I think it looks wonderful, and I'm incredibly tempted to get the large 13" + 4GB RAM. Expensive but I hate my Windows laptop :/
is it worth it to break my back and get an apple refurbished MacBook pro for $1019 over the base MacBook air?
I'm more surprised by the screen thickness. I feel like it shouldn't work at all, but it does!
the BOM (bill of materials) comes to over $700 for the 11.6" base model.

Total: £1,259.00 :D

just got a brand new 15" macbook pro for £988 the price courtesy of my uni bursary
I might actually get one of these. It looks amazing.
Thinking about getting one just as a portable netbook thing, hmm
just got a brand new 15" macbook pro for £988 the price courtesy of my uni bursary
thought you had a good 17" one. what happened to that?
thought you had a good 17" one. what happened to that?
sold it and bought a new imac (didn't think i was going to uni this year but then i got a place so i needed to get a new macbook lmao)
sold it and bought a new imac (didn't think i was going to uni this year but then i got a place so i needed to get a new macbook lmao)
I have an iMac, but I want to sell it and buy a MacBook Pro/Air. Do you recommend ebay for selling macs? (I'm in the UK). Nice job on getting in to uni btw
Less materials, less recent hardware. And a pricetag that makes your wallet feel like its less material too.

So lets see. You pay 999. You only get 64 gigabytes of storage space? My grandmothers dell from 2003 has more than that. No cd drive either eh? Fuck off apple. Instead of trying to make the thinnest laptop out there, actually give people just a tiny bit of what they pay for.

I don't think Apple would have gone with an SSD if it hadn't been for that it had to be this thin.
They're paying for the thinness. I don't think Apple would have gone with an SSD if it hadn't been for that it had to be this thin.
Which is retarded. By making it so thin they strip down some of the basic things that is not only desired in modern computers, but essential (Hard drive space and the CD drive being the big ones). You're basicly paying to say "durr hurr look how thin it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
You dont need a cd drive. They can break easily, cds get damaged easily, and most people download these days instead of using cds

I believe jobs mentioned that he believes blu ray will be the last medium of media ever used and apple in general has been subscribing to streamed media versus the clunky, cumbersome physical DVDs and whatnot. they may me calling this one wrong, but a lot of people believe the next step beyond blu ray will be streaming, not another disc format. The past 4 windows laptops my family has gotten have lacked cd drives and it has never been a problem for anyone. I personally only use 6.79 GB on my 11.6" netbook and that includes a half dozen TV shows and flac albums, gimp, vlc, openoffice, and a few other necessities + ubuntu. I'd venture to say I'm only using 4 GB of storage if you're not including the OS itself. What else do you want on your netbook? 64 GB is more than enough and it's not as if you can't upgrade if it's that big of a deal for you ;)

The thing about the thinness is pure marketing, but well, if people is willing to pay for it, fair enough, I wouldn't though. Have a box.

I thought flash memory was different than SSD's. I can see part of the price now.
It looks pretty. That's it. Probably the most useless piece of shit apple has developed.
It looks pretty. That's it. Probably the most useless piece of shit apple has developed.
You're thinking about the iPad.
It looks pretty. That's it. Probably the most useless piece of shit apple has developed.
it does the same things as the other macbooks therefor it's useless ??!?!?!
This thing whoops my old mbp. Both 13", this is less than half the weight, feels faster, slimmer, better. Slows down on things like photoshop, but I can't expect it not to. Amazing machine. I have a 256GB one with 4GB RAM, the SSD really makes it fly! The *only* thing I miss is a backlit keyboard.
So you purchased one Fizzadar? Awesome!
Here is what someone said on a private torrent forum: "So we have a new 13" Macbook Air in the house, and after a full battery depletion and recharge, it's lasted a week without needing to get plugged in. Everyday usage for probably about an hour or more, really fucking impressive. The thing is totally snappy, and could probably handle most of what I throw out of it aside from intensive Graphics / Video work. I can't say enough good things about this machine, just sucks about the soldered on RAM." interesting. I have an acer 11.6" and a very nice windows desktop but I'm thinking of getting a 27" imac and a 13" air for college next year.
