g500
Its quiet comfortable in your hands, You also got those handy site buttons called mouse 4 and mouse 5. Its also very precise it also give you the ability to turn the dpi down to some levels when the logitech driver is installed you get an option where you have 3 or 4 levels i myself putted it to level 1 800 and level 4 to 1200. And after its done you can just press while ingame or on desktop the + and - button to get higher dpi or lower. Logitech is a pretty good Company in my opinion.
I use a G9, so worth it. Awesome mouse.
The difference in responsiveness in a 'gaming' mouse and any other mouse will only be different in an order of magnitude so small it would be impossible to detect. Honestly, you're better off with a cheap, reliable mouse. I have an $8 shitty mouse at home, and honestly it's fine except it's not overly comfortable for my hand. And its 800 dpi, which is twice that of my MX518 which I prefer. You've been sucked in by gaming companies my friend :v:. Gaming mice are expensive gimmicks, the only reason you should ever buy one is if it's legitimately better built than other mice or more comfortable for your hand than other mice.
I don't exactly agree. I've had my G5 for about two years and I can't live without it's high precision and adjustable speed on the fly. It's just... Better.
Logitech MX518, i find it amazingly comfy and precise. on the other hand, i tried the G9 and G9X before i bought this, but they were out of my price range, they are FANTASTIC mice though
I didn't know what gaming was until i got my Razer Diamondback. Sadly it broke 1 year ago and i had to buy a Diamondback 3G, its buttons fucks up and start making weird noises when i use them. I even got a new one from the store and it started making the same noises after 3 days. I had my fucking 1G for 5 years and it never had any problems. The 3G had 0 improvements except for the DPI.
I vouch for the g500. Best mouse I've used.
I don't understand WHY people need a 'gaming mouse'. Why can't you use a regular mouse like us?
I spend a ton of time at a computer, though not all of it gaming. My Deathadder is very comfortable to use for extended periods of time. My older wireless Microsoft mouse isn't the most comfortable thing in the world and was a little bit too hefty with 2 AA batteries in it. It's also useful when I do quick edits in Paint.Net, I can use the on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment to get really precise or crank it up to remove a lot of background / less precise stuff. Not really a "Hardcore" gamer, though having a comfortable mouse is really useful.
MX 518 is unbeatable for it's price
Roccat Kone's quite nice, but i'd say go with the g9
What do people generally prefer about the MX518 other than the price?
Optical Reliable (mines still going strong after 5 years) Comfortable (for righties anyway) Nice feet (I have the old model, and the newer one is even better in this regard) 5 buttons And I think it looks pretty cool, but I wouldn't worry about that, it's just a nice bonus.
My G7 just died, I'm going to send it in. To tie me over I bought a Logitech MX1100, not a half bad mouse, I chose not to get the I chose that over the more expensive performance MX because the MX1100 operates off two AA batteries that last about 260 days (and I am using rechargeable) while the Performance MX uses an internal non swappable battery that goes out after about 8 hours and then you have to plug in the USB cable cord so it defeats the purpose of being wireless. Also besides the "darkfield laser" the features of the mice are exactly the same. I want a G700 to be released
Well, I just ordered the G500, I'm sure that the MX518 is nice but the price difference isn't too big (got the G500 for $60), and I suppose that it will last me at least 2 years, so I guess it's worth it for the better sweat texture, laser, and other minor improvements.
I never had a gaming mouse, always used a 5$ optical mouse. Maybe it's time to get one for a change.. The MX1100 looks good
Deathadder is awesome. It feels incredibly sexy on your hand and the two thumb buttons are more than enough. I find that too many buttons get in the way of the practical shit.

What should I get? The MX518 or wait til the G9 comes back in stock for $35 or wait till the G700 comes out?
uh MX518 sensor > G9 sensor see if you can test them out and see what feels best for you
uh MX518 sensor > G9 sensor see if you can test them out and see what feels best for you
I don't know how I would get to test them out And what about everyday use?
seriously, why is there no G700? I would buy that shit in an instant
They are probably trying to develop a new technology that doesn't die after a year, every G7 I've ever had suffered from cutouts after 1-2 years. Sad because the mice otherwise are perfect.
Razer Diamondback is fast, cheap and has 7 buttons. Get one if you like to be efficient when playing fps
personally, i use a sidewinder X5. you can pick em up for quite cheap and there not half bad. mines lasted for about a year and it can take a beating
So I guess the only thing really useful of the gaming mice is sensitivity changing on the fly and almost impossible to detect change in response. I Wouldn't buy it just for sensitivity changes unless I did a lot of precise things.
G700 would be awesome
