This looks damn great! Its a VERY detailed and long review of 186 different IEM headphones. The ratings seem very honest too.

Budget: no more than $70
Ebay: Nope.
Country: Finland.
Isolation: In-Ear monitors
Purpose: Music on phone, metal, pop, house, hiphop and whatnot. They should have very good bass, since i like that.

My Creative sound blaster arena headset is starting to die, Ive already got my eyes on an Astro A40 for when these finally decide to kick the bucket.
Whats everyone's opinion in the Astro A40? other recommendations?

the $300 price tag is a joke..right?
the $300 price tag is a joke..right?
No, they do in fact cost as much as a brand new pair of AKG K702 or Sennheiser HD 600. Avoid them at all costs.
I'd just leave it off, AD700 have a great soundstage in the first place, they don't need virtualization. If you like it keep it on.
It helps the effect significantly
Unfortunately in my case the surround is so believable it gives me a headache within minutes :<
Going to buy Xears TD-III, which got insanely good review (for its price category) HERE and by using a special coupon on their site, i get these $100 IEMs for $55
Its got its own appreciation thread and all and the reviewer knows his shit.
Never buy Beats. Ever. They are horrible.
Why are they horrible?
Can anyone explain driver flex for me?
What is driver flex?
Why does it happen?
How can i prevent driver flex?
Hey I'm going back to school soon and I need new headphones. Last year I used the in ear iPod ones the whole time and it sucked.
Budget it anywhere in between $100-200.
Can't really use ebay
U.S.
Open
Using them for music mostly but gaming as well.
Parents were just gonna get me beats from best buy but i didn't think spending that much money on headphones was a great idea. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Where the hell are you getting $300 from? they cost $199. http://www.astrogaming.com/a40-headset-astro-edition
All of the reviews that I have heard were very positive, saying that the sound was great, it was very comfortable and the microphone worked well.
I've got $40 to spend. So far I've found the ath m30's and jvc harx700's in my price range. are there any other possibities, and which would be better, the audio technica's or jvc's?

I listen to a lot of dnb & progressive house, and also a bit of metal and rock. I'd like some more well balanced headphones.
Why are they horrible?
overpriced. their sound quality is debatable, though. people here tend to jump on bandwagons a lot.

HD 595s are pretty good, around 150$ from amazon

The problem with user reviews (regarding the A40's) and word of mouth is that the people who bought these things have either not used proper headphones or/and want to justify their purchase.

Ive seen this thing popping up on top gaming headset lists. The fact that it is the "official headset of MLG, its pretty promising. Most of the reviews are from reviewers who dont buy the headsets, they get them sent for reviewing, eg; ChillaFrilla and akaTRENT.

it being the 'official mlg headset' is pretty much a huge sign that it's a low quality piece of crap selling for a lot because of name recognition
"top gaming headset" =! actually good headphones. And people who actually use them in MLG are usually paid to use them, sponsors and whatnot.

Thanks a bunch
Name me a good circumaural headset that has a good sounding mic, and nice bass response. I will be using these for a gaming. However I almost always have some dubstep playing in the background when im on my computer. I would much refer a 3.5mm headset over a USB one so I can use it on my mobile devices and I dont really care if it is open or closed, I would be fine with either. I would be completely fine with purchasing it off of ebay, and I am looking for a headset with a maximum price of about $200. What would you guys recommend?
I also thought that I would point out that pretty much every link in the OP is broken.

I'm looking for something along the lines of this minus the mic and probably more toward a $100 range.
[editline]Edited:[/editline]
Audio Technica AD700's seem to be the best option at only $90. Comfy, snug and immersive (although little bass) just like in OP's post. Good thing I'm not a huge bass head.

On second thought... I could do without the Microphone, I am pretty comfortable with modding headphones.
Made a thread about the advice I needed, because I was too thick to spot this thread.
I hope this is the right section.
Anyway, I want to get a new pair of headphones. I have saved up some money to get a decent pair (or so I think, I don't have a lot of knowledge on the subject). So, I hoped some of you may be knowledgeable enough to advise me a fancy, non-overpriced pair of headphones.
Here is what I'd like to get:
-Big earphones, that cover the whole ear. Preferably those that drown away outside noise, but this is not a strict requirement.
-Detachable wire. One that can be taken out of the headphone set and stored separately. I have a wire break before, and it sucks. This also means no wireless sets.
-Comfortable, with plenty of padding, although I believe most have that.
-Over-the-head gear. Not behind the head, like I've seen some have.
-Last, I have a cheap pair of big earphones, but they sound really low-volume, even if I put my MP3-player on max. I'm not sure if this is my player's fault, or the headphones. In the latter case, the headphones should be able to get to decent volume levels.
-My budget is €100 ($142). It can be stretched slightly, but not too much.
-No Monster/Skullcandy headphones.
I hope it's possible to get something decent with the budget I have, that meets all of the specifications. Thanks in advance!
What are some tips for wearing headphones with glasses?
Because my glasses have made every pair of headphones I've ever used incredibly painful.

pretty inevitable phenomenon
glasses have never bothered me with headphones
What are some tips for wearing headphones with glasses?
Because my glasses have made every pair of headphones I've ever used incredibly painful.
Either tilt them forward so that the ear rests hang on top of the headphone instead of your ear, or pull the ear rests out over the headphones and secure them in any way you can. Those are the only ways I have figured out with dealing with this bullshit.
I have never had problems with my glasses and headphones, what the hell you guys on about?
[editline]7th August 2011[/editline]
Sennheiser HD558 here by the way, comfy as fuck.
Yes, HD558s are light as fuck.. Feels like I'm wearing a cloud.
But I have 20/20 so I don't wear glasses; although I could put on some shades and base it off that..
