I like to listen mostly to soundtracks from some games and movies.
Any idea if I should upgrade from my Steelseries siberia full size v1's?
They look amazing I'll give them that, got them about a year and a bit ago with no fault, if I'm honest I don't use them a whole lot because I have surround sound (crappy surround sound though but I prefer it unless I "need" to use the headphones).
I'm still using the onboard sound from my three year old P31 so I really doubt getting one of these £150 classy headsets would really benefit me yet, I should probably wait until I upgrade, that or get a headset like the corsair HS1 with supposedly amazing built in sound card (USB).
Found a used Sennheiser HD555 for about $50
Buy?
My headset is about to break.
SteelSeries 3h (agree) vs Creative Tactic3d Alpha (disagree)?

I need the headphones to have a built-in microphone with good quality as I use Skype a lot. If they don't have one then I really need a decent clip-in microphone or desk microphone that won't pick up other sound around my room and has good quality.

Headphones, I don't want in ear ones.
PS: I saw some headphones that are just one colour and they have no design whatso ever. Any Ideas?
I'm looking for some good open headphones, preferably in the 50-80 euros range. Don't want to use Ebay. Purpose: mainly music and movies.
I bought some 40$ headphones about a year ago, within a few short months the microphone quit working as the cord became very twisted, and recently the left speaker has been cutting out a ton. Any suggestions for headsets that don't twist up? Is that just a gimmick(will it still break fast)?
looking to buy some good headphones anywhere from $0 to $40ish. don't want to use ebay (amazon works tho). i'm in the us. main use would be music mostly, but also gaming and occasionally movies probably. would prefer closed headphones. thank you.

HD555's are always a good choice, little out of your range but they are a good pair for a good price.

AD300s if you want to save money if shipping is expensive.
Anyone know about the Qunicy Jones AKG headphones?
Are they just aesthetic changes? they look classy as fuck.
I have...
Razer: Carcharias. I have no idea what the fuck the name means.
They've served me for about half a year, pristine quality.
Very comfy, decent microphone, and can be slid down to make them bigger.
http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169415800
Not advertising, just showing my headset.
I love them.
So it has come to my attention that 95 percent of facepunch knows nothing about headphones, and they fall for things like "DIS HEADSET IS FOR TRUE GAYMEN EXPERIENCE". Now, the problem is that after people receive their "gaming" headphones, they think it's the best because they have nothing to compare it to and afterwards they go around advertising and brainwashing other people who are also needing headphones. This eventually forms a community where around nine in ten people will buy shit headphones simply because people with good recommendations are outvoted.
When companies use the words "gaming" for audio, it simply means that the company is thinking "this product is too crappy to fool people who are actually into audio, so let's label it as gaming so we can target a consumer who doesn't know shit." Then people who think they are so smart after choosing ati over nvidia ignore this and simply buy it from peer pressure and advertising. Now the goal of this thread is to get you to have a better choice on headphones and to get you to shutup about buying headphones named l33t gaming headphones.
Well I must admit, SteelSeries and Razer blow Turtle Beach out of the water.
However, Audio Technica and Sennheiser blow SteelSeries and Razer combined out of the water.

Then go buy skullcandies. This is a thread for people who don't give two shits about looks but give a hundred for quality of sound.

Ahh, my comment about the Quincy Jones AKG headphones. They do look classy as fuck and the 701 is a great headphone.
But I'm wondering if the increased price is just a branding tax or the price for some sort of modification they did.

Alright, beat my Razer Carcharias you audiophiles! :P
If it doesn't have a microphone, whats a great microphone that I can solder onto the headset?
I've already got one or two pairs of Frankenphones around, but I don't know where..

Anyway, whats the best I can get for ~$100?
Going to repost mine with some additions:
Budget:
£100 / $160
Can you use Ebay:
Yes
Country:
United Kingdom
Isolation:
No solid preference, I prefer closed because I don't want to annoy people with my music, as long as the quality is good I don't mind.
Purpose:
Gaming: 55 percent
Music: 40 percent
Movies: 5 percent
Musical Tastes:
I mainly listen to Hip-hop, Dubstep and Drum and Bass so the low ends/bass are quite important.
No microphone required on the headphones, but if anybody has a good recommendation for a desktop/clip on microphone that doesn't suck and is quit clear then let me know, budget for that is £40. They also need to be sturdy as I have a habit of just ripping them off my head and dropping them, they should be comfortable too as I wear them for around 4-5 hours straight.
HOLY FUCK! These JVC marshmallows are the greatest things ever.. they sound better than my headset! (Carcharias)

Anything by Sennheiser, Audio-Technica or Grado will probaly beat your Razers. The Zalmann Clip-on mic will function perfectly for you, it clips onto your headphone cord or you can really attach it to the headset if you don't mind looking goofy.
