Forgot what?
Forgot what?
This Also this isn't my pc so don't talk shit about it.
They... Are... Coming... in a couple hours. Hope no one steal them off my front door mat or my UPS guy throwing them :(
They... Are... Coming... in a couple hours. Hope no one steal them off my front door mat or my UPS guy throwing them :(
Hold on let me just tracert and buy a plane ticket.
I suppose it depends on your definition of fast. I always pick 3 day shipping with UPS, since its usually the [often only] least expensive option. In this case, it was free.
3 days is fast for me, it always takes AT LEAST 2 weeks to get anything here. Got something shipped from Ontario (Toronto I think), took 2 weeks with Canada post. Last time I got something shipped from Newegg, it took 2 days to get from Cali to the east coast border, it got stuck for 3 days on customs then it took 5 days to get from Montreal to where I live (394 kilometers) :frog:

Can take up to 2 weeks to get threw then they charge you sales tax because ebay doesn't have a HST number.

It's horrible and for some reason the screen resolution is stuck on 800x600. I *could* possibly fix it, But i don't really want to touch it Opened it up and took the HDD for use in one of my old PC's though. All that sweet 20 GB space [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] I could probably get a photo of the inside on Monday. It's tight as all fuck when closed but the opening mechanism is rather pretty imo
Don't trust the stability of bitcoins in the near future. The currency is reportedly coming under fire by US Congress due to its unregulated nature. On a side note, what the fuck gives the corrupt and inept US government so much control over the World Wide Web??
i've already made hundreds of dollars from people buying bitcoins from me so ~~fuck the police~~ they can do whatever they want, i've already ridden this thing as far as i need to
I honestly don't see how the US Congress could do fucking anything to Bitcoins. Even if they magically somehow manage to block it so you can't exchange them into USD, people will just get an overseas bank account, use that for BTC <-> USD/EUR/whatever and then send it to their bank account in the States from there.

I haven't even mined a single fucking Bitcoin yet. I have 0.3BTC paid out on my server machine and 0.4BTC on a pool, waiting. Oh well, at least I got my bank shit ready this week so when I hit 1BTC, I can cash in and get an amazing 17+ bucks. Yeah, right. Like it'll ever sell.
I tried Bitcoin mining too, my friend's ATI HD5770 beat my 2x295GTX setup by about 100Mhash/s :saddowns: [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] By this rate (40Mhash on each card), i'll get a single Bitcoin in a week.
Man, I don't even want to know how badly my laptop would do at bitcoin mining. Core 2 Duo and a 9600... ouch.
Could anybody give me what stuff or whatever they use for bitcoin? I dl'ed the program from the site but I don't know what to do now.

Electricity costs worth it?
Mining Bitcoins on Nvidia cards is impossible/really slow (even a Tesla gets outperformed by a HD5770) due to architectural differences.
I was more concerned with the hardware being so old and underpowered in general. Maybe I should just set it up on Nayru, let it run for a week or two. I don't need to be making hundreds of dollars off bitcoins.
My electricity's in the rent and it doesn't change upon consumption. And my parents are paying it. [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] What I like about Bitcoin mining, is that it's sort of like Folding@home, but you're actually doing something where you can see the result. And come on, fuck people with cancer if I can generate enough money on a spare computer to get a free month of WoW every now and then.
I've been trying to figure out how to mine for bitcoin, I just can't seem to figure out what to do. Every website I find is talking about how their computer is shutting down because of heat or what bitcoin is. I guess I am Googling the wrong thing?

The instructions that come with RPCminer are great. I use this bat to start my miner:
start c:\bc\rpcminer-opencl.exe -url=http://btcguild.com:8332 -user=username -password=password
You can also use GUIminer if you don't like having a command prompt open all the time. Oh and of course you use the miner that suits you best. OpenCL for AMD/ATI, CUDA for nvidia, 4way or CPU for CPU-mining. Mining with a CPU is pretty useless though.
Why is CPU mining useless? I have an Nvidia with Cuda and an i7... So I am assuming I would go with CUDA then?
Why is CPU mining useless? I have an Nvidia with Cuda and an i7... So I am assuming I would go with CUDA then?
gpus just get more per second [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] khash or whatever it is i forget exactly why
in my experience with guiminer, the CUDA miner was balls and even made my Mhash/s drop.
Due to the nature of the calculations, they're easy as hell to run in parallel, thus GPUs are a far superior choice. My quad-core Phenom II at 3.4GHz gets around 9000 khash/sec My PowerColor HD5770 1GB without any overclocks gets 150,000 khash/sec Also, I read something about the latest nvidia drivers adding OpenCL support but I have no idea if that's actually usable.
i'm getting 32500 khash/sec with a gts 450 good think i'm doing pooled mining so i can actually get something
