Heh, would I need the Xonar DG still if I got a Crosshair IV Formula mobo?
Update: My budget has gone too roughly $325-$350 now.
don't ask here go to head-fi
Xonar DG has a headphone amp if you want some serious large cans, and look at Head Fi for some good over-the-ears, and a decent mic will cost you $15 tops.
Thanks guys, I'll go over and check out Head-Fi and I'll keep the Denon cans in mind... Sorry if I'm being a hassle with my lack of knowledge.
Your mind will be blown if you get the right headphones, possible amp and soundcard with that budget. Music will sound so amazing
Well, sometimes your onboard can have some interference honestly. If you don't, though, a soundcard isn't really going to provide you with an increase in sound quality. And amping doesn't simply increase loudness, it helps drive high impedance headphones which is a little different.
This. I had to settle on getting a basic sound card since the built in sound on my used motherboard had audible electrical interference. Any activity I was doing on the computer would emit certain kinds of buzzes, varying in speed and pitch, out onto a connected headset or speaker.
I know you guys said the Panasonic RP-HTF600E-S would be good, but how do they compare to the Sennheiser HD 428s?
Your mind will be blown if you get the right headphones, possible amp and soundcard with that budget. Music will sound so amazing
I understand your attitudes about audiophile but then if you want a taste of audiophile you should try the t50rp as i said. It does not hurt to get a soundcard at least. I know your attitude is that you can't be stuffed but you should get a asus xonar dg, it is affordable less then the headphone it's self and has a build in headphone amp which should beef up the pannys easy.
I haven't noticed any difference between my A700 with Realtek and my A700 with my X-Fi Titanium, a huge percentage of FLAC is 16 bit 44khz (which realtek supports) so no [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] background noise? wut
The soundcard simply sucks. Before you bitch, I have it myself. Only makes it louder, yes. An amp also controls the bass a ton better, meanwhile it also makes it play a lot louder, and cleaner. [editline]17th November 2011[/editline]
Heh, would I need the Xonar DG still if I got a Crosshair IV Formula mobo?
Yes. It's TORTURING those cans if you don't have a decent amp for them.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=28&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=284 This is my realtek, it appears to have a built-in headphone amp (ctrl+f amplifier). Is a sound card worth it if I'm getting some decent (£40) headphones?

Budget: £50 - £80 (Roughly $75 - $125) eBay: Nope Country: England Isolation: Doesn't Matter Purpose: Gaming and general music listening Music Tastes: Anything rocky or guitary, as well as bass heavy dubstep type stuff. (Hint on the bass, I like bass) Previous Experiences: My only proper experiance would be with Sony MDR-XD200's, sound quality was fine for cheap headphones but the wires where way too thin and weak. Comments: Thanks :) I'm tempted to go with Sennheiser HD 428s but am sort of awaiting reply from here, although will need to pick some soon.
sennheisers aren't bassy, if you want bassy, Panasonic HTF600
Would the Logitech UE600vi's be good for general commuting to campus as well as on campus for with my iPhone?
At that price point get Klipsch Image S4is
At that price point get Klipsch Image S4is
Do they have an inline mic and remote?
Do they have an inline mic and remote?
the S4i is the model with iPhone controls and a mic http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-S4i-Premium-Noise-Isolating-3-Button/dp/B00264GYMG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321668663&sr=8-1
Alright. It just seems weird cause the logitech's are rated higher and cheaper.
trust me for sound you want to go for a brand that's well-known and focuses audio equipment
trust me for sound you want to go for a brand that's well-known and focuses audio equipment
Okay, thanks.
also on another note HD 201s for best sub $20 cans EVER i've gotten used to them on my head and it's fantastic how comfy they are and they sound great
Alright. It just seems weird cause the logitech's are rated higher and cheaper.
This is probably because of the different market types, Logitech is for marketed towards general consumers and klipsch is a little more audiophillic
I need some earphones for listening to music on my phone. I can't stand the in-ear ones. Budget is up to €40. I'd prefer Amazon or similar that ships to Denmark.
Budget: up to $75 eBay: ok Country: USA Isolation: dont really care, its just that closed ones tend to be too big to fit nicely Purpose: music. I want to listen out in public without feeling like a huge tool for having giant headphones. But I don't like in-ear ones or earbuds or anything like that. Music Tastes: i listen to everything so I'd just want something balanced Previous Experiences: I had some shitty sharper image ones that ended up lasting a very long time before they broke recently. I actually liked them a lot, but they weren't very good Comments: these are in the op and they look good, but are there any other ideas?
i've heard good things about these for the both of you http://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro-Headphones-with-Case/dp/B00001P4ZH/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_1
they look pretty bulky, but maybe I will look at them
What is the absolutely cheapest sound card I can possibly get my hands on that has coax digital out? I'm using optical from my motherboards intergraded to the control pod of my z-5500 sound system which acts as a rather nice DAC and amp. Problem is there's tons of bugs, largest of which is probably that when nothing is being transmitted it sort of drops the link between my computer and the pod, so when some sound does come the first ~0.5 seconds of it is completely cut off, something that is insanely annoying and that no amount of driver updates/reinstall seem to fix. Using 3.5mm plugs leads to some degradation in sound quality, it's not massive but I notice it. I'm only assuming here that there will not be any quality degradation using coax as even if the sound card i use is shit, it's still entirely digital. Right? So again, what is the cheapest sound card money can buy in this country that has coax out?
Budget:£50 - 60 eBay: Don't mind. Country: United Kingdom Isolation: Would be a nice bonus. Purpose: Gaming, Music and film Music Tastes: Everything
