Why won't you let your parents talk to us? We could probably persuade them.
Why won't you let your parents talk to us? Oh wait they can't because they're ignorant asswipes that don't know shit about computers. Talk to them man, as long as they're not catholics they should be susceptible to enlightenment.

There is no way I can convince them to let me build my own. Can anyone suggest me some prebuilds between £200 and £300 that I can buy new parts for when I get money. Leave the moniter out of the budget.
Buy from Scan and buy Scansure, it protects against accidental damage while you install it (28 days, I think it is). That's what I used to persuade my parents. [editline]11th April 2012[/editline] http://www.scan.co.uk/scansure/
whole lot of angst lol
I know right lol
That's actually very cool, sounds like a great way to convince them.
Didn't work. :(
Jesus I thought my parents were stubborn. Do they just have no trust in you or what?
Jesus I thought my parents were stubborn. Do they just have no trust in you or what?
No they said that they didn't want me to do it because I hadn't taken apart our very old computer from the 90's yet. The only reason I didn't was I didn't think I had anything to learn from it as I help my friend build his just before Christmas.
Take apart the old 90's computer then.
Take apart the old 90's computer then.
But they wouldn't let me now, because I didn't have the initiative to do it before they used it as an excuse.
You could always just get all the parts and say it's a prebuilt then once they arrive build it. Once they've arrived it's not like they can do anything about it.
You could always just get all the parts and say it's a prebuilt then once they arrive build it. Once they've arrived it's not like they can do anything about it.
no
You could always just get all the parts and say it's a prebuilt then once they arrive build it. I can't believe they still said no after proposing the option of scansure. Sounds like they're just being awkward for the sake of it.
Can someone give me a list of parts for a build for £500 including a monitor please.
I could throw something at my dad right now. He's making me spend more of my own money (after £450 I have to pay and my custom build is now £550, the lowest I can get anything decant for) because he doesn't understand how it works, and is not willing to have a civil conversation about it. Every time I bring it up he gets red in the face and starts raising his voice. Telling him about the fucking accidental installation damage insurance invoked shouts of "Do you want a computer or not". I asked him why he said because I haven't shown any interest in it, even though I've done it before off my own back with a friend.

I've spoken to my mum and she agrees a build would be the best thing to do, so please can I have a £500 build including monitor.
Smooth convincing. How's this: Also do you need a Wireless Card/Peripherals?

Scan has an installation warranty; if you damage your items while installing, you get a new one. Just saw that I'm late. My point still stands though, Scan are good so consider buying from them. [editline]13th April 2012[/editline] Why does scan sell windows for so much? a local store sells it for around £40.

Seriously, I can never find it as cheap as that!
A better question would be why does your local store sell Windows so cheap? Seriously, I can never find it as cheap as that!
Agreed, Scans pricing on the OS is reasonable. Especially if you just get the OEM 64bit version
That was when my friend was building his, It may have been a clearance sale thinking of it.
You do the Windows 8 DP until you have money for Windows 7. Here's a compability list for some pretty common games: http://facepunch.com/threads/1126493 Some games don't work, but most I've tried do. Windows 8 is quite a bit different UI wise, but I think you'll be able to adapt to it fairly fast, and it's free (until it actually goes retail)!
