So if I can get the 448s shipped to my house for $50, and I like using my HD 201s that will be arriving tomorrow, entirely worth it? Would I need an amp or like a Xonar DG? I just have onboard right now.
It would probably make some difference, but I don't I know if I'd spend $30 on a soundcard/amp when the headphones are only $50
True. I'm not an audiophile anyway, about the best sounding device I have is my phone and my Sennheiser CX385s. I love Sennheiser :v: My last pair of headphones were Skullcandy TIs which were alright sounding but uncomfortable as shit and broke within the week so I hope my HD 201s will fare better, and if I like headphones, I'll probably pass off the 201s to my sister or use it as as backup and get the 448s. They look comfy. Actually I take back my first sentence, I used DSP Manager on my Xoom to make music sound more natural. Still, my point still stands.
I have a paid of 201s as a backup for my ATH-M50s, the 201s are nice, but my ATH-M50s are orgasmic
These mere $30 headphones are getting alot of praise compared to headphones costing much more for being fun. http://www.head-fi.org/t/571005/the-panasonic-rp-htf600-s-headphones-more-fun-than-the-hd650/120 Whoever reads this and is after a headphone should consider buying one of these. For music pleasure these are scoreing big bang for buck in this area. [editline]14th November 2011[/editline] Holy....omg I just put these on, listening to some Derek and the Dominos...the guitars...the bass...the drums and the vocals! These blow the Kickers/Monoprices I was listening to SOOO far out of the water... I'm very glad that you enjoy them. They are completely out of this world in terms of their musical nature And now, I'm mad. These sound so off the chain...I can't even begin to describe all the positive attributes this 30 dollar can has. I'm literally speechless...All of my other phones, I am now seriously considering why I even need them...because I feel like selling off my DT990's and my MK2's to get 2 MORE PAIRS OF THESE. Even the Kickers I don't need anymore (which are now officially a rip-off compared to this Panasonic). The sound is absolutely tremendous. So much air between the instruments. The highs are pristine, beautiful, and butter-smooth. The mids are certainly forward, and brilliant in being executed to the ears. The bass - my goodness. Authoritative and delicious. Just add this headphone to your favorite meal, a king's banquet for sure. The whole entire package is ridiculously sublime. I connected mine to the E9, and was floored at EVERYTHING. Even the comfort, more comfortable than the Denon AHD-2000, and it sounds better to me (yes, you read that right). I just cannot believe this is it. Seriously, this headphone has put every other phone I own into serious peace-out territory. I can't even find a con at all, it seems to A-list at everything. I'm definitely putting a review on Amazon on these within a week, and perhaps right along with some of my other phones on the sell list. Incredible... Will come back with more detailed results after burn-in... This is unreal...

do tell me how they are, I'd like to know if I should go with the HD 448s or those if I decide to upgrade eventually
do tell me how they are, I'd like to know if I should go with the HD 448s or those if I decide to upgrade eventually
well from the overwhelming response that thread got I'd say it's safe to go with those without even needing to listen to them (they're comparing them ($30) to HD 650s ($360), lol)
Budget:£50 - 60 eBay: Don't mind. Country: United Kingdom Isolation: Not really needed, would be a nice bonus. Purpose: Gaming, Music and the occasional film. Music Tastes: French House, DnB, Dubstep I really need some headphones.
I have the XB-700s and love them. I've tried the XB-500s at a local store, and I think they had waaay too much bass in that it ruined songs for me by destroying the mids. If bass is your ONLY concern, go with the XB-500s. I listen to a lot of French / Electro House + Dubstep too, and the XB-700s are great. Not as much bass as the XB-500s, but definitely enough for me as well as more overall clarity. If you have the money, go for the XB-700s (£60 on Amazon.co.uk). For the microphone, get Zalman's Zm-Mic1. You can clip it on to the cables of whatever headphone you get, and it sounds great! However, the cables on the XB-700 are flat to prevent tangling (awesome!), but the Zalman mic won't clip on to them at first. So, I just wrapped a little bit of electrical tape around the cables and the Zalman mic stays right on. Sony MDR-XB700: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDRXB700-Giant-Headphones-Driver/dp/B001UE6PE0 Zalman Zm-Mic1: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zalman-Microphone-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone/dp/B00029MTMQ (I don't understand why it has such poor reviews on the .co.uk site, check out the .com to see many more reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/). Should put you at £65. A nice pair of headphones are definitely worth the investment, though.

