I'll probably go with the Koss KSC75s, though I'm not a fan of the form factor. Are there any over-the-head headphones under $45 CAD that are fairly durable?
I mainly keep my current pair at home for using at my computer and sometimes in bed for podcasts, I have a pair of Meelectronics M9Ps to keep in my pocket so they don't need to be too small. Closed would be preferred, though I can definitely make do with open headphones.
Sound is definitely a priority, though having headphones that will last more than a year without having to buy epoxy is pretty damn important for me.

I might order the Monster Turbines today on Amazon. I went to BestBuy and they were $179.99, and out of stock, so I bought a new mouse instead. On Amazon they go for $109.

Currently looking at the Sony MDR-V6 and Audio Technica A700 as suggested in the OP.

Also no sound card if that matters.

Also would it be possible for the headphones to also have decent bass? Most of the ones that are said to be decent for gaming and closed in the OP also mentioned a slight lack of bass.

This, although it's a clip-on mic with the V1 so you might as well not even bother.
Audio-Technica ATHM40FS are on sale for $57.65 on Amazon. My friend wants to know if he should go for them?

If you're looking at the 280 pro, get the 380 pro instead.
From what I've heard it sounds better and is more durable, currently you should be able to find one for about the same as a 280.

I ordered one a few days ago, going to pick it up in about 6 hours. I'll write a piece here about what I think but since my only previous headphone experience has been a creative fatality (ugh) it won't be very detailed.
Are this amp specs any good?

I am now literally standing in the middle of a parking lot connected to someone's unsecured wifi listening to my brand fucking new Sennheiser HD380 pros. The sound is totally incomparable to anything I've ever heard before, crystal clear and beautiful.
gotta go now wifi connection is shoddy updates soon!
my friend got a pair of ath m30's for $47. could he have done better? he listens to a lot of electronic music, most of which is heavy on the bass.
Right, detailed HD380 pro rundown!
Let me start with a little disclaimer, all this shit's opinion based and not a very good one at that, as my previous headphones where creative fatalities... But nonetheless, let's get into this.
First and foremost, ahem...
HOLY SHIT THE QUALITY
I just spent the last 10 or so minutes listening to all of my favorite music and I simply cannot believe it sounds this good. I can pump the volume with no distortion or crackling.
I have a fucking :siren:$400:siren: logitech z-5500 and these comparatively plucky $120 dollar cans blow the 'techs out of the water, they're simply in a completely different realm in terms of clarity and quality. But then again I don't use the z-5500 and it's beast of a 10" woofer for easy listening...
This is hands down the best money I've spent all year.
Let's get down to specifics though.
Downsides first.
They're a bit tight on the head, my first reaction when I opened the box was HOW DO I GET THESE ON MY HEAD?! because the space between the cans was like 10cm. They fit snugly though and it's the headband that provides the flex. I'm not too concerned because I'm sure they'll flex out with time but I'm not experiencing any immediate discomfort. EDIT: I just noticed the headband can be extended further than I first thought, most of this first point is now moot.
The largest downside I can think of right now though is that the bass is a tiny little bit less than I would've wanted. Don't get me wrong, it's way more than enough but I think the responce around 50-75hz is a bit lacking. The real lows are good and all just above that it's juuuuust a little bit quieter than I would've wanted.
Purely informational stuff:
Cable is about a meter in length total , about 70% of which is coiled so the stretched out length would be like 3m. It comes with a 1/4" adapter and a neat little textile case for carrying it.
The cans themselves rotate 90 degrees in one direction to allow for putting them flat in the little bag thing.
Isolation is superb, I completely lose contact with the outside world and I dare say they could double as hearing protection.
Asthetically they're gorgeous, black matte plastic all over and the sennheiser logo in silver.
The actual construction appears very solid aswell, the joints are made of metal and the headband is sturdy. I expect these to hold well past the 2 year warranty
All in all, while I'm sure there are headphones in the same price range that are technically better, I am completely in love with these headphones and would not trade them for any other of equal value.
Alright everyone, I am getting a new pair of earbuds and I am getting ~50% of their regular price, here are some I have been looking at:

Thanks!
I'm naughty, I just bought a pair of Beats Solo HD to see for myself what they were like. I really like them actually. It comes with the headphones, a carrying case, two pairs of cords, a cleaning cloth, manuals and product book, and of course the very sexy box. As for the headphones, they feel really nice. I like the feel of the material they used for the padding, and when I wear them they're pretty comfortable. The sound quality is pretty good as well, and when I listened to some Dio, I was very pleased, and so was my dad when he tried them out. I'll write a longer review once I spend some more time with them, I've only had them for a few hours. All I can say for now is, if you're looking for some comfortable, good-looking, on-ear headphones, and can deal with the price, I say go ahead, but then again, do remember that this is my opinion after using them for a few hours.
Don't take em off your head, they might snap. They are a part of you now. sleep with them , bathe of them, love them.
My PX100s snapped in the middle of a movie. Dammit.
Epoxy time!

Anything better than the JVC HA-RX500-Es in the £10-£25 market? This is to replace the previous pair of them that I carelessly stepped on three times and trashed.
