What. I get 35Mhash/s with a GTS 250 :v:
I was reformatting my brother computers. something went wrong and this error came up. i was on the floor laughing my ass off.

[sp]Look at corrupted file name[/sp]
It's pretty funny, because I was screwing with my friend about two years ago, and we were using Teamviewer. I deleted that file, and it actually deleted. I told him to restart, and he was perfectly fine.
What you want to do is get an account at a bitcoin mining pool like mining.bitcoin.cz or btcguild.com, go and download RPCminer and config that up.
The instructions that come with RPCminer are great.
I use this bat to start my miner:
start c:\bc\rpcminer-opencl.exe -url=http://btcguild.com:8332 -user=username -password=password
You can also use GUIminer if you don't like having a command prompt open all the time.
Oh and of course you use the miner that suits you best. OpenCL for AMD/ATI, CUDA for nvidia, 4way or CPU for CPU-mining.
Mining with a CPU is pretty useless though.
What do I need to do to actually get that bat to work? I don't ever use .bat files (often) and I have it saved as a bat and everything, but it just wants to print the line "start blah blah blah" in the console. Bah, whatever I'll figure it out not a problem.
His profile picture is the Apple logo, did you honestly expect anything non-fanboyish out of him?
I guess, but there's two other people that are also spewing things without any real arguments. It's like I'm arguing with a bunch of tape recorders on rewind

Same here. I also discovered that bitcoins are the most valuable later at night for some reason. :v: So I have to remember to do my purchases then.
Anyone know what the best BTC miner is? I want a new computer but don't have any money for it.

And should I use a mining pool? I'm still new to the bitcoin idea.
Don't trust the stability of bitcoins in the near future. The currency is reportedly coming under fire by US Congress due to its unregulated nature.
On a side note, what the fuck gives the corrupt and inept US government so much control over the World Wide Web??
How can they take down bitcoin, a currency with no central bank?
1 bitcoin nets you 22$ in newegg cash on bitegg

yes, unless you are super lucky you won't find the 50 coin block on your own
interesting... is that your average speed? Because I'm also using a 5770 to mine and i get 20 MH/sec more than that.
It's not exactly the most reliable way to keep track of the speed, that's from the BTCGuild website.
I prefer using the khash/sec as a measurement that RPCminer shows, since it shows how many hashes it's going through total instead of that mhash/sec that shows how many hashes it has found and returned.
Would you recommend RPC Miner?
Would you recommend RPC Miner?
basically whatever one you want to use, there isnt much difference between a lot of the popular ones
Would you recommend RPC Miner?
If you're new to it, try GUIMiner.
Well this is pretty exciting... It is kind of fun. Wow, I need to go find something to do, I must be extremely bored.
i just want some stuff but no one has any work to do right now in my neighborhood
Yeah, I have been looking for something extra I can do on top of my normal work for a little extra fun money. Can't seem to find much of anything to do.
Hmm... I may not have thought my idea of "buy a domain name and web hosting with bitcoins" all the way through. Now that I have it, I have no idea what I'm going to use it for. I want to use it for showcasing my games eventually, but that's not going to happen for at least 3-4 months.

When I first got into computers. :gonk:
This was my own first PC. In about 2005.
No hard drive, since I got it from a school. So I used to play DOS games on it all the time. Then I finally bought a hard drive (4 GB aww yeah) and put Windows 2000 and used it to play Simcity 4.
I used it as a server with Ubuntu 10.04 on it up until December last year.
This was my first computer:

eMachines etower 333id. 4.3 GB hard drive, 32MB of RAM, Intel Celeron 333 MHz, running Windows 98. From 1999.
I don't remember much about my first machine, but I do remember that it was running Windows 3.11 for Workstations.
And it had a really, really slow CD-drive.
my first machine was windows 98
no net connection
karmageddon erry day awwh yeah :c00lbert:
