Steam was fucked for a few minutes, couldn't launch Steam games. Tried to play Fallout NV, wouldn't launch, tried to launch Terriara, "Please launch through Steam client," tried to launch Altitude, "Steam must be running to play this game." I was confused, turns out my sister got on my PC and did something.
Me: “Thank you for calling [electronics store]. How may I help you?”
Caller: “I came into the store a few hours ago and bought a computer, but I think something is wrong with it.”
Me: “What seems to be the problem, sir?”
Caller: “Well, it seems to turn on. The little light goes on and everything, but nothing comes up except ‘no signal’.”
Me: “Is this a desktop computer, or a notebook?”
Caller: “It’s one of the big screen ones. Not a laptop.”
Me: “Alright, it’s a desktop. Are you positive you followed all the directions in the manual and connected everything properly?”
Caller: “Huh? Why would I need to use the manual? It was pretty simple.”
Me: “Well, just to be sure, could you please check the manual and make sure everything is plugged in properly?”
Caller: “Well, there is one cord sitting there but I figured that it was the internet cable. We don’t have internet yet.”
Me: “Is the cord coming out of the monitor or the tower?”
Caller: “It’s not plugged into anything. The only thing I have plugged in is the computer into the wall.”
Me: “What about the monitor?”
Caller: “The what?”
Me: “The monitor, as in, the screen.”
Caller: “Right, the computer. Like I said, it’s plugged into the wall.”
Me: “Sir, let me get this straight. You have the screen plugged into the wall and nothing else?
Caller: “Right.”
Me: “And you didn’t buy anything else, right?”
Caller: “Right.”
Me: “Sir, you just bought the monitor. That isn’t the computer. That’s just the screen.”
Caller: “What are you talking about? Of course this is the computer! I’ve seen a whole bunch of computers before and they look just like this!”
Me: “Did all those computer have a big piece of machinery sitting near them?”
Caller: “Yeah, I guess. Why?
Me: “That would be the computer.”
Caller: “You’re joking, right?”
Me: “Nope. Sorry, sir.”
Caller: “Well damn. How much more does the rest cost?”
Me: “It depends how powerful you want it to be. You could get a low-end computer for about $300 to $400.”
Caller: “But, I already spent $150 on this thing!”
Me: “Sorry, sir. But if you want a computer you’ll, uh, need to buy the computer.”
Caller: “To hell with all this! I’m not spending that kind of money! I’m never buying a computer again!”
Me: “Well, sir. You didn’t buy one in the first place.”
Caller: *click*
Some old gold from the ever wonderful Computer Stupidities
Around 2001, our family got a new desktop computer from a popular computer company. We also got an inkjet printer in a sort of bundle deal. After a few weeks of flawless operation, the printer ceased working and made an odd clicking sound whenever a document was sent to it. We called customer support for help.
The customer support associate went through an idiotic troubleshooting checklist ("Is the printer plugged into the wall?" and so forth) and then had us check the device manager and reinstall the printer drivers. I told him it did not appear to be a software problem, because the printer was making odd noises, which indicated a mechanical failure of some kind. After an hour long session of troubleshooting, we were advised to box up the computer and printer and send it to their repair center. Yes, not just the printer but the computer as well.
They asked if we had any files on the hard drive that we'd like to save. We told them which files and folders to save for us. Finally we got the computer back and a new printer. The computer had been wiped and the operating system reinstalled, and we got our data files on a CD.
The problem? A cheeto had fallen into the printer and jammed it. They sent the cheeto back in a small plastic bag. The printer was covered by the warranty, but the CD backup was not, so they charged us $100 for it.
That kind of thing should be illegal.
Charging for a format and backup when it's nothing to do with the issue?

Geek squad would have been $200
Geek squad would have been $200
To simply be asked to look at it, not looking at it.
geeks squad would have been 50$ for the phone troubleshooting, 500$ for them repairing it, then 300$ for the files on the cd, the hard drive wipe and the os reinstall. also seven hundred dollars to cover the shipping and handling.

I believe it's an imperfection with the camera... Or the lense. Let me test both lenses real quick.

Oh, I see why did the teacher gave the camera away.
The CCD has a dead pixel, it seems.
