Just got my 21.5" touchscreen
Mind sharing what model? (Unless you have already and I missed it?) - I do audio mixing "In-The-Box" using software and I want a large touchscreen to operate the software mixer.
HP Compaq L2015tm. It only tracks 2 fingers at a time and needs W7 to get the most out of it (multitouch). Its also a bit of a learning curve because it uses infrared tracking so you dont have to touch the screen to 'click', which sometimes results in tapping in the wrong place. That being said, it's tracking and accuracy is flawless.

I think I need be classified as an evil genius or something for this to be justified, lol.
Ever considered replacing your desktop with a mac pro? Would only cost you 2500. And it's not like you couldn't continue to use your current hard drives, ram and gpus.

Also that mbp looks very precarious... I can't stand using mine unless all 4 corners are firmly in place.

I don't see the point as I don't use OSX much, and I'm a max modeler so that locks me to windows. I'd see no performance increase going with a Mac Pro over the same spec'd windows PC. Also an entry level Mac Pro would be a downgrade for me currently.
Yeah I've got to say as much as I like macs, they are not high performance machines. Now that's OK for me as I only tend to do application programming and occassionaly 2d graphics, but if I were wanting to play games all the time and do 3D modelling, I'd probably reconsider. I'm assuming 3D modelling puts a pretty big strain on the system by the way, not experimented with it much myself.

Well Mac's can be some of the highest performing home computing systems you can buy, they just cost a premium. I was just saying at entry level it wouldn't be my best choice. As far as gaming goes I don't even care about that anymore, my next GPU will most likely be a workstation GPU.

True, not like there are not High powered Mac based machines, however, you can get the same hardware or better by building it yourself and running Linux or Windows for whatever software you need.
If it's about prebuilts, you can still buy a prebuilt system with more powerful specs, I have yet to see general mac's being built with Intel's latest i7 series, they're running two Xeon's for a "12-core" system on the Pro line.

I'm sure that the 6core Xeons that they are using perform better than using a standard i7, unless you mean something else.

premium aka $1200 for 4GB ram upgrade?
It's not like you can't build a custom PC with the same specs as a particular Mac Pro.

Well I am being a bit extreme, but I am specifically thinking of the I7 980 X which is a much more powerful 6 core with hyper threading. It is overkill, but you can get two of those if you really wanted to. (If you have an arm and a leg to saw off for the 2,000 bux you'll need just to buy the cpu's)
Seriously guys, dumb ratings? Macs can be very powerful and if you need to use OSX there is nothing wrong it them. I wasn't saying that they are MORE powerful, but they can be very competitive in their fields.
God ratings instigate wars.
The Macs in our graphic design lab here are fairly powerful. I don't mind using them at all...aside from the god awful mice. I also wouldn't mind walking away with a Cinema Display or two.
booo
macs are bad
I don't see where all this mac hate is coming from, every OS has it's flaws and anyone who's used Windows or even Linux for a while will know this. Can we just get over this constant need to validate our opinions and just be happy with what we choose to use. If you're honestly happy with your choice of OS you shouldn't need to justify it to a bunch of people on an internet forum.
Eh...that's kinda why I stopped posting in this forum anyway. The blind hatred is just pathetic at times. Whether it's on the subject of laptops or monitors or peripherals or whatever.
It's all just "no X sucks Y is better, if you disagree you're a dumbass that knows nothing."

Zorlok shut the fuck up, you know dell monitors are the best. ;)
Also Zorlok, bought a 07' Si.
I would only buy a Laptop from apple, a desktop I can build myself.

I love my S2309W.
Also that's awesome, what color? I'm still thinking of selling my car soon. (We should probably discuss this elsewhere to avoid going off topic)

Entirely agree.
I think people spend too much time debating their choice in computer, OS, text editor, 3d modelling program, rainmeter config, desktop background, etc. (the list just goes on). Why not just close facepunch, facebook, twitter and your goddamned RSS reader and make something, anything. Don't think about whether you're using the best tools for the job, just create and worry about that later.
If we spend too much time debating, we become overly critical and cynical, sometimes we just need to just stop caring and actually do something with our lives.

i like to argue
if you don't agree with me you don't know what you're talking about

It's also human nature by the looks of it.
the only thing I dislike is just blind fanboyism.
DITCH YOUR PERFECTLY FINE SETUP, GET A $2500 MAC BRO.

theres nothing a mac can do that a pc cant. dont even with the art crap, thats complete bullshit and the interfaces on macs and pcs for art programs are exactly the same.
