Hello.
I am currently trying to find parts for the pc I am trying to build. I am a total noob when it comes to computer hardware so please help me out. I can spend up to 650$ and I already have a mouse, monitor (1280x1024), speakers, operating system (win7), and a keyboard. I'm looking for a 500gb HDD, and about 4gb's of RAM. I'm not sure what kind of video card (nvidia preferred), processor and mother board should I get. I will have all the parts delivered to UK and later to Lithuania.
I'm currently interested in this, thanks to tanktan38 for the suggestion:
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
CPU: Intel 2500k
PSU: Cooler Master GX Series 650w
RAM: PNY XLR8 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
GPU: XFX Dual-Fan 6870
CD/DVD: ASUS 24x Burner
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3
Here's my build I ordered a few days ago:
From Micro Center:
CPU: Intel 2500k $179.99
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 $74.99 - $15 Mail-In Rebate = $59.99!!!
Tax: ~$25
From Newegg:
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 $54.99
PSU: Cooler Master GX Series 650w $74.99 - $25 Mail-In Rebate - $30 Combo Deal w/HAF 912 = $19.99!!!
RAM: PNY XLR8 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 $41.99 - $20 Mail-In Rebate = $21.99
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB $59.99
GPU: XFX Dual-Fan 6870 $196.99 - $30 Mail-In Rebate - $10 Promo Code = $156.99
CD/DVD: ASUS 24x Burner $19.99
Total: $599 (on the dot.)
If you can, try to get something like that. However, I don't think you have a local Micro Center though. Here's a build I put together real quick on Newegg:
Big Combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.644166 $494.50
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500202 $159.99 - $40 Mail-In Rebate = $119.99
CD/DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289 $19.99
$634.48 + $9.02 Shipping = $643.50

What kind of applications/games are you going to frequent?
Thanks for the reply. I'll look up to that stuff you posted after I get some sleep.

I usually play team fortress 2 and battlefield: bad company 2, programs I use the most are: photoshop and source SDK.
Looks like a great budget build.
The only problem is that Newegg.com only delivers to US and I will have all my parts delivered to UK. Anyway, I need opinions on the op.
So you need a site that delivers to UK? I've seen a few people use scan.co.uk; is that okay?
On 6870 vs GTX 460 1gb non-SE: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/290?vs=313

Alright then, I'm getting 6870 instead of GTX 460. Also, I'm going to need a DVI to VGA adapter, since the screen I'm going to use is pretty old and it only has a VGA socket.

Where will you be buying the parts from?

I'm not going to, I'll send a list of part's to my friend and he'll buy them for me. I'm not sure where is he going to buy them from, but he has been building pc's for quite a while so I trust him in this.

Oh, okay that's cool.
Oh, and on the motherboard I got, Unless you friend can get it for a good price like I did, it probably won't be worth it. There's nothing wrong with it, however if your friend can get an MSI P67 G43 or G45 cheaper (or close to the same price) you should tell him to pick one up. They have more favorable layouts, and probably better BIOS/UEFI.

Alright, thanks. I'll send him an e-mail and see what he thinks.

Cool.
Just mounted my motherboard in my case. You really cannot SLI/Crossfire with this motherboard without covering up all of the SATA ports, front panel USB headers, etc. But it works and it's nice little board.

Why would you get that motherboard? You cannot SLI/Crossfire in it at all, it only has one PCI-E 2.0 slot.

It actually has 3 PCIE slots. I haven't tried to fit my video card in that slot, but take a look:
