Considering getting the AT AD700's, pretty much just for gaming. Is there anything out there that's better within the price range?
don't think so
Budget: Up to $100 (But I would like to spend the least amount possible, best bang for buck I guess) Can you use Ebay: Yes, but would prefer a different site/seller Country: USA Isolation: No preference, but high quality closed at this price would be nice (don't see it happening) Purpose: 95% music, 5% gaming Musical Tastes: Metal and dubstep; Metal Examples: 1 and 2 | Dubstep Examples: 1 and 2 I was looking at the Sennheiser HD555's but I don't know if those are overkill or if the $100 price tag is really worth it for what I'm looking for since I don't know too much about them. Help much appreciated!!
I just looked around and discovered the Sony MDR-XB series. I wanted to know what you guys thought of these, specifically the MDR-XB1000. Is it worth it over a MDR-XB700? what kind of amp would I need to buy for it?
re-posting because it was overlooked.
re-posting because it was overlooked.
From what I understand and from experience, open headphones seem to lack punch in the bass so you'll probably want closed. ATH-M50 should fit you nicely.
posting from experience, ATH M50s aren't very good for the price.
Then which would be better for the price?
From what I understand and from experience, open headphones seem to lack punch in the bass so you'll probably want closed. ATH-M50 should fit you nicely.
Yeah... open headphones generally do lack in bass. I dont see why that is relevant because the MRD-XB series are closed, and the thing that they headphones boast about is the bass.
I've come down to the A700s and the AD700s. The price difference isn't astonishing, but I'm wondering what the impact on the quality is. The closed ones lack a little in quality, but have better bass and, obviously, are closed. Would be convenient to not have every one in the room hear me, but is it worth it having a little less quality and have the bass over the opposite for a few extra bucks? I'm new to a lot of this stuff and these headphones would probably be the largest amount of money I would invest into anything speaker related to date (compared to 8th grade $20 skullcandiezzz :v:). As said before, they would be primarily for gaming and every day computer use, but I would like to free them up to take on trips and such (seldom from the size apparently).
I have a pair of Sennheiser MX400's, and I'm looking to get a pair of earbuds the same quality or better, any suggestions? $20-$30 dollar max, earbuds. I'm looking for something with a decent thump to the bass. If I put my MX400's in sideways they have a very deep bass quality to them.
You have to be careful with bass comparisons because you wouldn't want to compare a pair of headphones to a pair of speakers either with a separate sub or a bass cone built in. Instead, compare them to a normal pair of speakers.

Or could anyone help me try to choose one to invest in?

I'm looking for some decent (preferably wireless) headphones for my xbox 360 to use in my dorm room this year. I'd like it to be below $100. Ebay is fine with me, and I'm thinking they should be open, because my main purpose for getting them is to game and watch netflix late at night after my roommate goes to sleep. The minimal research I've done comes up with a lot of Turtle Beach headphones, anyone know if those are a good investment? If so, which model?
Is the Grado SR60i good for gaming and movies? [editline]9th August 2011[/editline] If not, then what is are some good 60-100 dollar headphones for gaming, movies, and mostly rock.

They're good for gaming though.
Could someone recommend me a pair of earbuds? My budget is $70 and I listen to rock, electronica, and some classical.
i have no actual taste in music and listen to things from games i play as a substitue
Spot on. So no one has any advice for me?

To be honest, I'd go for whatever one you can find at the best price/you prefer the looks or physical features of. That said, the Shure's have the a boosted mid-bass and the worse low-end response. The AudioTechnica's are the most neutral sounding. The Ultrasone's are similar to the AudioTechnica's but have a more pronounced mid-range. The Beyerdynamic's have a more hollow midrange but emphasis the high-end.
where did i say they had good highs? anyways how are the hd201's and hd 202's different? shouldn't the hd 202's be better given sennheiser's naming scheme?
shrill means a high-pitched and piercing in tone or sound, when HD202 have really poor highs, so no they aren't shrill, and HD201 are better, that second reply wasn't meant for you though.
Well I know this is headphones but... can anyone recommend a good 2.1 speaker systems (for computer / 50 gaming / 30 music / 20% movie) use? And one that won't break the bank (ie $50 or less). I have some good headphones already but I'm moving my computer up to my room, so now speakers won't bother people in the house. I currently have those stock dell speakers that everyone seems to have.

Most of the alternatives around that price range such as the Logitech Z313 are pretty terrible.

With NCIX if you have a partnership account then they are even cheaper, if you live in a region where there is no warehouse then you don't pay tax and if you got their earlier shipping deal then shipping is free. If $50 with tax included is your max budget then there are no good options. Just save up some more money until you can afford a better set.
Oh well yes you see sir, I'm American. And a Windows user. Thus I've never heard of those stores. I checked most "typical" places (amazon, newegg, the company's website, just plain old googleing) and it was $100 USD. Thank you for your suggestion but I will probably go with something cheaper that I can get at a place I've actually heard of before and ships from the US.
