Finally I got Windows installed. Now I'm installing all the motherboard drivers and guess what? IT'S FILLED WITH NORTON ADS :gonk:
If anyone else is wondering: Yes, normal Windows keys work with Anytime Upgrade. Got an Ultimate key for 5 bucks :flashfap:
From where? I want 7 for my PC with Vista if I can get it for cheap.
Mine came with a VGA cable and a HDMI->DIV cable, except my laptop only has HDMI and VGA, and I'm too lazy to buy a HDMI/HDMI cable. :v: Although monitors aren't exactly my expertise, so tell me what's wrong with VGA?
VGA is analog. It's designed for CRTs, which can basically just send the VGA signal straight to the display. Any other type of monitor, especially LCDs, will have to re-convert the signal to digital, meaning you get a small amount of blur, colors might not be balanced right, etc. Generally, if at all possible, you should be using DVI or HDMI, which are proper digital connections for digital data.

Is anyone else reading that Brohoster thread?
Is anyone else reading that Brohoster thread?
Jesus Christ poor JWJ, I had no idea how bad it really was Oh lord its now highlighted, this is gonna be good (or bad depending on your point of view)

I guess I'll stick with VGA since it looks normal to me. (I also had some problems when plugging in the VGA cable, since it kept looking for the HDMI1 input. Figured I had to let Windows detect it again, then 'reboot' the monitor.) It's a Samsung Syncmaster BX2231, for the reference.
My Newegg parts finally arrived . . . in my city. Too bad I cant just run down to the store and pick them up.
You need to adjust the overscan in the graphics card settings.
I already plugged it in with VGA, and I don't have the catalyst control panel installed, only the drivers. Besides, it looks good enough for me right now, no visible blur or anything. But the next time I'll try it, thanks.
There is this tool from Nvidia that lets me force Full screen super sampling, but for some reason it's not working. I was under the assumption that full screen supersampling could work on ANY game since it's simply rendering multiples of the frame and downscaling. But no game seems to work with it. I want to run Crysis with supersampling but nothing changes. This is the tool that Nvidia released that supposedly can do it. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2624 It seemed to work with minecraft, but with this new system it doesn't seem to make a difference. And it sucks. Anyone have an idea? Is 92 celsius bad? I'm trying out bitmining.
Is 92 celsius bad? I'm trying out bitmining.
[s]How haven't you killed it at that temperature? I'm a computer illiterate and I know that that's bad. Ahh, seems I'm wrong about temps, illiteracy proven!
So I decided to benchmark my gpu- DEAR GOD NO what

Well it certainly cuts down on its life time.
Well it certainly cuts down on its life time.
Only marginally, if you're going to run it at 94c constantly for a week, yeah it'll break eventually. If you're playing Crysis 2 on your oh-so bad 5770 (like me) on Hardcore for a few hours then it isn't going to cut down the life time much unless you're planning on keeping it for 8 years.
I'm afraid as soon as it get's over 60c. Fan speed on 90% at 70c.

I bought my 5770 last year and I'm already thinking about saving up for a new GPU.
Hmm, how much does watercooling usually cost?
Hmm, how much does watercooling usually cost?
Not that much, Mostly the gas you burn driving to the nearest lake, And the display cable (Length varies on distance to said lake)
Depends what you're watercooling and how cool it needs to be.
Oh god. 3 AVs, explorer.exe has been starting for 10 minutes now, a shitty custom theme, MBAM is going crazy from all the infected files it detects WHAT DO I DO :byodood:
Not that much, Mostly the gas you burn driving to the nearest lake, And the display cable (Length varies on distance to said lake)
No, no, never use lake water. Glacial runoff, that's the stuff. Just barely above 0C, and as close to pure as you'll get in nature.

I missed that. I just thought that moste people might not be able to lay the VGA/DVI that long. Should have known Darn you Gman and you wiki like brain
What's with the mobo chip temperature? It really shouldn't be higher than 50ºC Out of all my mobos, I've never seen one get that hot.
If that's the northbridge temperature, some mobo manufacturers put a very crappy (but usually good looking) heatsink on it and make it so all the hot air end up there, so this happens pretty often.
