I'm going to have a few computers to repair this week and my birthday is in March, so I'm thinking of buying a nice pair of headphones at some point. I'm leaning toward the ATH-M50, though I was wondering if there's a similarly priced headphone with a replaceable cord. It's not a dealbreaker, though if I'm spending $160 on headphones it would be nice to have that feature.
What do you listen to?
What do you listen to?
It varies, though right now I'm listening to Gnarls Barkley, DatA, Queen, Explosions in the Sky and some Supertramp. Being a bit bass-heavy isn't a problem.

Those M Audio Q40s look real nice as far as specs and design go. The Ultrasones seem a bit gimmicky, with that S logic surround thing. That's definitely something I'd want to experiment with at a store before I bought them.
uh, you're dumb
Aggressive much?
What Peterson said is perfectly sound(lol). I have permanent tinnitus in my right ear due to loud school discos. I now (Have done for the past 4 years) wear linear attenuation ear plugs to every gig I play and wear them when I go to see others play. The volume some bands play is just ridiculous, it would be considered illegal working conditions. If your ears ring, you've done damage. (I fully back any scheme, charity or otherwise, that raises the awareness of hearing loss due to loud music)

And from what I've read in this thread, people listen far too loudly.
Don't get me started on those who listen to music via their mobile phones on public transport, what a pointless activity for everyone involved.
I thought it was an endemic confined to my country.

I'll keep an eye on them.
Well I think the idea is that they are all on the same level, in different ways. So it's not really a question of the M50 being the best and the other two are for people who can't spend that much, it's more like out of the three equals which one has the sound and/or features you prefer?
