I can't think of any other closed headphones in that budget, but lower there's JVC HARX-700 which I'm in love with. There's also the nasty bass bloated XB-500.
Thank you very much, I'll get the MDR-V6.
Now, would you suggest a sound card please?
Honestly, everyone would say Xonar DG but I really don't think it's that good. Mine crackled a lot when I used any of the Dolby Headphone / EAX features. You really don't need a sound card unless you have an older computer with an AC97 soundcard. Realtek and VIA onboard HD audio works well.
If anyone wants a Xonar DG I'll sell my used one to them for $10 + whatever shipping costs.
Dead honest, the Corsair HS1 is the headset to go for if your looking for comfort, build quality, looks, good size (for big ears) and able to fold nicely. it can fold to where the ear cups lay flat on your desk for when you set it down.
The build quality is awesome. Sound quality is great, nothing amazing but pretty damn good.
I'd recommend this headset, worth every penny. (its $100)

no
for that money you could buy a desk mic stand, a pair of (good) headphones, and a good microphone.

Before you buy (unless you already have) the V6's are good (except from being uncomfortable for most people) but if you listen to D&B/Dubstep mostly
you're not going to get the bass you want out of them.

These will be a lot more fun for you, they could use a bit of tweaking out of the box though via an EQ.

If you're going to be using an EQ anyways, what's wrong with EQing a better more neutral headphone to your liking?
The bass and low's on the V6 will never be as fun and immersing the XB500's EQing or not, base your headphone purchase on the kind of music you enjoy and you'll be given a better experience, but if you are an all round listener neutral headphones are a good idea.
But once you listen to bass heavy music on the XB-series its very hard to go to back to a neutral headphone, they're just so fun. There are alternatives for more bass like ZX700's, SRH840's and HD-280's but for they can get quite pricey.
I did forget to mention though, the XB-series leak so much they can be used as speakers and are pretty massive, would not wear these out of my house.

Hmm, sending back my XB-700's, you mention the HD-280's. Do you mean these? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD280pro-Closed-Monitoring-Headphones/dp/B000065BPB/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315659828&sr=8-1
Or would the HD 380''s be better for £10 more? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-380-Pro-Collapsible/dp/B001UE6I0G/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1315659839&sr=8-3
Post on http://www.head-fi.org/ for better advice honestly.
Budget: €100 (about 140 US dollars, but shit here is always more expensive so think of it as 100$)
eBay: No
Country: Sweden, I would prefer some headphones that I can buy in a nearby store rather than importing them from some country far away.
Isolation: I would prefer if noise didn't leak out, but it doesn't really matter.
Purpose:
80% Music
20% Gaming
Musical Tastes:
Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal such as Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Annihilator and Slayer.
I currently have some Creative 1337proG4M1NG f4t4l33ty whatever gaming crap so I would prefer something better than that.
I also have a X-Fi XtremeGamer gaming crap sound card, I don't know it actually does anything better than the onboard sound card, but the drivers are a pile of crap and I have to restart them like every 5th hour or sound will not work.
[editline]fuckiforgottoaddthisoriginally[/editline]
Also, not anything extremely uncomfortable, years ago I had some Koss Porta headphones which felt like a torture device and then victimized parts of my hair every time I took them off.
Anyone?
On my current headphones the left speaker only works sometimes and it's becoming a pain in the ass.
[editline]asdfadsf[/editline]
Fuck, now they don't work at all.
srh840 vs ath m50 anyone? not sure what to go with. 840's are $130 m50's are $160

How did the M50s get to $160? I paid $99 for mine last year on amazon.

They were creating such a buzz on head-fi.com that Audio Technica fucking jacked the price. Fucking jews.
I hope these are actually good, cause this is the first time I've ever seen this thread and I bought these a couple days ago, the blue and white ones. Since they are having 30% off. I think I remember the price being 60 bucks for them.
They look decent...
http://shop.steelseries.com/us/audio/steelseries-siberia-v2-full-size-headset.html
They come in this tuesday(13th) so, I'd make sure I'd post back about them!
They're ok for a "gaming" headset but that's about it, used alot in e-sports due to sponsors and whatnot.
Not satisfied with my HD558's, currently working on selling them.
Considering getting some M50's, but not sure.
What I want is something I can bring with me, durability, portability and isolation is key here and the M50's seems to fit my criteria, would love some input on this.
The M50's will fit the isolation, portability and durability key quite well, although they probably won't be as
comfortable as the 558's but the sound quality will be very similar.
Anyone have Sennheiser PC 330s?? How are they?

How will the comfort be lacking?
Also is it possible to replace the pads on the m50 with cloth ones similar to the 558?
Going to order a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50 in a couple of hours to replace my broken Creative Fata1lity hurrgaming headphones.
I've seen most reviews of this being positive, is there anything horribly wrong with these headphones that I should know of?

Please tell me how the bass is and mids, etc. I want some with some crisp mids, as long as the bass isn't overpowering or non-existant.
Budget:
$40-$80 (lower is better :v: )
EBay:
No.
Country:
US
Isolation:
Doesn't really matter in my position, I'll go with open though, if the sound quality is better.
Purpose:
50/50 on gaming and music.
Musical Tastes:
I'm kind of all over the place, in general though:

Stuff like This.
A lot of Poppy stuff too.
You can check my last.fm under my avatar for a little more info.
Looking at the OP, I'm thinking about going with the Koss PortaPros plus a Zalman clip-on mic, it would keep the price hovering around $50. But I thought I'd see if someone had better suggestions based on my needs. Thanks much!
Ok guys, new spec:
Budget:
£50-100 (lower is better )
EBay:
No.
Country:
UK
Isolation:
Preferably, since i'll also be using them at i44/i45.
Purpose:
80% music
20% gaming/voicechat (while gaming)
Musical Tastes:
Mixture of dubstep/drumstep, metal and dance. Strange mixture I know.
Preferably one with a microphone, or else recommendations for a clip-on mic please :)
They aren't really for gaming. For gaming, you'd probably want a Sennheiser open or semi-open. Like an HD555.
I know, but I listen to music way more than I play games.
The reason I had the Creative Fatal1ty headphones was because I got them for free a couple of years ago.
What are some alternatives to the M50's? Coming from HD558's I still want the brilliant music listening experience, just with isolation, portability and less flimsy plastic.
[editline]13th September 2011[/editline]
M50's are kinda expensive, and I always wanna know my alternatives before I make a decision.
I have the Keid 20 headset. I don't know if they're labeled "~pro gaming headset~" but I find them to be balanced in music and gaming for a good price iirc.
I recommend it.
Got my M50's yesterday, they are fucking awesome!
Got my M50's yesterday, they are fucking awesome!
Do you have anything to compare them too?
Would love an experience based comparison to the Sennheiser HD5xx headphones.
So I bought a pair turtleBeach x11's last year because I was really suprised with the mic quality (Terrible Move on my part) but I was thinking about taking them back for in store credit at best buy because I dont really ever use them, So I was wondering what are the best headphones I could get at best buy for around $70 and I am totally willing to toss in more money if it is worth it.
Purpose: 80% music 20% gaming

If I remember correctly, you love bass. So, maybe the XB500's?
