HD201s.
I've been listening to dubstep and DnB for about an hour and I'm not getting the whole "fun to listen to" vibe.

i didnt like them at first either, but they're my favorite headphones now, you might just be used to your HD201's sound
I should mention I never actually listened to my 201s because they were fucking uncomfortable.
I listened from Logitech X530 speakers.

The HTF600s do respond to EQing very well and are very comfortable though.
[editline]20th January 2012[/editline]
Loaded up some Brown and Gammon. Full volume.
Fucking fantastic. Bass was so well controlled and full, I got goosebumps.
I take back any doubts I ever had.
[editline]20th January 2012[/editline]
even steel panther sounds fantastic. god. :v:

what are these adjectives doing in this sentence
I'm looking for two pairs of headphones ATM:
Country: United States
eBay: Preferably no
Music Tastes: Rock, Metal, Classical, some Electronic, Pretty much everything except for pop
In-Ear Monitors
Budget: $40-$80
Isolation: IEM
Purpose: Casual music listening, something that I can carry around in my pocket
Studio Headphones
Budget: $100-$150
Isolation: Closed, preferrably, not sure how much of a difference it makes in sound quality with this budget
Purpose: Mixing/Mastering Music
Comments: I took a look at the RP-HTF600-S headphones recommended in the OP (because spending that little money on quality cans would be great), but given my limited experience I have no idea how well they'd serve my purpose. I've strongly considered the AHT-M50s based on what I've heard.
I prefer CC51 for the clarity and good bass punch. Though the seal does decide between a boomy bass and a better laid back one.
Except for recessed mids CC51 is an excellent choice. And the customer service is just so good.
Waiting for weekend deals or holiday offers would be worth as you can get them for nearly $40.
There is a deal running on Amazon US for Brainwavz earphones, get the M2 if you like bass quantity with decent midrange.

Brainwavz M4 deal (M4 is not a upgrade, it's just a diversion from the sound signature):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0068Z9YUS/ref=sc_pgp__m_A2XYIDHW2C10EQ_8?ie=UTF8&m=A2XYIDHW2C10EQ&n=&s=&v=glance
Getting a Soundmagic E30, supposed to have bigger soundstage compared to the others in it's range. Can't say anything until I get my hands on it.
For rough use it's better to invest less money unless you baby them. Another cheaper option will be XePort 5010-8
http://xeport.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=6&zenid=b7eea0ec467854f67cef9bb2d64320fe
Personally I'd go for HiFiMan RE-0 (already own) or better a RE-ZERO (more bass quantity compared to RE-0 but both are not for bassheads but neutral listeners) for clarity.
Vsonic GR 07 (Not the best dynamic range but an allrounder for the money you are putting in) or JVC FTX 90 (forward mids with good bass and treble extension, almost as good as JVC Victor FX700 but nearly half the price) is another good option but way over the budget.
Otherwise if you crave for clarity then Etymotic or RE272 (which I already own) is the better choice but again offshoots the budget.
For Trebleheads HiSound Golden Crystal (already own) or Brainwavz B2 would be better. Be ready to embrace the finer details with piercingly awesome treble.
What is a good $150 pair of headphones for Metal?
What is a good $150 pair of headphones for Metal?
ATH-M50s
A while ago I bought a MDR V6 however after about a year of usage it has lost sound on the right side.
After some investigation as to the cause i found out that it is a fake.
So I need to find a reliable place to buy a new MDR V6 that ships to Holland.
So my HTF600s arrived today.
I now ask myself why I didn't do this before.
How's a HD 555 for dedicated PC gaming?
How's a HD 555 for dedicated PC gaming?
they're awesome
I ordered those CX475s, should be here on tuesday or wednesday

It's apparently replaced by the HD 558, is it better?
It's apparently replaced by the HD 558, is it better?
Apparently the 558's are a bit better but considering the 555's are discontinued you should be able to find the 555's for really cheap making them much greater value for money than the 558's.
Does anyone own or has heard Hifiman HE-300s?
My friend has, and he hates them. Apparently they sound exactly like this graph looks:

They have really mixed reviews, confusing, some are saying they're the best sub $300 headphones, others are saying they're horrible.
Just looking for a second pair of headphones.
Budget : 150 Euro max. Could be a little above it if it really makes a difference.
eBay : No
Country : The Netherlands
Isolation : The more the better.
Purpose : For on the go use and in school. It doesn't matter if their leaking sound since my school is always a noisy place.
Music Tastes : Mostly House or Hardstyle. So I'm really digging it on the bass side of things. (No I'm not looking for no Beats shit.)
Previous Experiences : Currently owning the Sony MDR-XB700 and I love them.
Comments : I'd like them not to be too big or look weird like my current ones.
I'm thinking of getting the Creative Aurvana Live headphones, apparently they are the best for that price range, anyone heard of them?

Everything I have tried from Creative has been uncomfortable as fuck. I don't know about these though.

Friend needs headphones, $30 budget.
His motherboard is an Asrock p55m pro, so I doubt his onboard audio is that great, but he has no headphones, I know it's a low budget but I'd figure asking for advice here would beat him just buying some random pair off of internet for $30 that's as good as $5 headphones.
Again I realize $30 ain't much, but it beats no headphones or some Fatal1ty crap :downs:
HTF-600s
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RP-HTF600-S-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B004MMEI8W
$31 :v:
Price changes constantly though. Might go back to <$30.

Or HD201's
HD201s are uncomfortable and shitty, the pad that they have on the headband rubs against my skull and makes it feel all shitty
HTF600s are the best bet if $20, otherwise, the Monoprice headphones Shadaez posted. Keep in mind if you get the Monoprices you'll need to get a male to male headphone cable
I don't think HD201 are bad, but now there's just much better options. I still would pick them up for $15 when they're on sale on newegg occasionally.
Ok thanks, btw should he also get a $30 Xonar DG with it or no?
