yo if i got a Sennheiser HD 598s to use for my computer i'm sure i'd need an amp or something what would be a good one etc
[editline]11th January 2012[/editline]
or would my 75 watt bass amp work? heh..
So, I'm looking for a new pair of headphones since my last ones decided to stop working, and I've got a birthday coming up, so I've got some leeway in what I can buy.
Budget: No more than $150, preferably less.
eBay: Not unless it's a deal that can't be passed up.
Country: USA
Isolation: Open work fine enough, though closed is acceptable if it's in the price range.
Purpose: Mostly games, some music and some videos, like YouTube. I'd place a percentage breakdown something like 70% Games, 15% music, 15% YouTube.
Music Tastes: Varied. I'll listen to anything that sounds good, but I do consider John Lennon and Paul McCartney to be Saints.
Previous Experiences: Two Logitech headsets and an iHome headset. Logitech always worked alright until they began falling apart, iHome was ok but rather uncomfortable.
Comments: I'm also in the market for a microphone, and the OP states explicitly not to get one attached to the headphones. That's fine, but if anyone has any tips for microphone shopping, it would be appreciated. It would be used for casual voice recording and occasional recording of trumpet playing.

They are at the top of your budget, but they are so worth it

Uhm, no you don't.
Budget: €90
eBay:
Country: Belgium
Isolation: closed
Purpose: music on the go (ipod)
Music Tastes: Post Rock, electronic (Kraftwerk, chemical brothers and the likes), Soundtracks of any sort (games, movies) Ambient shit (C418, etc) Alternative Rock (pixies, Klaxons, random belgian bands), PODCASTS (VERY IMPORTANT)
Previous Experiences: Beats by Dr Dre Solo HD (Product Red) Miserable headphones, failed me after 8 months of use. Crackling and loss of volume/sound on left earpiece. Also, Monster Cable has the worst customer support in the world, by never replying to me.
Comments: Decent headphones or headsets needed, noise cancellation isn't a must but would be nice. I also don't approve of massive soundleaking. People shouldn't be able to hear (loudly) my podcasts.
Also, I was stupid for buying beats, but hate on it as much as you like.
the other guy asks what made him pick it over wikins and bose
all my rage
Still better than Beats, to be fair. Some of Bose's stuff isn't bad.

After reading that article about their cube speakers I will never respect their company or anything they make.
Never mind, they've raised their prices since i bought mine

$119
If you haven't already ordered them, you can get $40 off ATH-M50s from soundprofessionals, making them $55 plus shipping

Is this a good deal? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106297
looking for something that's closed, with heavy bass.
Sennheisers aren't the bassy kind of headphones as I've experienced
Try maybe the Sony MDR-X300 or whatever it is

It's a good deal but not for bass. That particular model is not considered a bass oriented headphone. SONY MDR-XB500 in that price range would probably make you happy but Newegg is currently out.
edit: Newegg doesn't have the htf600, but Amazon has both last I saw.
Budget: $150
eBay: Unless there isn't any other options then no
Country: Canada
Isolation: Preferably closed, but isn't that big of a deal
Purpose: Home use for mainly music, some gaming but doesn't really matter.
Music Tastes: Black metal, Most genres of metal, blues, indie, folk, post-rock, shoegaze, etc
Previous Experiences: Lots of shitty "gaming" headsets that always break after the first few months. Recently my Razer Carcharias right headphone just stopped working due to a loose connection which is really annoying.
Comments: Need help on a good mic as well as I use Skype a lot and every headset mic I've had sucked. No more than $25. I also live in a really rural part of Canada and shipping usually costs a lot so the amount of sites I can use is limited.
I think my head might be sort of small, my Razer headset is a little too big but maybe that's just the headset. Comfort is a big issue as I pretty much wear them all day every day
Good reviews on these at Head-Fi:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10823&cs_id=1082302&p_id=8323&seq=1&format=2
Though I'm still thinking about the HTF600s and they're only $25 on Amazon right now.
Does anyone have any experience with Philips O'Neill SHO9561?
A quick gander over at head-fi shows mixed user reviews, so... yeah. Unless you guys can suggest something else less than $40 that look relatively decent, is durable, has decent isolation, and closed then that'd be great.

Oops, forgot to add something. I need some isolation. Sorry.
Budget:Under $100
eBay: If it's a good deal, returnable and has a warranty
Country: USA
Isolation: Closed
Purpose: Mostly Gaming 60%, music 20%, videos/movies 20%
Music Tastes: Anything Bassy and not country. Like techno or drum and bass.
Previous Experiences: Creative Tactic3D Alpha, these have been the best headphones I've had so far, compared to others, but I made a mistake by getting 'gaming' headphones and regret it. The left earcup snapped off... Okay, gorilla glued that, lasted me another month until a cat chewed the wire recently.
Comments: Preferably a headset, fine if it isn't.
I'm considering these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MMEI8W
They look good and are only $30. Is there anything better to get with my budget other than these?
