I had the AKG 702K, but I returned them because the sound leakage was annoying my family.
Any recommendations on a high quality closed or noise cancelling pair?

Music Tastes:My Tastes range from Kid Cudi to Nine Inch Nails but i do listen to a lot of Queen and The Beatles as well. Mainly for synth heavy electronic music. Here is an example of what I've been listening to lately: http://vimeo.com/29070091

Anyone?
Budget: around £50
Purchase from: Play.com, Amazon or another trusted site that sells them new
Country: UK
Isolation: Closed
Purpose: For music, and PC gaming
Music Tastes: Dubstep, DnB, electronic, indie, rock, metal
Previous Experiences: I have a few sets of headphones but this time I really need some that don't leak sound.
Comments: I get a bus to and from college every Monday, Thursday and Friday and its a 50 minute journey so I really could do with some Good headphones that don't Leak sound as There nothing i hate more than ignorant cunts on the bus that either use the shitty standard iPod earphones that leak sound like speakers or shit over ear headphones like skullcandy that do the same
Are there any GOOD headphones with a mic on them for somewhere between 50-90 dollars? I'm really looking for good sound quality the mic doesn't have to be professional grade or anything just something to use to talk to people on games.

If you actually read the Thread you would have noticed it tells you "NOT" to buy a headset, And with good reason, If its for console gaming fair enough because you cant use a stand alone mic, But for pc gaming I would spend the money on a really good set of headphones and a cheap standalone mic because its much better and more rewarding
Budget: I am pretty flexible, though below $150 would be nice.
eBay: Always an option
Country: Denmark
Purpose: Listening to music 95% of the time
Music Tastes: indie rock, rock
Previous Experiences: Fatal1ty and Apple ear-buds.
I think I would like some ear-buds again, but they really would have to be with quality sound, not that I noticed that much when I just listened to my Apple ones, but when I changed to my Fatal1ty I instantly heard the difference, but, yeah as I said I would really like some new ear-buds which are of a better quality than the Apple ones.
I have been looking at the JustBeats by Justin Bieber (just kidding, okay that wasn't funny - moving along) I have been looking at the DiddyBeats (http://beatsbydre.com/products/Products.aspx?pid=B5624&cat=2), tour (http://beatsbydre.com/products/Products.aspx?pid=B5097&cat=2) and iBeats (http://beatsbydre.com/products/Products.aspx?pid=B5933&cat=2) - all by Monster from the Beats by dr. Dre serious.... but that is mostly because I have no experience whatsoever in headphones/ear-buds.
So anyone? What do you think? Right now I think the 'tour' ones are most suitable, probably because I think they are quite fashionable.
don't buy beats
don't buy beats
Any other suggestions then?
Budget: 90 USD,
eBay: Nope
Country: USA
Isolation: Really don't care, but sure
Purpose: Xbox gaming only. Already have a good set of cans.
Previous Experiences: Denon AHD1100s
Comments: My friends have convinced me to get an Xbox, and now I need a better microphone because my brother broke the crappy ones that came with the xbox. Everyone I ask says "loool dude get turtle beachez they are th bestezes!!1!", and due to previous experiences (Beats, Bose, etc.), I know the most popular opinion isn't always true. I've done some googling, and it seems that the two rivals are SteelSeries and Astro. In your experience, which are the best for the price?
Any other suggestions then?
well there's the most recommended headphone around, the ath-m50 @ $160. there's also the srh840, which can be had at guitar center if you ask them to price match @ $130.
the ath m50's are bright (sometimes a tad too much) and extend more on the low end than being flat. soundstage is good. has very crisp highs, hi-hats and cymbals are very tasty.
haven't had experience with the srh840 but i've read that it's soundstage isn't as stellar as the m50's, but is flatter. that's all i know. they're supposed to be great headphones too though, look them up.
then there's some knock-offs that sound very nice and may compete with more expensive models, such as the superlux hd668b. some ones to note are the Panasonic RP-HTF600-S (http://www.head-fi.org/products/panasonic-rp-htf600-s-step-monitor) & the Samson SR850 (http://www.head-fi.org/t/546544/samson-sr850-superlux-oem-review-a-50-budget-champion).
do some more research, there's another definite pair of phones that are competitive with he m50's, just can't remember. look up reviews on amazon for all of these headphones and any you look for. also head-fi is a great site, look at the forums.
I love my ATH-M50s
Ok so I want a pair of headphones that I will be wearing on Bus journeys and at college, So I need them to not leak sound, I can go over the budget but only if I find it worth it, I need them to have good bass I listen to allot of Dubstep and electronic music, But I do also listen to Indie and other non electronic music so I still want them to be decent for all kinds of music, Also as they are for wearing out I need them to look decent too. Because id rather not be sitting there with horrible looking headphones on...
Any suggestions?
I'm looking for a pair of headphones to enjoy music with and experience BF3's sound with a bang. I'm currently looking at the Sennheiser HD555 headphones and the price is pushing what I would spend on headphones, so I'm looking for some opinions on the pair here.
These are mainly the key points I want to know about these:
- Are they durable? I don't want to hand out £85 for them to break in a few months. I'd be expecting something this price to last over a year at least.
- Is the sound quality worth the buck? I don't want to just hear the sound in games, I want to feel it.
- Not as important because I've learned to deal, but are they comfortable?
- I'm reading in some places that you can mod these (basically pull off a bit of foam) and the quality will further increase to be similar to the 595's, anyone tried this?
I previously owned Sennheiser HD212pro headphones and I loved them, and I'm pretty sure they were much cheaper.

