Superlux HD668b and Zalman mic-1 clip on mic. I have the microphone and it's quite good for the low price and the superlux headphones will outperform the sennheisers you posted.
Thanks, just ordered that plus a clip on mic.
Just letting everyone ITT know, I've had Beyerdynamic DT 880 600 ohm cans for about a year now and they are absolutely incredible and I would recommend them to anyone. Of course, you're gonna need an amp. they're easily some of the best cans on the market, period
Where can I buy these really good superlux headphones in canada? I checked amazon.ca, I checked pricebat.ca can I even get them? :(
-snip- nevermind I'm gonna get flamed for the choice I made apparently according to OP
-snip- nevermind I'm gonna get flamed for the choice I made apparently according to OP
let them hate, what did you get? The two things hated the most are fatalities and razer headsets, I've had both.
It's virtual 7.1, there are two drivers.
I know that, and it came with one disc.
Well, for $30 I'd say it is pretty good.
I know that, and it came with one disc.
err I meant two speakers (drivers) - not software drivers.
err I meant two speakers (drivers) - not software drivers.
Oh, my bad. But yeah I knew it was virtual 7.1 I'm not dumb enough to think there's actually 7 speakers and a subwoofer in a headset. I'm just saying it actually sounds like 7.1 surround and it does a good job of it.
How can I gauge the true quality of my headphones? I have onboard sound on the moment (only unobstructed PCI slot is used by a NIC)
Just a warning to any fellow headphone shoppers here, these are plastic shit. Keep away. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826289005&Tpk=pulsewave%202 Also if anybody could help me find a good set of headphones, I'm looking for something that's not super expensive but won't break after a single fucking month. 50% gaming 40% voice chat 10% music Also, I need something that filters out background noise. My budget is between $50-$100, maybe a bit more, but I need something that's quality. Thanks for any help
Where can I buy these really good superlux headphones in canada?
Well, for $30 I'd say it is pretty good.
A combo Koss KSC-75 with a Zalman clip-on microphone would blow them away for the same or less money.
How can I gauge the true quality of my headphones? I have onboard sound on the moment (only unobstructed PCI slot is used by a NIC)
Subjectively? Analytically listen to some of your favorite music while in quiet environment. Objectively? You'll need equipment to recreate the human skull and benchmark your headphones response across the entire audible frequency range. See this article for more information: http://www.headphone.com/learning-center/rating-headphones.php For the best sound, you'll want to use an external DAC to get rid of any interference caused by your computer's internals. You should then run the output of the DAC into a headphone amplifier to attenuate (or boost) the signal. If you're really crazy, you will run dual DACs/AMPs, one for each channel.
Well some people don't want a clipon mic, I don't know myself yet, I would be fine to try one. However, I'm sure I'd still want the headset style microphone, as I have been using one for the past 4 years.
Audio Technica ATH-AD700 vs Sennheiser HD555 for mainly gaming and a tad bit of music. I would gladly sacrifice musical fidelity for gaming performance. I'm currently leaning towards the AD700 based on what I've read from other websites. If anyone has a good suggestion for a sound card that would also helpful.
Budget: 50ish USD Can you use Ebay: Sure, why not? Country: USA. Isolation: Open, no one is in this room anyhow. Purpose: Gaming 40% Music 40% Movies 20% I've been using Turtle Beach X11's for a while now, but they're torn to shit. Not to mention the fact that no audio comes through the left cup. If possible, I'd like the pair to work with an Xbox 360 as well.

The ATH-AD700 are generally flat through a lot of the audible frequency range but they do have more boosted highs than the Sennheisers. Honestly, unless your current soundcard (or integrated audio) produces a lot of background noise or sounds completely anemic, you're better of putting any money for a soundcard into the headphones. If you really want a soundcard, I'd suggest you first take a look at what DAC/AMP or combo units are available.

With a boost on the bass frequencies, their bass goes from pathetic to exceptional.
I decided to buy Alessandro MS1, since they seem to be the best choice for metal/rock. Now to the problem, I can't find any place to buy them! Anyone who know where they could be bought here in Sweden? One more thing, is it really that big difference between Alessandro MS1 and Grado-SR80i?
I might add on that a bit of bass would be nice. If not possible, just some high quality sound instead. Maybe surround?
Hmm... I'm using two Sony speakers, 50w, and a 100w sub-woofer. An audiotecnica microphone for my mic. Your shitty headphones don't got shit on my speakers. PS they are twenty years old.
HD595 = small improvement over HD555? they're the same exact headphones once you remove the foam on the grill [editline]9th July 2011[/editline] anyways, got my 558s a few days ago. after burn in they're great - far superior sound stage and bass in comparison to the old 555s. oh, and they're much better looking

(http://www.alessandro-products.com/main.php?p=headphones) I was able to select Sweden as my shipping destination and I was able to choose international shipping. The Grado SR60/SR80 and the Alessandro MS1 are all relatively similar, so I'd pick whatever one you can find at the best price.
Hmm... Your shitty speakers don't have anything on these. Hell, the manual for these things is probably cooler than your system. Hey guys I still have a B&N gift card left over and I'm wondering which headphones would be best for under 50$ Not sure the difference between these two and was wondering if anyone could help me pick the best as my Earbuds died. I need some good speakers, I don't care about nice headphones at the moment. My budget is ~$150 unless you find me something amazing that's a little over. ebay sure US split 33% for movies/games/music music tastes are too diverse to be of value in selection I just want something that sounds really nice and can enjoy!
I know this thread is for headphones, but what do we all think of Tivoli? I was considering them for a desk radio or portable speaker. Their models seem a bit pricey, but if the quality warrants their cost I'll jump in.
