I'll have to give it to Apple though for their battery life and designs. Where else can you find a C2D that isn't ULV that has ~10hrs of battery life? And that's paired with a GT 320M. And that aluminum unibody is pretty sexy. But I would never buy it.
[img_thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/eatx.png[/img_thumb]
yea but the one on the right isn't thin.
i gotta give apple props to making sweet looking computers, but it's a bit spendy
Mac computers ain't that pretty, but the OS is.
I think it looks lovely. It'd be a great alternative to a, no offense to all you netbook owners out there, cheap feeling and looking netbook. Not everyone who is out to buy a netbook style laptop is wanting the cheapest thing on the market. Also, I can bet you the new MBA performs much better than a Atom based netbook.
Still, a 1.4GHz dual core? they can do MUCH better for the same price they charge
Its worth its weight in air.
Its worth its weight in air.
3 pounds of Air. Thats a lot.
You can still cram a CD-ROM drive, they're not that big :colbert:
Since I'm too lazy to quote, this is basically for all of you: First, this is far from a netbook. Full keyboard, nice screen, not clunky, etc as every other netbook I've seen. Second, the SSD obviously adds to the price (and the performance)
Yeah, when I think netbook, I think of small, 9 to 10 inch screen, an absolute useless and shitty resolution, an intel atom processor, and a maximum of 2GB of ram. (all of which sound pathetic.)
The real question is, what happens when you drop it?
my guess is the same thing that happens to any other laptop when you drop it. Which brings to mind another point; how the hell do you drop a fucking computer? I never dropped my iPod touch or any other device outside of taking advantage of warranties. also, is anyone else waiting for apple to start putting their processors in their macbooks?
Yeah, when I think netbook, I think of small, 9 to 10 inch screen, an absolute useless and shitty resolution, an intel atom processor, and a maximum of 2GB of ram. (all of which sound pathetic.)
Other than the CPU, that is a decent spec for a netbook. Most netbooks are lucky to have over 1GB if you are going for a extremely cheap one. But when this "netbook" costs the same as a fully fledged laptop that is a shit ton more powerful, why the fuck would you buy it? Don't say style, if you do you're a moron.
Mac computers ain't that pretty, but the OS is.
Mac Pros are quite pretty, and the build quality is great too. Dem edges be pretty damn sharp.

Isn't the dual core atom out? Not that I'm saying performance is better (I really don't know anything about the performance of the Atom vs the C2D), but wouldn't it make it run for a little time more? Or is it because OSX isn't optimized for Atoms? Just a thought.
I like the weight of my 15 lbs Alienware M17x. It's fun to carry with me to school everyday.
Wow, Alienware's M11x looks like a way better deal.
Why does everyone think the Macbook Air is a netbook? It's clearly far too large to even be considered one... That's like calling my ancient underpowered 17" laptop a netbook... it doesn't make sense. Netbooks are small.
also, is anyone else waiting for apple to start putting their processors in their macbooks?
they don't exist anymore

Size isn't just width and depth, it's also height and weight and that's where the new MBA really shines.
I own a Macbook. It's great. I paid $800 for it. It's very sexy, does what I need it to do, very sexy, and has OSX. In 2 years I haven't had a single problem with it. My battery still runs me a good 5hrs too.
It makes me think of an iPad with a keyboard.
Core 2 Duo? ... 2008 Called! They want their architecture back.
When I can afford it I may actually pick one up it looks pretty good. My laptop now sucks ass I'd like something so I can just carry it around without the power brick and ditch all my binders. [editline]21st October 2010[/editline] The core 2 duo is fine for me I might put tf2 on it that's it otherwise watching videos word programming shit that won't need that much power. I have a quad phenom oced to 3.8ghz on my desktop if I need power I'll just do it on that.
Core 2 Duo? ... 2008 Called! They want their architecture back.
Core 2 Duo's have an amazing processing power per watt ratio than most CPU's.
[img_thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/7027.png[/img_thumb] Are those...batteries? What in christs name made them stick 4 in? Sure if one dies the others should still work, but why. And Solid State storage that can't be removed, oh joy, if and when that dies you lose everything, no exceptions unless you made a backup just before it died.
They're the battery cells, they're usually stacked 2 per stack.

Anyone else find it funny how they advertise with starting at 'just 999 dollars'?
Since I'm too lazy to quote, this is basically for all of you: First, this is far from a netbook. Full keyboard, nice screen, not clunky, etc as every other netbook I've seen. If you feel like non-clunky netbooks - look at the sony vaios. They even look similar. This air definitely looks like a nice and sleek machine, but sadly I'm afraid that's the only thing that it has really going for it. The way it looks like.
Well I wish this wasn't so much, I'm looking for a netbook... And yea, why would they make the SSDs non-removable? They could've made their own housing for them, and made even more money when they inevitably die out.... Silly Apple.