-somewhat, i wouldn't travel with them a lot but they're not known for breaking
-quite, it's sennheiser so you're not gonna get disappointed unless you're into bass, in which case you will be. It's there and it's adequate for games and most genres of music but anything techno/trance/dnb/dubstep/etc will sound flat. They can be eq'ed to suit your needs but if you're a basshead, look elsewhere. So as to not end on a negative note, they do sound great otherwise.
-Incredibly.
-Yes, I own the sennheiser HD558 which is the newer (and quite a bit more expensive) version of the 555's (just for the record they're almost identical) and the mod can be done on the 558's as well as the 555's. basically you open up the headphones and behind the driver element is a tiny bit of foam covering part of the back which hinders the driver from pulling in air. Removing it makes everything sound mure lush and helps bass a bit, so definitely worth it considering it takes 5 minutes at most and is completely safe unless you're an imbecile.
The 555's are discontinued in favor of the 558's so shop around and make sure you're getting a good price if you're buying the 555's.

Though if you're on a budget, i suggest you look into some of the budget headphones mentioned in this thread and on head-fi.org, basically the superlux hd668b, samson sr850 and the Panasonic RP-HTF600-S drummerundrcovr mentioned. Basically don't limit yourself to one brand or vendor, check head-fi and such because there are plenty of choices.

Could you tell me more about your experience with the 558's (Pretty much same questions as before)? I'm now considering them. It's a little more but if they're going to last and they're good I have no problem with pushing it.

Tha 555's and the 558's are basically the same headphones, they look a bit different and aparently the 558's sound a tiny bit better in some regards according to some people but i haven't tried the 555's so i can't compare them personally. Thing is, the 555's are quite a bit cheaper since they're discontinued by sennheiser, so if you find an outlet store or something you could get a pair for not a lot of money at all. As i said they're basically the same so it's not like you're missing out on anything and I dare even say the 555's are a smarter purchase if you can find it for cheap.
As I said in my first post I found them on Amazon for £85. I'll look around and see what I can find out about both, thanks!

Speaking of which, I've used these for a while, and they are really nice for how much I paid for them ($40).
Budget: Anywhere from £50 - £80/90
Country: UK
Isolation: Closed back
Purpose: Will use the headphones for a) studio recording since I'm studying sound production at college. Must have good isolation for when I'm setting up a microphone while listening to it back through headphones while someone is playing their instrument.
Music Tastes: Ranges from Mumford + Sons, to Neutral Milk Hotel, to Deadmau5. Nothing too bassy, but a nice warm sound.
Previous Experiences: Sennheiser HD202s, had a great sound and isolation until they started to slacken, and want something a bit better.
Comments: Would like to order the heaphones from somewhere in the UK, preferably with free shipping, or a shop in Glasgow/Falkirk where I could go and have a listen to the heaphones first (ideal).
Cheers guys.

What kind? You'd probably enjoy the XB (extra bass) line, they are all sealed headphones in multiple price ranges. There's full size and in ear headphones.
also look at monster turbine if you're looking to spend that much

Ive got a pair of XB500's but they look pretty disgusting on person so I wouldn't wear them out of the house, and yeah there really good. also ive just bought some now so I do not need further help, I have bought "JVC HA-M5X / Xtreme Xplosives On Ear Headphones" They have just been released very recently and I got them cheap probably to see if they can sell, They have a 50mm neodymium driver so Im gonna see what they are like, There isn't any reviews of them i can find so it will be cool to find out myself, Hopefully ive picked up something i wont be sending back

yeah... and you called the XB-500 disgusting
Been looking at the Sennheirser HD25s, thinking about getting them from rubadub.co.uk since they have a shop in town that I can go and try them out in. Thoughts?
Budget: As cheap as possible, but sub-£75.
Country: UK (South)
Isolation: Closed Full-Size
Purpose: ~Gayming~ and also music, occasionally portable. Isolation is a plus but not required (if anything, my current headphones isolate too well)
Music Tastes: Electronica, occasional Drum & Bass, and also some pop stuff. Artists in my library include Justice, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, and Digitalism, but I also have some ELO, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton that I'd like to do justice (heh).
Previous Experiences: Currently using a G35 (yeah rip me a new one) and they've done me fantastically, they're starting to get pad wear though and if Logitech Support keep pissing about like they are right now I'll be buying a new set (hence the recommendation call)
Comments: If and when I do buy these (it all hinges on if this support ticket goes through) I'll probably be buying a Xonar to go along with them.
Since this is basically a thread where people love music, I have a question. I have this subwoofer which has jacks for a sub-out on a receiver. I don't have a receiver, any chance I can find a soundcard with a sub-out?
[editline]14th October 2011[/editline]
Can I use something like this and use the S/PDIF coaxial out?
I bought the Sennheiser HD25Cs (since the standards were out of stock, a tenner extra and came with the curled cable. Skinned me of £150 :L
So good though, certainly worth it.
They certainly look better than the XB-500, id never leave the house with mine, Might aswell walk outside with 2 giant black circular pillows on my ears with some black tape holding them together. Id look pro as fuck

I do not approve of the camo padding, red cord or giant XX written on the side but i do agree that sony's XB headphones are not something I would wear in public. Still those JVC's are only a small step up...

The only thing that ruins it for me is the camo padding, Otherwise I don't think they are too bad, But ive also bought a pair of PANASONIC HTX7's because I love the look of them, and have a great sound. Although they don't have great bass So im going to send the one I dislike the Most back.
