Exactly. Head-Fi is a great way for some audiophile to shove his $500 headphones down your throat but not much else.

and I say it because if you haven't noticed, a lot of people here don't know very much when it comes to peripherals
no sense in having someone drop a large amount of money on something that isn't the best they could have gotten
Holiday time, parents are asking me what I want and I know I need a new headset
Budget: ~$200
eBay: Nothing used/opened
Country: Canada
Isolation: Open
Purpose: 40%music, 45% gaming, 10% teamspeak, 5% movies
Music Tastes: Dubstep, dnb, techno, house, hardstyle, just electronic pretty much
I really wanted the HD598s, they're beautiful, and I found them really cheap.. but they wouldn't ship to canada so shipping is first priority.
thanks!

Way out of your budget.
Might I suggest the XB-700s? They fit well with that style of music.
He wants open. I suggest 595s if you wanted 598s and can't afford them.

Oh, didnt see that.
595s will be your best bet.
I didn't think 595's had good bass.
£35-50 headphones (overear or in-ear, doesn't matter), closed, going to be used for music (Dnb, dubstep, electro, bit of rock/accoustic) and some gaming?
Arrantly the HTF600's are supposed to be the best in that range.

I'm looking for in-ear headphones for listening to music in crowded but silent places
Budget: about $100
eBay: No
Country: The Netherlands
Isolation: Closed
Purpose: Music only
Music Tastes: Diverse, rock, metal but also hip-hop
Previous Experiences: My previous earphones were Sennheiser CX-550, they're pretty nice but I'm looking for something more expensive

Btw, are there any brands that I should stay away from? I know that Skullcandy is pretty bad, anything else?

ATH-M50? I have them and they're amazing.
Alright guys, thanks for the suggestions! If I can find somewhere with 595s or 598s cheap enough I'll jump on them, but right now I am staring at 558s for only $136, and then I can get it discounted further, but I am not sure how much. If it is from futureshop.ca, I can get a good discount. Are 558s good for gaming though? I know they're good for music.
And what do you guys think of AKG headphones?
Budget: under the 100 USD mark

Country: Denmark.
Isolation: Closed.
Type: Over-the-ear (I hate on-the-ear with a passion)
Purpose: Mostly music, then games and a little bit of VOIP and movies.
Music Tastes: Practically everything from Rock to Dubstep.
Previous Experiences: A somewhat decent Empire headset, problem is that the cable was incredibly fragile and broke, otherwise it was decent for the price.
And a overpriced "surround sound" Sharkoon headset, it was junk.
Comments: Would like the headset (IF ONE) to have a decent microphone.
If not a headset but headphones, then budget includes a nice mic that doesn't sound like utter shit. Not demanding voice acting quality though.
I'd like it to be able to deliver a nice & deep bass-line, hence the mention of Dubstep
And for the love of god, NO USB based headset, or headphones + microphone combo's, since I'd like to be able to use it with my phone too, even if that means I'd have to buy a transportable amplifier later on to go with it.
EDIT: It's ok the Mic is connected via USB, but it MUST be a clip-on
I think that's that.
So I am going to get some Audio Technica M50's for christmas and it said in the OP that an amp was essential, I know little about the amps so I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on what type? Make? etc
My price range is about £30 to £50 in the UK.

an amp is not essential or even recommended for M50s, they're low impedance so you won't see any gain from an amp
I never got my recommendation from page 43
Anything good here?

Looking for a set of portable headphones or IEMs in a ~$50-100 range. I'd prefer the focus to be on clear vocals instead of something like bass

I just broke my headphones and would like some new ones.
I'm willing to spend up to about £50 on them, I listen to a lot of voice, like let's plays and shit, I also listen to rock, well, basically this shit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuDtACzKGRs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3lndvRhS_M
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7F2X3rSSCU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIYOlEJ6lRo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb05dsRJyWk&feature=related
That sort of stuff.
I don't need a microphone of course. Durability is cool too.
In the UK please.
(Saw these here, what about them? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-RP-HTF600E-S-High-HiFi-Headphone/dp/B002R5ABPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322405466&sr=8-1 )
open ear only please.
The Panasonic ones are apparently closed, though not that much from what I hear.

So...
What's FP's opinion on Turtle Beach headsets?

But i just got one as a gift.
I'd like to know what you guys opinion are on them.

Basically the worst headsets you can get, they have a few cool products like their DACs, though, which are honestly a good deal.
