MPC-HC + CCCP > All
VLC is terrible besides being a backup for when nothing works.
MPC-HC + CCCP > All
Okay, I might be misinformed here. I use Media Player Classic (after installing the SmoothVideo project). I don't see what the big difference is between it an VLC except it can use external decoders. It seems just be another media player to me other than that.
It doesn't fucking distort every sound so it sounds like Justin Beiber before autotuning for a start.

In-player subtitle searching is one really handy feature in MPC, but that's not really a "big difference".

The new version SmoothVideo Project 3.0.5 is available now.
This is a bug fix release with some speed tuning.
If you've SVP 3.0 installed the "Lite" version is recommended for upgrade.
You can download it from http://www.svp-team.com/wiki/Download.
Changelog:
+ Speed improvements - up to 10% faster than 3.0.4;
+ SVP-manager stability imporved significantly;
+ Log file translated into english;
- Fixed small bugs (reported by Fenyx, Reflex, farookh1, Noweol, Rimsky);
= New versions of components: ffdShow rev.3996, madVR 0.77, MVTools 2.5.11.3 (modified).
It's been a long time since last post here so just say it's not interesting and I won't push the thread up again :)
So the completely new version 3.1 is out and it's all about quality.
The official change log is boring so just the main points:
- interpolation quality!
- much more English-friendly UI D)
- stable "Ambilight"
- simple helper for YouTube
As usual in major releases there're a few fat bugs right now but the fix will be available in the nearest future.
Wow, thanks! Last time I tried this it didn't work well but now it seems to be really smooth.
Cheers man.
It's totally awesome, don't stop the updates!

Only problem I'm getting is that SVPtube keeps crashing MPC when it loads videos :(
Works great, except I can't get this to work with DVD movies.
wow this works pretty damn well
Got it working with DVD, but now it buzzes whenever I change scenes or something and i get occasional hiccups.
Works great on Media Player Classic. For anyone having trouble getting it to work, just add everything ffdshow in options>external filters
MPC-HC is real buggy with YouTube, for me it works only with MP4 stream types.
Daum PotPlayer is much more stable.
Two main bugs right now are:
1. memory leak in svpmgr process - the hotfix is there
2. some video memory leak resulting in error "code 0x3FFFB" on NV cards
I hope 3.1.1 release will be available tomorrow.
SGTNAPALM
DVD? What's that? ;)
a question about DVDs
So does this only work with .mkv file types and such, or does it also work with .avi?
it works even with .flv and live streams
I guess this means no car shows with maximum smoothness.

Mmmmm... There's no secret that motion interpolation can't be done without artifacts, the challenge is always in arts / smoothness balance.
So if one want to watch high frame rate video completely without arts he should wait for Hobbit ;)
Obviously a rotating wheel on horizontally moving car isn't the best scene for interploation.
I switch between VLC and UMPlayer. I have a Fermi 450GTs, and a 1920x1080 LCD... Will this work for me before I spend time installing this?
450GT is great
Ver. 3.1.1 is out.
- added new option for rendering quality on GPU (bicubic interpolation)
- fixed memory leak in SVP Manager
- fixed video memory leak
I don't really like it.
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I keep getting this issue where I can't switch how advanced the SVP setting menu is, it's not greyed out or anything but it just refuses to show at all.
This has been happening in any install of SVP I have used. Also, just to avoid this unnecessary bumping, where can I contact the SVP developers with issues?
Also, SVP is running really well with my 570, it just refused to run on my 9800GT :v:

I can't switch how advanced the SVP setting menu
It's a known bug and it'll be fixed in 3.1.2. Right now you can reinstall SVP with "expert mode" option selected.

Late reply, but using CCleaner reset it for me :)
BTW, 3.1.2 is out...
Just tried this for the first time and holy crap it's amazing. At first I didn't really like it cause it was so noticeable and felt weird looking at. I re-watched Drive using this and then synched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ_fkw5j-t0 on both monitors, right one using SVPtube and left one directly on youtube. The difference isn't earthshattering but it is very noticeable and in my mind undeniably better.
This is absolutely amazing and wouldn't surprise me if it becomes a standard feature of graphics card drivers in the next few years.
I really like this, I'm currently using it as an Avisynth plugin to bump up Counter-Strike: Source Beta replays to 60FPS as you can only export them at 24FPS.
Definitely makes everything look so much better.

No way. nv/amd CAN make it right now (see "amd steady video" for example) but they won't.

Bigger screen -> more difference.
I just can't watch anything on my 100'' screen without frame interpolation.
And theaters are really awful and jerky, even IMAX.
To anyone who tried this and found the effect really jarring and doesn't like it, give it a chance! Live with it for a day or two, it won't kill you. Watch a couple of movies with it and spend some time on youtube trying out SVPtube. I got really used to it in about a day and now I can't live without it.
