I've looked up the Sennheiser HD558. How's the bass in those? I can only find information about the mid and high-tones.
I've looked up the Sennheiser HD558. How's the bass in those? I can only find information about the mid and high-tones.
Bass is sufficient, decent even when amped. If you're a bass head then ATH-M50
What is a good circumaural headset that has nice bass response and sounds good in games? I will be using these for a gaming. However I almost always have some dubstep playing in the background when im on my computer. I would much refer a 3.5mm headset over a USB one so I can use it on my mobile devices and I dont really care if it is open or closed, I would be fine with either. I would be completely fine with purchasing it off of ebay, and I am looking for a headset with a maximum price of about $200. What would you guys recommend? Re-posting for new page.
Denon D1100 are $200, they wont need an amp since they're only 32ohm. You can pick up a cheap clip-on/desk mic if you're gaming with them too.
Budget: Under $100 Can you use Ebay: No Country: USA Isolation: Closed Purpose: 95% Gaming 5% Music Musical Tastes: C418, Music out of Valve Games
Musical Tastes: C418, Music out of Valve Games
i have no actual taste in music and listen to things from games i play as a substitue
you really need to get a taste in music bud put some songs in pandora or something, jesus that's like me six years ago when i was an autistic fuck and liked "rush and queen and classic rock" but only had a mix cd with 2112 and bohemian rhapsody and listened to that nonstop
Budget: $100-$150 Ebay: No Country: US Isolation: Closed Purpose: Music I'll be just using my phone to play music. I mostly listen to metal/metalcore, rock, hip hop, rap, dubstep, and some country. I'm a bassjunkie but I also want them to sound good. I'd also like them to look good.
i have no actual taste in music and listen to things from games i play as a substitue
I like the club music from Ballad of Gay Tony they pick good songs.
Been looking at this set: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/gaming/headsets/devices/7248 Heard some good things about it, hoping someone has them and can provide info on them. If I do decide to purchase, I -will- look for a deal and not buy at retail.
I just looked around and discovered the Sony MDR-XB series. I wanted to know what you guys thought of these, specifically the MDR-XB1000. Is it worth it over a MDR-XB700? what kind of amp would I need to buy for it?

Read the OP then come back for some buying advice.

I used to own a 5.1 surround headset, the saitek cyborg ones. They were by far the worst headphones I have ever owned, the sound range was crap, the volume distorted at volumes that can barely be considered high, and the build quality made me go through a total of 4 of them before asking for my money back. Since then I have been using a standard stereo headset and it has far better directional awareness than the 5.1 ones. So, in my opinion, you don't really gain anything from buying surround headphones as everything that they claim to do, normal headphones do a great job emulating it.

I say it's shit because it's marketed at the kind of audience that don't care/know about sound quality, who buy it because it says it's a gaming headset and it's got buttons on it and looks cool. This means that Logitech can price it far above what it's actually worth as headphones. The microphone adds onto this as well, you pay probably $20 if not more just for the microphone, when $5 gets you a clip-on mic of similar quality. If you care about sound quality and want the best sound when listening to music, watching movies and such then get a pair of audiophile headphones.
also, about surround headphones in the OP, see #5 " 2. Rules when Buying Headphones 1. Do not buy anything that has the word "gaming" in the description (as you probably already understand). 2. Newegg is NOT the answer (stores will be listed later). 3. Nothing that has fatal1ty in it for the headphones (sound card will be ok if you're gaming and need x-fi, I will cover this later). 4. If you disagree with one and three, get out. 5. 7.1 in headphones is a gimmick. 6. Expensive cabling is a gimmick. 7. Bose is overpriced. 8. Skullcandy is on the same level as BOSE except with random skulls all over. (Garbage for the price) 9. If you say "bawt i haev bose dey are da bestest!" you are lying or you havn't heard anything better " Le AUTOMERGE BEAK (╯‵Д′)╯彡┻━┻
I want to move away from these hd 202's i have, the highs are shrill and the lows don't come out till you put the volume exceptionally loud. will getting a pair of jvc ha-rx700 be any better? I listen to bassy-er songs with progressive house, dnb, a tiny bit of dubstep, and some metal and rock occasionally. i don't want to spend more than $40 max
I like the club music from Ballad of Gay Tony they pick good songs.
that's because electro choc plays good music
if nobody comes up with a good, solid solution to not having a mic, i'm going to get the steelseries siberia v2 headset. come at me, bros.
Try A desktop microphone always have to turn up mic boost, which leads to distortion. the most recommended desk mic in this thread (the trust mc-1200) doesn't seem to have good reviews anywhere. A clip-on microphone clunky, takes up too much space. too many wires. A webcam microphone getting a webcam just to have a mic would be stupid. A lavalier microphone basically like a clip-on. A hanging microphone with shock mount too much time, effort, and money just for a mic. A shotgun microphone located at a distance what? a microphone of that caliber doesn't exactly seem appropriate for somebody like me that just wants to communicate in-game and on skype. A contact microphone mounted to your desk/monitor/face what Using your speakers as a microphone i dont have or want speakers.
none of those are adequate for me.
If you're gonna make excuses up then why even ask?
If you're gonna make excuses up then why even ask?
not excuses. i want audiophile headphones, but i want a mic that doesn't suck, and that combination doesn't seem to exist yet.
none of those are adequate for me.
Clip a clip-on mic to your headphone cord, no more obstructive than an inline control. If you are really fussy you can buy some ties or a sleeve to run the mic cord down the cord of your headset. or Buy one of these and hook it up to an MKE 2
none of those are adequate for me.
Mic boost does not lead to distortion on the MC-1200, especially on Realtek soundcards where the amount of boost can be adjusted.
Budget: £60 Ebay: Yes Country: England Isolation: Closed Use: Music, mainly rock and metal, but sometimes some techno and bass, so if they had decent bass that'd be nice. I was going to buy a pair of Igrados but those are open and leak sound like crazy apparently. If there is no better alternative i'm still willing to get them, just going to have to turn my music down on buses and trains :v:

HD202 have really really bad highs. [editline]8th August 2011[/editline] Siberia v2 are $75, you could get HD201 and have better quality, and spend the rest on a great microphone that you'll likely never have to replace, and in the end you'd have a better microphone and pair of headphones.
Mic boost does not lead to distortion on the MC-1200, especially on Realtek soundcards where the amount of boost can be adjusted.
there aren't any sound demos for that mic, so i'm really not sure if i want to get it. is it better than the zalman clip on?
i got a steel series siberia headband and it's a gigantic piece of shit. the microphone is mediocre at best, the speakers blow, and the entire thing doesn't even fit on my head. i bought a $30 pair of earbuds that sound a lot better (and are earbuds!), and i got a .25c microphone that sounds the exact same. oh and it costs $100 for the entire thing [editline]8th August 2011[/editline] i didn't actually buy, i got it for free. it really sucks.
