Do share, I'll think about it.
ATH-M50(s)
They are normally around $150-160 on Amazon but you can get them through an authorized retailer for $119, I have them. They are amazing.

How do they compare to the HTF600's?
A lot better obviously..
I'm curious what I would miss out if I where to buy the 600's though. It is a $100 difference afterall.
Better build quality, better comfort, better soundstage (e.g. natural sound location reproduction), better overall quality.
The HTF600s are well-known for their characteristic sound, the quality isn't terrible but the M50s are better. I believe the M50s are analytic so they don't really have extreme bass or anything, but rather natural, clear sound reproduction.

the M50s are better than HTF600s in every aspect
they're much more detailed, they're much clearer, they aren't too "analytic" to the point where you notice big issues with file compression, they have more controlled, tighter, and punchier bass as well as a larger soundstage and are much more comfortable and have better build quality
you get what you pay for, though the HTF600s are really, really fun phones
[editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
that's absolutely not necessary
very necessary actually, I keep seeing every single page "$60 budget, I like techno" "$80 budget"
tired of responding "HTF600" 12 times a day

Does that site ship to canada? Are they reliable? ATH-M50 for $150 looks good..
How heavier is the bass on the 202 compared to the 201? I like my current 201's, just wish they were a bit bassier.

Eh, if you want bass, pay $10 more and get the HTF600
The OP needs to have "<$80? BUY HTF600" in huge red letters at the top.

Type ATH-M50 into shopbot.ca and sort by price.
the other guy asks what made him pick it over wikins and bose
all my rage
From what I've read the wilkins headphones aren't that bad, certainly better than bose or beats but still overpriced and lacking in audio quality

I'd go right out and say go ahead and buy them if your budget were to be in that range if it weren't for the fact that different people need different styles of headphones. Quality in audio is often (to a degree) subjective in nature.
So does anyone have the htf600's and a pair of substantially more expensive headphones to compare to?
Interested in how they compare to my HD558's.

Fair bit worse on all fronts than the AD700
Got my HD201's today. They're kinda uncomfortable and the sound quality really isn't much better than my $10 earbuds. Also, the sound is crackly as fuck. The hell is with that?

I love my hd201's but like I said in a previous post the only problem I had was with the bassiness.
Other than that they are extremley comfortable and amazingly clear for the price.
Also, how does that zalman clip mic sound in vent/skype? That is my main concern really. I was about to get this: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Desktop-Microphone-Black-Silver/dp/B00009EHJV/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326518135&sr=8-3
just cause my friend has one and I can confirm that the sound and his voice are projected clearly.

sounds like something's wrong with them

so
because it's my birthday
fuck the police I am buying HTF600s
I liked my HD201s but they went' comfortable and SERIOUSLY lacked bass
Budget: No more than 100
eBay: No, Newegg or Amazon preferably
Country: U.S.
Isolation: Preferably closed, but open works too.
Purpose: Even split between gaming, movies/TV, and music
Music Tastes: Electric Blues, Jazz Fusion, Rock(Stoner, Psychedelic, Post, Progressive), Metal(Heavy, Sludge, Doom, Post, Progressive), Electronic music(Downtempo, Breakbeat, Trip-hop, IDM), Various movie and VG soundtracks.
Currently leaning toward a pair of lightly used ATH-A700s for 90 bucks.
I gotta say, after using HD558's for a whole month, they're really great, but I think headphones just can't beat plugging your stereo into the computer, unless it's a space issue.

I much prefer the sound system in my truck or my home theatre to my headphones.
I realize that they both cost a lot more than the headphones, but so many people in the 'audiophile community' will tell you that certain headphones are equivalent to a $10,000 home theatre system.
It's just not true.

It is true in terms of audio quality, but you obviously can't entertain a room full of people with headphones, and you don't have quite the same unrestricted freedom.

A700s would be fine for your situation
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102006
That any good for us Canadians? Half price + free shipping on a soundcard, no use to me but I figured I would let you all know :)
yes that's the lowest possible tier X-Fi card you can get that supports everything all the other high end cards support
good deal imo

newegg finally coming out with some good shell shockers, maybe I'll actually start reading the 30 emails they send me every day

What are you playing on them? You need to try some FLAC or other lossless music to start with.
edit: Those 201s are on sale again at Newegg, $15, so I hope you got a good price.
320kbps mp3 is fine for me. FLAC is overkill
lol flac isn't necessary until you start pushing $200 individual pieces of equipment or more, otherwise you're just wasting hard drive space
[editline]14th January 2012[/editline]
and it sounds like his headphones are broken or fakes
I recommend a FLAC file for TESTING, only because you know it will sound as good as possible.
MP3 at high bitrate are fine, but if they've been ripped by someone who doesn't know what they're doing there could be sound issues.
I'm not saying he should only listen to FLAC files.
