Overall its personal preference, to me I hate chrome, it's too minimalistic and chocked full of shit I don't need.
I don't want each tab to be a new exe which takes more resources than cramping it down into one, so what if that exe crashes, it's your fault if it does so because you've made it unstable.
So what if Chrome runs off webkit, its sluggish on gif images and I hate it for that, sure it scores 100\100 on acid3, but acid3 is really starting to show its age as a test now.
Chromes javascript engine is a pathetic joke compared to Opera's, not that FireFox's is any better.
Chrome is limited on it's customisation factor, yeah you can change a few ini files, wootedoo both Firefox and Opera give you more control over the UI, Opera is EXTREMELY generous with it's UI as you can change any factor of it if you want.
In short, browser war and Opera currently stands above the rest as it shares a factor of all the browsers.
Customisation, appeal and speed.
I'm not saying you should use Opera, personally I use Firefox but overall the best browser on the market currently I would believe is Opera.
There is so much wrong with this post I don't know where to begin. However, let me just start by saying: no. V8 beats pretty much every other engine out there. Acid3 is still completely reliable. And if you knew what you were talking about, having each tab as a separate process actually makes you use less resources. And it's the site making it crash, not the browser, if it ever happens. (I've had it happen in Opera, and boy does it hit hard then. Lost 10 tabs.)
i use primarily firefox, chrome is nice but its not actually that much faster. i notice a speed improvement i guess, but what improvement there is really is too small for me to give a shit about. firefox does everything better (except those dev tools, those are shiny. i bet firefox has an add on for it, but vanilla stuff is nice)
(I've had it happen in Opera, and boy does it hit hard then. Lost 10 tabs.)
And then 5 seconds later I hit open from last time and it all magically reappears.
[editline]03:55PM[/editline]
And even then it only happens once in a blue moon.
The fanboyism is strong within you all.
Anyways, I've been using the new Firefox over Chrome which was my default. One of the main reasons though stupid is I like the new look. :P

Oh right. The elaborate answer I was working on in a StackOverflow window just 'magically reappears' out of the memory Windows already re-allocated to another process?
To anyone complaining about extensions not working:
1) New Tab > about:config
2) Agree to the awesome warning
3) Right Click > New > Boolean
4) Name: "extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0b" (No quotation marks) Value: False
5) Chill
Also, to those complaining about how all of your prefabricated benchmarks hold Chrome above FF4b, read this and keep in mind that when Mozilla say beta, they mean beta.

Yeah, because Opera totally can't remember what tabs were open when it crashed, then offer to re-open them.
He is talking about things in textboxes such as the reply box on FP. I don't think it recovers whats in them. However the simple answer would be to do what you should do in every instance of working on something important; save regularly.
Am I the only person who doesn't give a flying fuck about HTML render speeds? I use Firefox on all of my systems out of preference, not speed.
I tried it out and the interface feels really "sticky" to me.
Don't like it.
[editline]08:30PM[/editline]
And while it's loading a page in one tab, using any other tab is slow as fuck.
FYI I had the old Strata plugin and if you do as well make sure you enable the default firefox theme after upgrading.
Or maby u need Windows Vista?
Or maby u need Windows Vista?
No.
Does Firefox 4.0 stick recent history in the Menu button like the Strata40 theme does?
That super-tidy consolidated menu is something I hope they keep.
And MisterMooth, seriously man. Fanboys are annoying. It was my fault for baiting you but still. (By the way, I said name stuff that Firefox can't do. If it can be done with extensions you can't use it as an example, so "modular extensions" is the only valid one on there.)

Can't if you're working on a question in SO, it'd pollute the edit history.
It's faster for me in every aspect.
No, I have decent gaming comp.
like what, specs
My computer, Chrome was faster at everything, Though I'm currently posting from a Firefox Beta... Firefox just still holds me somehow, Might make the switch end of the year/next year.
specs
Chrome is just plain faster in every aspect. Browsing is faster, the interface is snappier and loads faster, even installing extensions is faster. There's a very noticeable difference in speed between the two browsers.
In terms of features, what the hell is new for Firefox? So far it's really just a new interface (which isn't even unique}.
Hell, Chrome can't even handle RSS feeds on its own.
Isolated tabs and plugins
Firefox has Plugins, why should they be separate from the browser?
Modular extensions
They're also very tiny and just another button on your toolbar.
A new tab page with actual stuff in it
Yeah, so. It's just recently visited sites.
Detection of text links in right-click menu
Firefox does this, or are you talking about something different?
Desktop notifications
You mean like when I have Firefox minimized and a popup shows above the notification area saying my downloads are complete?
Page content indexing in history
Uh-huh...
Built-in bookmarks/settings/themes sync (with extensions sync and other features already in the dev builds)
Okay, that sounds a little bit useful.
Incognito mode that doesn't temporarily remove your normal browser session
When is a person going to use incognito/private browsing other than for porn anyway?
[editline]05:55PM[/editline]
Forgive me for long post.
Opera is still the sleekest browser, it uses so little space to display all its shit (tabs being on the same bar the Opera toolmenu thing and minimize/window/exit buttons are) while at least the old Firefox took up half the monitor with useless shit.
Opera is bloated failware.
Opera is bloated failware.
The browser itself is pretty good but I hate that it's closed-source and bundled with a bunch of shit that nobody needs.
And it doesn't support extensions.
Gets a 97/100 on the Acid 3 Test, Its alright but ill stick with chrome.
Gets a 97/100 on the Acid 3 Test, Its alright but ill stick with chrome.
Firefox and IE are the only ones to fail that you know.
Firefox with 97 and IE with 20 and showing a bunch of crap that you shouldn't even see.
All these flamewars over software. If you like it, use it. You don't need to sit here and try to force everyone else to do the same thing as you. Seriously it plays out like a mental disorder. "You're stupid because you have a differing opinion". Seriously.
Gets a 97/100 on the Acid 3 Test, Its alright but ill stick with chrome.
I got a 97, and chrome got a 98. But, chrome did not display it well at all, with no colors and a black bar through the text.I'm gonna use the new firefox. Also, looks exactly like Opera in some aspects.
you're all retarded using a synthetic benchmark to base what your main browser will be, use it in a day-to-day setup and see what's good for you
for me, it's firefox

pretty much this
^^^
What he said.
Use Firefox on my laptop. Chrome on the old computer.
Firefox quite literally rapes the RAM on the old computer. 512MB only gets you so far nowadays....
Opera is bloated failware.
How is is bloated?
I'm pretty sure bloatware/failware means all the "bloat" slows it down unnecessarily.
Even with all this supposed bloat is manages to kick the crap out of most other browsers in terms of speed.
User Javascript is pretty much the Opera version of extensions. Although admittedly it could be setup to be slightly easier to find good ones and make them easier to manage and install.
