How big is the difference between x4 and x16, anyway?
You can't be sure that the the GPU will actually work in the x4 slot, as some motherboards will only accept the "primary" if it isn't CF or SLI. Anyway, depending on the card you'll probably get something like ~80% of the total bandwidth, from what I've seen. Depends largely on the game, too. Ninja.
Yeah heh....
WAIT A MINUTE
DOES THAT THING COME WITH.....RED LEDS!?!?
Instant buy!
I'd say get the 922.
What is the difference between the 912 and 922?
I'm considering getting a new case soon
I'd say get the 922.
They don't have that..(the store I usually buy my things)

Also, the difference between x4 and x16 isn't huge? Well, I'll still buy a new case
Just because I want my stuff to perform the best
your 460 seriously doesn't fit in that case? that really sucks. I was looking at that case, I've been looking for one that lays down horizontally. My 560 fits easily in my mATX case and that doesn't seem smaller at all.
Well, it does fit now when I put it in another slot...
Let me fix this ghost page

let me fix this box avalanche
oh wait there's no stopping it
What is the difference between the 912 and 922?
about 10.

Did you buy the lian-li or whatever?

They don't like it when you go in the secondary.

Get a welding torch and cut the card in half. It worked fine for me. My only problem is the smoke and sparks that occasionally come out of my case.
Go check wikipedia.org.
Look at the William Shakespeare site.
Warning. HIGHLY NSFW!!!
For whoever it was that was asking:
A PCIe x16 card is electrically compatible with a PCIe x4 slot. You can put it in, no worries about breaking the card. If the slot is open-ended (sounds like it is), that will be undamaged as well.
I can't guarantee that it will work, software-wise, but it probably will. The only thing I'd even think could cause it to not work is some sort of motherboard problem.
It could, possibly, bottleneck the card's performance. I'd probably bet on it doing so, actually. PCIe 2.0 x16 carries up to 8GB/s of data, a 2.0 x4 carries only 2GB/s of data. So it would be comparable to using the AGP version of your card, if there is one.
Low-end cards might not be affected - if they can't saturate even the reduced-capacity link, they will work exactly the same. I haven't had personal experience with this, though, so I can't say either way.
If you're interested, the reason this works is that PCIe is designed that way. The first 11 pins (before the notch) on any PCIe card carry power, grounding and basic control pins. This is followed (after the notch) by one or more 7-pin "lanes", that carry data. On an x1 card, there's just one lane, hence 7 pins. On an x4, there's four lanes (28 pins). On an x16, sixteen lanes (192 pins). On an x32 (they exist), thirty-two lanes (384 pins). If the card cannot make electrical contact to the CPU via one of the lanes, it simply doesn't use it. That reduces bandwidth, but it makes PCIe rather resilient - if, say, the mobo breaks slightly and cannot connect one of the lanes, it can still function.
you know sometimes I think gman isn't a brainbox he just has constant access to wikipedia

Actually, that one, all I had to look up was the number of pins for everything. Because seriously, who memorizes that?

I just picture you as Tux with a wise old mans beard, now.
Parts came. I did unboxing videos of all of them already. Going to prep my system to be rebuilt. Hopefully my Raid 1 data will be safe. I'm going to break the raid 1 so that both drives hopefully have the same data, wipe my Raid 0, break it too, then try to spread the data I have over both of those. So I have 3 copies of all the data.

Do want
Why is the PSU box so big?
Because it's a extended PSU + 1000watts of cable stuff
Just found a netgear DG834GT to replace the wank stain of a router that i might give to photonicinduction and this came up when configuring the static IP address for my NAS.

Now, what to do with this

agree for sending to photonicinduction
disagree for me smashing it myself and posting results
funny for simply throwing it in the bin
I learnt something very valuable today.
Never let parents that aren't a hairdresser near your hair, fringe was getting in my eyes asked mum for it JUST above eyebrows that's like an inch off, looks in the mirror and it's now a like a couple centimetres long :froggonk:
should have just kept my hair the way it was :smith:

What's the possibility of free repair or change of device ?
What's the possibility of free repair or change of device ?
It was a piece of crap when it worked
constant dropped connections, couldn't open ports, froze if you copied stuff from the NAS and browsed the web and you can't even change the shitty antenna.

Then smash it for the amusement of all - Nope
After looking up what photonicinduction was (thought it was the company that made the thing :v:) i revise. Send it
