BitMining on a 6970, 335 MHash/s
Bit mining on my Core2Duo, 1500 Khash/s and a 7600GS and Pentium 4 combined 500 KHash/s. This ain't gonna work.

also 335 MHash is horrible on a 6970
Why does AMD GPU's have so better scores? Im running my overclocked MSI 590 and I'm only getting 190Mhash/s.

20gb of free space just disappeared overnight. At first i thought steam downloaded all games again because i loaded garrysmod, but it didn't D:
Wait, what's dumb about that? It's not like it's his fault that he gets a horrible speed...
It's dumb because this isn't the bitcoin thread.

Nope, turned out steam actually had downloaded the games but didn't list them as downloaded?

That's not a question?
Why does AMD GPU's have so better scores? Im running my overclocked MSI 590 and I'm only getting 190Mhash/s.
AMD GPUs have a lot of stream processors that run at slower speeds, nVidia GPUs have less stream processors, but they run a lot quicker.
Since the difficulty of the algorithm isn't all that complicated, you don't need much power in calculating it, you need more cores to run as many copies of the same process simultaneously. It's the same reason why hashing on a CPU is so slow, because you have very few threads running the same algorithm (assuming the mining program is multithreaded, most people would have between 2-4 simultaneous copies of the algorithm running). On a GTX280, for example, you have 240 copies of the algorithm running simultaneously (assuming every processor is being used), and on a 4870, you have 800 copies of it.
While for general use (games) the nearly doubled clock speed of the GTX280 stream processors (~1.3GHz vs. the 4870's ~750MHz) makes up for the lack of stream processors and they both work out roughly the same in terms of performance, repetitive and simple algorithms using OpenCL/CUDA/any other GPGPU library benefit greatly from a higher number of cores. Overclocking will only get you a marginal change in MHash/s.
That being said, there's a bitcoin thread - use it.

I think it was actually kitty porn.
reminds me of this news article where a guy claimed his cat downloaded child porn on limewire
Reminds me of this Finnish nigh-celebrity who claimed little girls had forced him to video them in suggestive poses.
I mean seriously.
the network feels horrible because pando media downloader is installed with APB, which is basically malware that runs all the time (while ingame also, so it causes lag, and out of game so it lags everything) and uploads copies of APB to other people downloading it. Fucking dirty business practices, stealing their customers bandwidth.
[editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
pando isnt actually the patcher, pando only handles uploads. you can download new patches fine without it, so i suggest to anyone with APB to find gamersfirst live, find pando (both installed in diff program folders) and nuke the shit out of both of them.
wow
Well I just removed both, lets see how the game plays.
So my school has those Ethernet ports that are built into the wall like one of these:

Well, last week according to my IT teacher, another staff teacher had managed to crash the schools network. Apparently this teacher created a "loop" in the network. According to my IT teacher, she placed both ends of the ethernet cable into the 2 ports that are inbuilt in the wall. :iiam:
Those ports in the wall go to a switch. Last time I tried making a "loop" on a switch, nothing happened
I do want to see what happens if you do it at my school though
Reminds me of when we were on the computers, somebody decided to put a junction for ethernet ports right next to one of the desks, my friend was there
He took one out to see who it fucked over
Nobody noticed after a minute so I decided to go back to browsing
I had no internet connection
Out of all the cables that were there, he pulled mine :v:
[editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
Nobody was doing anything important anyway, there were 5 cables there for our row
Two were ours, one wasn't logged in, one was on powerpoint and the other one had about 4 people crowded around, they were most likely on failblog or some shit (We were hoping to cut their internet)
Any good router has loop-detection which kills the link causing the problem.
We're talking about a school network so they probably have some nice Cisco gear somewhere handling everything.
Just got to get a hotfix how hard could it be

[editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
looks like I'm downloading all the x64 ones!
Do a smart scan with Nod32 -> Insta jump to 33% -> Stay stuck on that for 1 hour.
Why do we even use progressbars?
Also
For your convenience, we put the hotfix that you requested on an HTTP site. You can download the hotfix from this site without us filling up your e-mail inbox.
Thanks!
This anti virus looks legit:

What's the point of a registration page... that has a built in keygen?
If you can even call it a keygen (I bet it just uses the same key over and over)

I love how he went with the xmas colorscheme (Green and red)

Yes, but by default STP is not enabled.

Progressbars should show progress, not the lack of it.

Don't insult Christmas by associating it with that

Speaking of keygens, they have the awesomest chiptunes ever.
If this crappy AV had that, it would be somewhat tolerable.
