Hell, they should change it to that. Also, reccomend me some microphones tabletop? 10-50 dollars. They should also add this to OP http://www.head-fi.org/t/413900/how-to-equalize-your-headphones-a-tutorial
Tried that, but it was a bit over my head, that and the pink noise file was no longer available. We need a quick-and-dirty equalization tutorial, I think. I've not even really tried to equalize my HD518s for Winamp, but I have a feeling I could get a bit more bass out of these as well as lowering the treble a bit so crash cymbals don't give me splitting headaches.
55 ohms or 600? If the former, I have no idea why you have trouble driving them from an onboard. If the latter, the DG is a bit under what it requires really.
55 ohms. Somehow everything sounds so quiet at full volume with these headphones. With my old headphones, volume even at 1% was still a little loud and bass was nonexistent.
Because your guide is confusing and didnt have anything in my price range I got these. And they're amazing. Bad idea?

Not only because of the HORRID color scheme (opinion), but also because you've chosen an inferior brand. I'd return those/cancel your order and use the form to tell us your budget, usage etc.
The FiiO E9 would suit your needs. http://www.head-fi.org/t/521680/fiio-e9-review If you stretch your budget a bit then you may consider getting it from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-FiiO-E9-Desktop-Headphone-Amplifier-and-Dock-E7-USB-DAC-/260901702547?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbef40b93
Thanks man!
Just to be clear: Amps gives extra power to headphones. They're essential for headphones with high impedance (Ohms) as the higher it is, the harder it becomes to move the driver. DACs convert sound from a digital signal to an analogue one (Digital to Analogue Converter). To have sound coming through your speakers you'll always need a DAC, but having a dedicated one generally results in better sound, put simply. The M50 is one of the few headphones that won't benefit a lot from an amp, but having a DAC always helps. I'm considering getting the FiiO E10 as well, as the bang for buck cannot be beaten if you can find it for less than 100 dollars.
I know all of this, I was just wondering if it's worth the money over a different DAC like the uDAC2 or the E7+E9, etc. The main problem I see is it's really small for use as a desk DAC/amp, which means it's probably gonna slide off under the weight of the cable.

Don't really want to post a thread and it's sort of related - what is the cheapest way I can get toslink/spdif/optical/whatever input on my PC? (Want to feed halfway decent audio into my AD700s from PS3) I have a Xonar DX and onboard Realtek on my 890GPA-UD3H - neither has a dedicated input but there is some kind of header on the board and a spdif input in recording devices. Edit: Appears I can buy/make some sort of expansion slot bracket for the header...
Is there a difference in quality between winamp and foobar2000? I don't like how foobar won't follow the currently playing song on the playlist thing :/
It's not the look of them that bothers me, I don't care about aesthetics compared to durability. I've seen them in use on youtube and the reviewer demonstrated how easily it is for them to fly off your head. I'm sure they're prolly the most comfy since they don't sit so snug on your head but I've got a gal living with me that's always gonna be getting my attention and I have a tendency to swing my head around real fast or pull a phone off one ear to hear what she's saying. Knowing this, I may end up breaking these and never forgive myself. Plus, I've heard it has almost no bass from every reviewer. I don't really care about having powerful bass response, I mostly play games and watch movies, but when people specifically emphasize that this pair almost literally has no bass that's a deal-sinker. Thanks for the advise, man! Unfortunately the HD555s are out of my price range as they are around $170. They look absolutely fantastic though. Maybe I should go for the 518s?
what video are you referring to, I've had my A700s for almost three years now and have never had a problem with them magically sliding off of my head, and I never mentioned anything about aesthetics the people who are saying they have no bass at all are likely idiotic bassheads who wouldn't know the difference between Beats and the former; if you're buying headphones like that you should at the very least own a soundcard which will come with an equalizer, you can use that to amplify the bass to whatever you desire lol @ your girl
Sup guys, so I finally got myself some niceish headphones - got a Sennheiser HD518. Anything I can do for free to increase the amount of bass it's throwing out? I have my headphones running into my TAPCO LINK.firewire audio interface, then into my computer.
software equalizer with your soundcard's software
Are you saying it'd be better to run straight into my onboard soundcard than the audio interface?
What are the best good CHEAP clip-on mics for ATH-M50's?
Are you saying it'd be better to run straight into my onboard soundcard than the audio interface?
yes why would you not do that and what the fuck is tapco link [editline]28th December 2011[/editline]
What are the best good CHEAP clip-on mics for ATH-M50's?
we talk about this literally every single fucking page http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325058042&sr=8-1
It's my audio interface, for recording music and shit. It has a 1/4 headphone port so I thought it would have higher sound quality.

Easily overlooked. Still, minus the bass issue, my point on the previous page still stands.
My bad bro I'm not ever in this thread.
Don't feel bad. Odellus gets a bit muffed when he has to type everything twice. [editline]28th December 2011[/editline]
software equalizer with your soundcard's software
Be careful not to overdo it. Some scale nicely while equalizing, whilst others may reduce the quality of the mids, highs, clairty, bass quality etc. to improve the bass quantity.

Was given the sony official wireless PS3 headset for xmas. Works well on the PS3. and it also does music decently. And the wireless works anywhere in the house from my laptop, So I could just load up my music library on my computer and go out to the family room and read if I wish. Microphone works really well on PS3 and PC with no background noise or static.
Ive seen that headset before, it has the wonderful quality of being metal instead of cheapo plastic. Great build quality. Though I cant say anything about the sound since I never tried them.
AD700 doesn't even have poor bass - it takes equaliser to get it noticeable but it can be made to sound as strong as the HTF600 easily (minus that reverb sort of effect you get on closed headphones)
After reading through the OP, I decided to order these. Did I pay a good price?
I know the OP says don't buy headsets - but I don't want a desktop mic - I walk around a lot and still want to talk over Skype. I've gone through six sets of headsets - three logitech, two HP, and now a generic RadioShack USB headset. I'm sick of buying cheap ones, so I looked on Newegg to see what the best wireless headset was. It came up with this: http://en.store.creative.com/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-tactic3d-wrath-wireless/1-20881.aspx Granted it had only one review, it looks pretty decent. Does anybody know if this is good and/or which ones are good?

A nice finish and some marketing blurbs does not make it worth 50 dollars more all of a sudden. Gaming headsets are usually of mediocre build quality, and won't last long after the warranty expires. Plus, you'll have to charge the headset through a mini usb that's only a foot long, so good luck if the cable gets lost or the battery goes wonky. Barely got any replies so imma repost: Budget: £30. Might be able to go a bit higher eBay: Yeah. Country: United Kingdom Isolation: Yes, preferably as much as possible. Purpose: Listening to my Ipod Music Tastes: Metal and Rock. That kind of stuff. I'm basically after something nice and clear sounding with a bit (but not too much) of bass. Clarity is the main thing I'm after as my headphones that just died didn't have much of it. In ear is a definite.
