I have been looking for a laptop for some time now in which I can take away while traveling or for use at university. However, I have yet to find one that fully satisfies my needs. I have had a good look through the hardware forums multiple times and looked at other laptop request threads which have been little use to me being that they are american orientated and the laptops/models that are mentioned aren't sold here in the UK.
I am looking for one that generally plays games to a moderate degree, perhaps around the ATI 4570 standard, has a 64bit operating system, 15.6" screen maximum and around 4gb of RAM. My budget is no more than £550.
The only one that has come close to what I need is the Acer 5536G. While it caters for nearly everything I need, it comes with 32bit Vista so it makes having 4GB of RAM pointless. (If my knowledge is correct)
Does anyone have any other recommendations?
I have an Acer 5535 and it is amazing. Although if 32 bit really bothers you you will have to buy 64 bit.
Acer 7730 is pretty good.

Do you have many problems with it?
Acer 6935g I have it and it takes on GTA4 with no problems (on medium textures/high everything else)

Definitely not pointless, Depending on the GPU it can use around 3.5GB of that RAM.
Mine has a 512MB (Dedicated GRaphics Memory) GPU and 32Bit Vista can only see 2.9GB of my 4GB RAM, Painful.
(I dual boot 32bit + 64bit Vista for Audio and general use)
(Ebuyer is a good place to buy laptops if you catch one of their numerous and plentiful deals)
You mean adept?

Yeah that's what I assumed would occur.

Inept as in incapable, due to lack of knowledge about laptops as a whole.

I don't understand why anyone would want a netbook in school, It's not like space is a premium and weight wise it doesn't make that much of a difference. Most people argue that you wouldn't have enough space on your desk to use your PC and work, but I use a 17" Laptop in college just fine, the thing is you do either one thing or another, you don't try and write on your desk and use books while you are using your laptop, because if you do, regardless of the laptop size, you will risk knocking your laptop off your desk. Most people that I've seen on campus have 15"-17" laptops, I've only seen a handful of people using netbooks, in one of my classes of 65 people, 12 of us use PC's and only one of them has a netbook and it just looks like a chore to use, small keys and a small screen.
The people I've seen with netbooks are not using them any easier or more often than people with normal laptops.
