That's one of the things I love about my XB-500s. It's like pillows on my head.
I went to Bestbuy a few days ago and they had XB-500s on display and oh my god they were the softest headphones i have ever worn. Couldn't say anything about sound quality though b/c the user was supposed to hook up their MP3 player on it, and I left mine in the car
that doesn't happen? have fun having like 3/4 of the cable actually usable because any further than that is going to pull the phones off of your head
I don't know about you but my ATH-M50 are tight on my head with the band adjusted properly. The loosely coiled cable that stretches very easily is not going to pull them off. The only problem I've had so far is my mic cable gets stuck in the coil sometimes.
I'm not using a coiled cord right now because it's too heavy for my headphones, pulling them down.
You have the same amount of cable, it's just coiled. Coiling the cable doesn't make it heavier.
So I'm from Denmark and I'm looking for a new pair of headphones that I can use to listen to music/talk with buddies/play games (I have a mic so prefferably a headset without a built in mic). If someone could recommend a good pair that doesn't break, which mine is about to do, within the 600kr (100dollars, 80euroes) range. If you could use either www.pricerunner.dk or www.edbpriser.dk, that would be really great.

Any metalheads with IEM's here?
Returned both my 595's and ATH-M50's and ordered the 598's. Tomorrow is going to be a good day...
Worth going from the Sennheiser HD 201 (£15) to the HD 202 (£23)? Also, worth going from the E3 (£8) to the E5 (£14) for the above headphones, or should I be looking at others?

So, I bought HD518s quite a while ago and they're just lovely. I really don't like how long the cord is, but that's moot. Quite nice for a mid-level general purpose headphones. They're great for gaming with that Zalman mic, which I got for a dollar if I'm not mistaken. Would it be worth it to get an amp for it? They're usually plenty loud enough, but I think I'm mistaking the purpose of a headphone amp.

[editline]19th December 2011[/editline] Often the titchy mp3 players are only really designed with earbuds in mind, but someone more knowledgeable could back me up on this I hope.
Ah alright thanks. Just to test, I plugged my phones into my guitar amp, and my amp into my PC with a converter... and honestly it doesn't sound any different other than being hard to adjust the sound, so yeah. On the plus side, I can manually adjust bass, mids, and treble. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if £90 Logitech G35s are good replacement over my £10 from tescos Philips headset? I'm really considering buying them for christmas, everywhere I've looked says they're great. I mean, they really can't be any worse than my current ones.

No. You can get much better headphones for that price.
Of course they're better than your old headset. The real question is, are they worth the price? No. You can get much better headphones for that price.
Could you suggest a better headset for around the same price?
Could you suggest a better headset for around the same price?
We're not too keen on headsets. Their inclusion of a fitted microphone is at the cost of general sound quality and being more expensive than that they're worth. Gaming headphones are not "Engineered for the hardcore gamer". They're just a 50 pound headphone with a nice finish, mediocre build quality, an attached microphone and an inflated price slapped onto it. I think Odellus or someone else in here can suggest a good pair of headphones for you, and they'll suggest the Zalman clip-on microphone as well (clips on the cord of the headphone). Trust me, and them, that this is a far better solution than a headset. You'll get better sound, better build quality and for less money. Here's someone using a headphone + Zalman. You won't be dissapointed.
Sp what would be the best headphones for $50-60? Or are the ones listed in the OP ones I should look into already..
you don't need an amp for those headphones as a matter of fact I'm surprised it's an audible difference
Head-Fi consensus seems to be that it's not needed; but removes some of the treble's shrillness and generally sounds a little better.
Returned both my 595's and ATH-M50's and ordered the 598's. Tomorrow is going to be a good day...
You know you can turn the 595's into 598 quality by removing a little piece of foam inside them?
You know you can turn the 595's into 598 quality by removing a little piece of foam inside them?
Uhm, no. You're thinking about the 555 and 595's. The 5x8 series have completely different drivers. Not only that, but the grill design inside them are also are completely different.
That's the zalman in the same position he has it in. Wish I still had a working headset so I could show how much better their mics sound...

My year old Senhisers just kicked the bucket, so it's time to get some new earphones. Budget: Under £20. eBay: Yeah. Country: United Kingdom Isolation: Yes, preferably as much as possible. Purpose: Listening to my Ipod Music Tastes: Metal and Rock. That kind of stuff. I'm basically after something nice and clear sounding with a bit (but not too much) of bass. Clarity is the main thing I'm after as my headphones that just died didn't have much of it.
You're thinking of the wrong conversion. You can turn the 555 into the 595 by removing foam, and you can do the same with the 558 to turn it into the 598, but not 595->598.
I think I am thinking of the 558, which apparently is almost indistinguishable from the 598 once the foam is removed
