Generally speaking, headsets get you less for your money than headphones and a separate microphone.

Bad sound quality.
Bad mic quality.
Happy now?

See, that wasn't so hard.
But actually, sound quality is quite nice to me, and the mic's pretty good, imo

It's one of the better offerings with a built-in mic, but is fairly poor in comparison to proper headphones
Trying to convince a friend to not buy Beats By Dr. Dre, and are the Ultrasone HFI-780 a good choice over the Beats? Just want to make sure.

Nvm, I convinced him to get MDR-XB300's. They will be feasible for what he wants.
Do the Sennheiser 555HDs require an amplifier?
Would it be a good idea to get (for both gaming and music) just a "Sennheiser HD 558 Audiophile Headphones with Internal Surround Reflector" and a "Zalman Zm-Mic1 High Sensitivity Headphone Microphone," as suggested by Amazon? I'm afraid I'm not very experienced at buying this kind of stuff
Is the Panasonic RP-HTF600-S worth the $30 above the Sennheiser HD201? How much and where will I really notice it? Is the isolation good?

Sounds good, just get the 555 if you want to save some dollarz
I'd also recommend doing an ultra simple mod that you can find online for either one that basically turns them into the higher number variant. An idiot could do it.
So my JVC HA-RX700 headset just broke, and I am looking for something new with good sound quality.
I am thinking of buying the Sony MDR-V6, but I am confused as it says they are monitoring headphones. Which I thought meant that they try to make the sound flatter. Could someone help or give me suggestions? I will be mainly listening Electronic music and gaming a little bit. Thanks!
[editline]7th November 2011[/editline]
Also I am in the $50-70 range.
Also are the Sennheiser HD 448's any good?
Okay fuck, the HD555s are sold out on Amazon, and are $160+ on other websites. Should I get the 558s? They're $145.
ATH-M50 for that price
OR I could get the AD700s for 100. These are for gaming/rock/TV/movies.

Would I need an amplifier for the AD700s?

Well I broke mine on accident, I stepped (extremely hard) and they flew towards the ground and one of the wires snapped. Also I don't have the box anymore, I think I am just going to order a new pair of these.

it goes to like 2000 DPI or something crazy
Budget: $70 - 90 AUD
eBay: Sure
Country: Australia
Isolation: Not needed but would be nice
Purpose: Gaming and music
Music Tastes: Metal, DnB, Electronica, Techno, Orchestral
I already have a mic so that's fine.
that's about it.
I bought a pair of wireless headphones on EBay for 10 quid.
Turns out they just supplied the headphones and the usb plug.
They had cut the wire and removed all trace of it.

Thanks, and another question: Are the "Audio Technica ATH-AD700 Open-air Dynamic Audiophile Headphones" any better in any way, or should I just stick to the Sennheisers?
