So? Quads need more voltage than anything and I have to run my Q9400 at 1.3V to keep my system stable at 3.8GHz.
[editline]05:50PM[/editline]
what the hell is wrong with your temperatures
I was reading up on unlocking the 4th core and some people said it fucks up your core temps. So look at TEMPIN0 for the CPU temp.
My q9550 runs at stock volts, runs fine.

Indeed, if the motherboard has a good voltage regulator you'll find the CPU actually runs fine on lower volts, because it doesn't get hit by massive vDroop.
Of course, it's not going to run on 0.5v for example, but hey.
What quad? 1.45 is the max for my Q9400.
Q6600 G0. There is no way 1.45 is max for the Q9400, I've sent my Q6600 up to 1.63 without affecting stability too much. You must mean that's the maximum suggested voltage.
overclock!!
what the fuck @ zorlok's voltage
that's not that high, considering he is @ 3.8.. well, what is his VID?
E6550 @ 2GHz. -333 MHz.

Once you start going past 1.45 you start to exponentially reduce the life of your chip and run the risk of damaging it instantly.

your FSB can't have a negative signal
Don't get paranoid.
Well I don't want to fuck over my $200 CPU to get an extra 200 MHz out of it.
overclock!!

I can't even get 3.6GHz on my E8400. :( Though I'm using the stock cooler.

Fucking shitty chip, no matter the voltage doesn't go over 3.19Ghz :argh: it's water cooled too.
I might just buy a Q9400 or so.

not surprised
...
also, it took me 1.47 vcore to get to that clock you quoted. needed 1.1 for 3.6..

Yes, overclock like a man.

this guy just started using LN2 and he already got 8 GHz with a celleron.. very impressive.

I think I should wait for my i7 cooler to come before i start OC'ing.......
Actually my i7 920 is diling at 50°C.. a bit too high right?
260 GTX at 729/1458/1080(2160) hard work puts it at 78 celsius. idles at 45-50.
sorry for bumb but i decided that it was better than making a thread.

OC'd a bit more, and also OC'd my video card a bit.
Stock is 2.0ghz. :smug:

Also, anyone else realize that 64-bit processors are really 48-bit? The second to last line says so. I actually learned that from Slashdot the other day.
x64 is the architecture, not the address size. This is old information.
other one closed..

i already killed a motherboard to get this fucking Q6600 to 4 GHz, i succeeded for a week, then that stupid P35 northbridge died on me, now i'm just sticking to 3.2 with an undervolt until ambients drop, i figure THIS oughta cool it apropriatly... (Lapped, Pressure modded TRUE with 100 CFM 120x38 mm fans in P/P)

idles don't matter for shit, load temps do
If you want a beast of an overclocker, throw a Q6600 on a 780i SLI. I'm running 3.2 GHz on an undervolt with stock cooling, I still stay below 50C.
i have one word for you: ambients.
i could pull 4 GHz under 55 load... with a 7C ambient
