One thing I find interesting about these IEMs is how much difference there is if you insert them right. The smallest leak in the seal and you lose all the bass. That's one big advantage regular headphones have, once you put them on you don't need to fiddle with them.

What would you guys recommend for in-ear headphones ~@£50. Looking also at the HTF600s, but I'm after in-ears primarily. Typical music includes rock and electro/house.

Personally I'd go for

IEMs look really odd to me.

Isolation is near perfect with a proper seal in case of IEMs. You don't have to crank up the volume then.
Meelectronics did a promo a while ago where you pay $25 and they'd send you a random pair of headphones with a mic+button that cost between $40 and $90. I bought that, plus 3 pairs of their "Balanced" tips (~$5). It finally arrived (Fuck customs) and discovered they sent me the SP51P. $69, not bad.
They have 3 different pairs of "Tuning" ports, which give you Extra bass, enhanced bass and neutral bass, which is interesting. The fit with the balanced tips is great, the sound (Right now, I'm using the "Enhanced bass" ports) is great. The cable is pretty similar to my M9Ps, though there's a different Mic/button housing which is made of metal rather than the plastic one my M9P has.
Well, I got these headphones

They're pioneer, they only cost me 40$ and they sound pretty good. It's not AMAZING quality, but they're fine for what I use them. The bass is strong yet not obliterating or loud to the point they distort the sound, and the audio is crisp and can get really loud.
they look pretty cool as well, and yes, I was kinda driven by the brand to pick these ones, seeing as Pioneer has a good reputation in car audio sets and other stuff.

Too mainstream, would not buy.
There are people who buy things because they work better, or because they offer better value. But there are also people who buy things for the status it offers. I think Beats falls into that category, it's the one kind of headphone you can buy now where even random people know what they are. Even most high end headphones don't have that kind of recognition from the public.

But people buy them for the "quality sound". (someone I know actually said that).
Why do you guys get so flustered over other people buying headphones?
Yeah, they're shit, whatever, who cares?
Just buy your own and move on with your life. It's not worth it to be pissed off all the time.

For some of us, audio quality and knowledge is a hobby of sorts
It's annoying to see morons defame our hobby for something as stupid as a brand name
Because Facepunch.
The point is that it's counterproductive to any semblance of a forum.

This isn't even venting, it's just getting frustrated and angry over nothing. I mean, yes, I realize it's facepunch, but do you have to play into the stereotype every time?
All of this "hurr butthurt because he bought headphones I don't like" stuff isn't even bringing any gravitas to the discussion of audio quality and high end headphones.

No, but do you expect me to find the guy on Facebook and bitch him out for buying a shit pair of headphones? And it's not like I'm foaming at the mouth in rage that some idiot bought shitty headphones. It's more like "get a load of this dumbass." And it's not like I'm going to reiterate any headphones at the same price point that are better because we should all know by now what $300+ headphones are good.

I don't think anyone is actually mad, just making fun of people who don't know any better
I have the fatal1ty and it works great. Pretty deep bass, great surround sound and it's relatively comfortable.
I have the fatal1ty and it works great. Pretty deep bass, great surround sound and it's relatively comfortable.
That was what I said before I bought the ATH-M50s. Then I said "Why the fuck was I ever using these?"
I had a pair of fatalitys... I still do infact.
But they are so cheaply made that after a month of reg. usage they fucking snapped in two. Yeah, snapped in two. Not to mention how much they hurt my ears, and the microphone was allwaayyysss giving me problems, I ended up just using a rockband microphone instead.. Next time I find them in the bins of electronics somewhere in my house I will show you all what's left of them..
I've had no success with shitty brand headphones
Bought some Skullcandy TIs once, aside from being fucking uncomfortable they broke within a week
