so, how do the Sennheiser Hd 203 stand against Panasonic RP-HTF600-S ?
The pannies are known for their warm sound signature and not their quality.
Speaking of, mine are coming on saturday :v:
damn.. just got my eyes on the slightly more expensive Sennheiser Hd 215 at £59.99

At that pricerange? Don't get the HD 215s
perhaps you're right.. Gonna try HTF600, see if they suit me..
Going to get the Sony MDR-V6 or V600 for the good sound with very little leakage.
On my laptop or pc, it'll be using a dac and headphone amp, but will an iPhone 4 be enough to drive them?
45 ohm impedance? You'll be fine
Maybe for the v6 but not the v600
I rarely use headphones (I'm a speaker guy) so I was using HD201s with about $500 worth of dac and amp, haha.
Even they needed amplification to get to a good sound level.
Budget: £70
Only amazon
Country: UK
Isolation: Preferably closed
Purpose: Mostly music and movies, but some games
Music Tastes: Movie soundtracks(Lord of the rings, tron legacy), Epic/classical music(immediate music, two steps from hell), some electronic( daft punk )
These headphones would only be used for my computer
I currently have a xonar DG, so i'm not sure if I need a amp(if so, it would have to be included in the budget)
They must be very comfortable

Solely because they are quiet headphones. Impedance has nothing to do with volume, it's how hard it is to move the driver.
looking for new closed back headphones, current ones are sennheiser hd280
want good bass, but still detailed highs and mids, good vocals are important. my current sennheisers feel a bit flat and definitely lack bass
i listen to mostly rock/grunge. will be used a lot with my ipod so i dont want anything too analytic, dont have to be overly neutral either. preferably not needing amplification but ive got a fiio e6 so it doesnt matter too much. comfort very very important
prepared to spend up to £150. was looking at the ultrasone hfi-580 after seeing them in the OP, but the comment about recessed mids makes me wary

ATH M50's.
Budget: €50 / $64
Country:Estonia
Isolation: Preferably closed
Purpose:Listening to music on the go and at home.
Music Tastes: Electronic, DnB, dubstep, speedcore.
Previous Experiences: I have never had any proper earphones nor earpods. At home I use self-made earphones from noise cancelling headphones, mainly for gaming, because of the lack of bass, they aren't really any good for music.
Comments:I was thinking of getting AKG K518LE, but since it would be my first major buy in sound tech, I wouldn't want to make a crappy choice.

HTF600 are good $30 basshead cans, but they aren't really closed. People will hear what you are listening to a bit, and if you aren't listening to anything, vice versa.
Xb500s are great bass cans for the price, 700s have less bass with the same muddied mids as with a little EQ the 500s shine.
They're also not extremely large, have a perfect cable length for portability and isolate well.
So I'm selling an iPod nano tomorrow.

or

personally I'd go with the HTF 600s just because I know a ton of people have tried them and loved them, while I really haven't heard all that much about the 681s
you can't really go wrong
There's also the option of the http://www.amazon.com/Superlux-HD668B-Dynamic-Semi-Open-Headphones/dp/B003JOETX8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326849222&sr=1-1 with no mic, which isn't an issue.
Aparently, my really old Panasonic headphones that came with an old WalkMan tape player back in something called the 1990's where tapes were the most commonly used music storage medium, has insane bass. Better than my Monster Jamz In-Ear. But that's kinda an unfair comparision.
I think it's 15 years old...
I've read on Head fi that the ATH M50s are a different type now(white box vs old blue box). Has anyone here compared them? I ask because my birthday is coming up and I might be up for a good headphone upgrade. I'd hate to buy them now if the 'good' ones are no longer on sale new.
Okay. So I was recommended the htf's but im worried about comfort. Will the pads go around my ear or rest on top/squish them?
Also, what is the quality of the zalman clip mic?

How heavy is it? And what's the material like?
Basically if it's possible compare to the hd 201's cause I liked those alot--however they needed better base.
So what's a good $100 or less headphone that's over or on ears, that leaks very little so is good for libraries?
Still really haven't had any answers.
HTF600's came today, completely impressed the first time I plugged them in, the quality is much better than the last pair I had, my Creative alpha 3D "quote" "gaming" headphones. Bass is amazing on this pair. Dunno how they sound burned in, I never knew about burning in before this thread so I guess I'll find out.
Also they do leak sound, but I experimented by plugging the cups with my hands, not too much sound leaking even for max volume, I kind of like having sound leak in, so I am aware of my surroundings, but they quickly fade out when I play something. Also really long cable. Definitely recommend these so far.

They'll go around your ears.
Zalman quality:

I'd get a ModMic.

So I'm just gonna nab a logitech usb stand mic over the zalman clip then.
The only thing that I am worried about is the leak on htf's
Is there any alternative to them for under 50?
Mind you it is for bass heavy music and gaming so I would also like it to be very crisp. If there isn't any for that price how much would I have to spend?
Well, I'm pretty sure that short of recabling my HD428s are broken. What's a good pair for <$70?
[editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
Well just bought Amazon's last pair of HTF-600s.
Hm, it seems my HTF600's crackle a little bit on the high's when the volume is even at medium... Anyone else getting this? I bought these on ebay, dunno if the seller will accept a replacement if these are defective. Brand new in original packing and everything.

More likely your audio source is causing the distortion than the headphones.
Try different sources.

if you press the headphone in while you're wearing them sometimes the driver will pop out.
I have finally got round to buying some Audio Technica M50's, I have wanted them for so long, And the only thing that Put me off was the price even know its worth it. Its just alot of money to spend on headphones. Im so happy right now, Cant wait for them to arrive.
I got the Limited edition ones for the sake of it too.