Help me come to an ultimatum. Panasonic HTF600 or Sennheiser HD 448 - if I want something comfortable for extended periods of gaming/music/whatnot, which one is better? And should I even bother with an amp if I can find one for like $25?

I just have weird ears and am afraid that it won't be as comfortable. I was trying to find some velour pads for them but they were discontinued according to Amazon.
Are you talking of the difference between discrete cards or onboard as well? Because a lot of motherboards prior to sandy bridge-ish have really poor sound chips and/or a layout leading to interference
In my experience, nearly all of my integrated chips have been pieces of junk. Going from a nice dedicated card to an integrated chip blows my mind every time I do that. With a pair of cheap sound quality headphones or the like, you won't be able to see a massive difference, but even with moderate quality ones you likely will instantly.
I was originally thinking of going for the HD201 but now those HTF600 have really got my attention.
make your own, you aren't going to find any jesus dude you're buying ~$30 headphones, you can't afford to be picky
I don't want to make my own for a $30 pair of headphones, it's just not worth it, no matter what kinds of headphones it's supposedly comparable to. I guess I'm basing my experience off of my old shitty Skullcandies so when I use my HD201s today when I get home, maybe I won't give a fuck.
Repost: Headphones: My current headset is a "gaming" headset I bought a while ago and it's falling apart. I bought a desk mic when this one's mic broke, so i'm looking for a pair of headphones now. I can spend about 70-100 dollars. Not looking to go over. I'm going to be playing a fair amount of games and watching TV and movies. I also listen to a lot of genres, so I guess I'm looking for something pretty rounded out, rather than excelling in one category. I read the OP and was looking at these: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-V6-Mo.../dp/B00001WRSJ What do you guys think? Budget: 70-150USD eBay: Preferably not. Country: USA Isolation: Doesn't matter. Purpose: Gaming, Movies, TV, Music, everything. Music Tastes: Instrumental, Vocals, Rock, House. Previous Experiences: Plantronics headsets, never again. Comments: Above text. IEMs: I'm also looking for a new pair of IEMs. I've had my current Sony MDR-XB40EXs for almost 4 years now, and I'm absolutely in love with them, and I'm looking to try out some new ones. Budget: 70-150USD eBay: Preferably not. Country: USA Isolation: Preferable, but not a deal-breaker. Purpose: Music. Music Tastes: Instrumental, Vocals, Rock, House. Previous Experiences: Sony MDR-XB40EXs (Love them), Shit Skullcandy earphones Comments: Above text.
For headphones I can recommend the ATH-M50(s) you will not be disappointed [editline]14th November 2011[/editline] currently $159 on Amazon
going to order a pair of these tomorrow
Yea people go on about selling his or her headphones with some people on that thread, no headphone is perfect but then yea, even the m 50s with someone on that thread off headfi. Easy to drive if you get a amp they will sound more bassy/louder but with amps they tighten the bass. Even heard a comment from rpgwizard that he perfers this headphone the panasonic hft 600 over the dt770 regarding bass. Yea the guy who did posted and his post number is number 2 who compared it to the hd650 but everyone includeing me agree that this headphone does not sound like a budget headphone like a skullcandy nor is it muddy so to speak and people who have played bf3 love the bass these give. These headphones reach down to 30hz in terms of bass and that is sub bass terrority. Those comments are honest and not hype it is called a gem and one person called it unqiue another said it's like 2 headphones in one prehaps because of the bass not interfering hardly with the mids being so forward but then yea. This headphone blows others out of the water regarding its price compared to others near it's price according to one person off headfi and i would have to agree but i have not tried them all agree that it performs above its 30 usd price tag as to what you expect at this price point. I will buy these for £30 off amazon to see what they mean people have to be honest on headfi or you will be stung. These are regarded as a budget king well it would be one of the best if not the best for 30 dollars regarding bass etc it shows experiance and inexperiance with people but for 30 usd it does live up to it or whatever price it is it has gone up with well most shops or whatnot i don't know. Another said with velour pads they make no difference with sound well it would scientifically but then it makes little notice. Whoever buys this won't regret it and you can't complain at this price point.

Just got my HD201s first impressions: ears touch the monitors, kind of odd feeling, bass is lacking but clearly there, not good for anything bass heavy damn good quality for $15 and sounds acceptable let me boot up skyrim and tell you how it sounds
