So a few months ago there was a surge that completely burnt out my PSU, I replaced it but we had to have work done on our house first to fix the problem. So several months later the work is finished and I plugged in my computer with its new power supply to find nothing appearing on screen, the fans are spinning and the mobo lights are on, but nothing is happening. And after about 2 minutes it simply shuts down, what is going on? I have a EP45-UD3P motherboard, and more information you guys need will be provided.
Check your video card is connected properly and check if the cable is connected to your monitor properly.
Sounds like component failure. RAM CPU or MOBO went bad. If you're using a discrete GPU, you might want to use the onboard (if avail) or an alternative/old one that you may have.
It does sound like a component failure. If you had an old PSU and no surge protector you could have seriously damaged you computer. You might just have to do trial and error, replace parts with parts known to work. Or borrow a friends computer and see if you can swap parts to see.
Which in turn, couldve taken out your motherboard or GPU.
From what I can tell the motherboard is damaged, the graphics card and processor work fine and I haven't tested any of the other components. I'm ordering a new one, any recommendations for a mobo that supports a LGA775 socket processor and 1066 DDR2 memory? [editline]05:51PM[/editline] I was using a rosewill PSU, but the surge protector I had was quite good.
