Considering iOS 4 barely runs on my iPhone 3G i'd hate to see the slideshow of iOS 5
I got an ipod 2g as well but am not really excited about iOS5. I wouldn't even expect to run it properly/quick even if it was possible to use iOS5.
I know that my hopes that it would run even a bit faster were rather unrealistic, but they could have at least given us some kind of update to try and fix the piece of crap that iOS4 is on 2nd Gen iPod Touches/allowed us to downgrade to iOS3. I can't even play a third of my games now without crashing repeatedly.

iOS 5 isn't supported on the 3G

yeah I know what you mean, constantly running out of ram especially on things like Safari
however, I noticed that it almost never runs out of ram when I haven't jailbroke it.
I just learned that the lead producer of Skyrim confirmed that it is being developed on consoles and ported to PC.
Why are we still developing brand-new games on 5-6 year old hardware?

it's more profitable
[editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
for the companies making the consoles so they can set the bar.. and it happens to be fucking underground when compared to pc hardware atm

And that's why i love DICE for saying "Fuck that" and developing BF3 directly for PC
also i think that consoles pretty much look like ass.. more people need to develop exclusively for the PC (it's already happening, gems like terraria and minecraft)

As long as they do a good job porting it I'll still buy it.
They could just do it the source way
They made their engine XBox compatible with a few hundered if directives (Mostly because its similar, but still)
And their tools can also produce models optimized for XBox

Something makes me think that's either wrong, or that he's being misinterpreted (he could have meant "we're targeting console-level hardware").
In any case, "console port" does not mean "sucks". A good port can be just as good as a PC exclusive - Halo, for instance, had a flawless PC port, which was even better than the console version.

True console port doesn't automatically mean suck, it's just that in 95% of the cases it does and they end up being horribly optimized, buggy and look like shit.
I'm on 2G and I'm still on around 2.6 :v:

To be fair, something like 90% of native PC games are horribly optimized, buggy and look like shit.

..What? Honestly, when it was released, the PC port for Halo CE was pretty..crappy. For example, you can't run it at above 30 FPS or else cutscenes get out of sync and animations look jittery...

Huh? I never had those problems, and I was getting 60fps. No patches, either - installed from retail, and when I played it, all I had was dial-up.
Same as gman. Not the dial-up part though.
Same here.
Somehow that reminded me of trying to play HL1, the original edition with the awsome menu, it was made for like Windows 98
Pause game, view just spins when you un-pause
And, worst
All bones in all models was wrong
Scientists walking was a huge polysplosion
Looks like the iTunes cloud thingie's UK launch is in.. 2010?

You guys probably never noticed. It always bugged the hell out of me, I always kept the vsync setting off... Foley effects would often get out of sync with the rest of the cutscene mainly. *shrug*
Woah, that was cool.
I got one of those shitty scamming attempts on Steam. I open up the site, enter fake information that insults the idiot who's trying to do it, like always.
It's one of those free game scams, so you have to pick a game. I picked ARMA II.
I clicked submit and it opened up steam and offered me to download America's Army.
Well, it wasn't lying, I did get a free game. Though I didn't accept the download since America's Army sucks.
Well, I understand that it's more profitable. I get that good PC games can come from a good console port. It's just...well, it's hardware from 5 years ago!
I should be seeing people push for the advancement of the technology in this area. It's so incredibly stagnant it's ridiculous.
I should be seeing Microsoft and Sony racing to be the first to release their new console!
I was trying to upgrade the firmware on my new Samsung Blu-Ray drive, and I had to download their upgrade utility. And holy jesus. Its riddled with Engrish. Mind you, its not dreadfully awful Engrish, you still get the idea of what they mean, but its weird when a major company does this.

I'm not sure to remove a disc from a set. Or remove an E:/ CD title.

Great, now I know not to bludgeon my power supply with a hammer at this time. Good to know.

I'm actually pretty sure its not.
Oh yeah, their firmware page is very strangely worded also.

Fact: Not every PC gamer has an uber-rig or ultra-modern hardware.
The single most common video card on the Steam Hardware Survey is the GeForce 9800. That's followed by the 8800, the GTX 260, the Radeon 5770 and the GeForce 9600. Out of the top five cards, the newest is two years old, and the oldest is five. You have to go down to 44th to get a "current-gen" video card, the GTX 560.
Most games have a dual-core processor (just over half do). That's beaten by both the PS3 and the XBox - the PS3 has 8 "cores" and the XBox has three cores, which are effectively hyper-threaded (2 threads per core).
Barely anyone has a monitor significantly above 1080p (1920x1200 is close enough that framerates won't really change). Multi-monitor setups are even rarer.
Sure, we've got consoles totally beat on RAM and hard drive space. But RAM is slightly less necessary in a console (they're much more memory-efficient by design), and hard drives are practically unnecessary for consoles.
Also, answer me this: is there any game you could make for a theoretical console with dual 6990s and an i7 990X that you can't make (at lower graphical quality) for the 360? All I've seen is the same games, just with much better graphics. Sure, it's nice to look at the pretty pictures, but it doesn't necessarily make the games any more fun.

there are a lot of games being made for atmosphere these days and atmosphere doesn't really work when everything looks like ass
