chrome is obviously superior to firefox it's been proven time and time again
it was a joke bro
Everyone Lynx is the best browser
chrome is obviously superior to firefox it's been proven time and time again
it's been proven time and time again that chrome is better for some, firefox for some, opera for some, and ie for none [editline]04:47AM[/editline]
Everyone Lynx is the best browser
omg no way w3m is better
chrome is obviously superior to firefox it's been proven time and time again
That is your choice...that is all.
It was still wrong. Both WebKit and V8 are faster than Gecko and (not certain which engine Fx uses) ...
Safari uses "JavaScriptCore" (also called Nitro) and Chrome uses V8 Gecko uses a hybrid setup, it uses an interpreter called SpiderMonkey for most content, and a "Tracing JIT" called TraceMonkey for "hot loops" (code that is called repeatedly). That's changing in 4.0 where it'll have an engine called JaegerMonkey as-well as TraceMonkey. JaegerMonkey is equivalent to V8/Nitro (and they want to achieve a similar baseline speed), and when coupled with TraceMonkey should provide really good performance (the Tracing JIT beats V8/Nitro in a whole bunch of stuff, but the slow parts slow it down so much so it gets such a low score)
:irony:
I don't see how that's ironic. Firefox has always had a userbase filled with fanboys. It doesn't seem as bad nowadays (probably due to the increasing popularity of Chrome), but it's still very apparent. I mean, really, I always see sites with "Use Firefox!" banners, people with Firefox avatars... heck, even people wearing Firefox clothing (http://store.mozilla.org/). It's just a fucking browser, jesus christ. Chrome users don't seem to publicly worship their browser as much, but I guess it could change if it gets more popular. If you're accusing me of being a fanboy, then that would probably make more sense if Firefox wasn't my default browser.

It's why Google open-sourced it anyway.
Chrome is like the console gamers and Mac users of the gaming community. They like everything so simple so they don't mess it up.
I use Chrome because it's fast and makes the best use of screen real-estate (i.e the fact that tabs are in the window title bar means I can display more webpage at once).
It's Awesome, it's sooo much faster and clean looking

Really you're not limited to Google Chrome for that reason alone anymore.
Woo! People, update your firefox! We have App Tabs now. Right Click > Make into app tab. We don't have much of the promised functionality, but it's a start.

Also Chrome is still more minimalistic looking than either, at least when all have default themes.

Since Mozilla thought it would be funny to remove the manual update check, I had to look here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html But it's still only showing Beta 1.

http://clients.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/ Use this It takes 5 minutes but it scans your browser till the final porn pic that can be found...
They should just adopt V8. It's why Google open-sourced it anyway.
I dunno, Firefox using their own one increases competition and, if it gets up there with chrome and opera will put pressure on them to speed up their javascript engines too.
You can still access it by enabling the menu bar, or by pressing Alt.
Ah. It's saying there's no update. :/
I dunno, Firefox using their own one increases competition and, if it gets up there with chrome and opera will put pressure on them to speed up their javascript engines too.
Yes, competition is always good. It makes me wonder what Firefox has up its sleeve. The new version of their javascript engine, Jaegermonkey, isn't yet implemented in the beta, so that'd be something to look forward too. I think the beta also currently lacks hardware acceleration, which was planned. It'd take a lot to bump it up to Opera and Chrome speed, but it's definitely been a while since there's been a big speed upgrade in Firefox.

Just got around to installing the beta on ubuntu to see what the new theme looks like...and the theme for linux is almost exactly the same as the standard theme on 3.6. Why do they give linux such ugly themes compared to windows?!?
I like the new beta but it needs the speed of chrome
