I can testify to the fact that this is hands down the best mouse I have ever used, ever. It's like $90 on Newegg, and worth every penny due to its insane level of customization. It meets pretty much all of the OP's criteria, save for the weight(even without the saucer weights in the solid steel chassis, the mouse still is pretty hefty).
the whole "hardcore gamer!!!" market is basically retarded because reasonably priced consumer peripherals are not going to make any performance difference compared to your horrendously overpriced "gaming" hardware. i've been using this mouse for a year and a half and it has never failed me. the sensitivity and tracking on it is perfectly fine, and i'm using it on a shiny white surface. it's not jittery, it responds to fast and slow movements, and it's a wireless mouse with a 3 year battery and it's a laser mouse. of course i always lose in video games to the guys with expensive mice :rolleye:
MX518 is great, reliable, and reasonably priced.
I use this http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/7976590/Gigabyte-GM-M6880-Gaming-Laser-USB-Mouse-Black/Product.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=gigabyte+mouse&urlrefer=search it's got one click dpi change between three pre-sets and it costs less than a tenner, I would have forked out for a better one but sadly I'm a student ....
I had one of those, they are actually very very good and the shape is awesome. The scroll wheel wore out on mine after a while, though.
You can manually up the polling rate to 500 or 1000 Hz btw, generally helps a lot.
I've tried t o overclock it, it only goes up to 200~Hz as in 5ms. I've tried the other ones too. It's probably because the mouse is like 7 or so years old (+/- a year or two). Either that or I was unsucessful.....
Explain to me why you want on the fly DPI changing so badly apart from "so i can do 1080 degree spins for fun".
Because it's fun! I would like the one where you can change from one DPI directly to another and back, like two DPI settings only on one button. I'm pretty sure the XAI has that.
Laser is generally worse than optical when it comes to gaming except for like one or two exceptions (Deathadder and Xai being the ones I can think of right now). Laser mice can generally handle higher DPI's but the people with the best aim (top Quake or CSS players) usually use DPI's of 400 or 800 because they play at low sensitivities and human error becomes amplified with higher DPI's, they know they aren't perfect.
The mouse is 400 dpi so anything else that can get there (as in ALL of the mice people have mentioned), it would work out.
Thus I suggest you get an Intellimouse 3.0, which is known to be a very good and cheap optical mouse that also has those side buttons you want so badly. Assuming you want functionality and performance rather that aesthetics and gimmicks. Even though the Logitech MX518 costs about the same as a 3.0, I don't recommend it because a lot of people have problems with the grip and the sensor has built-in correction, which you don't want for aiming.
A friend has the IE 3.0, he said that you can overclock it to 1000 Hz which is 1 ms. But he said that the side buttons are sometimes anooying like the one closer to the front/wired part of the mouse. He wouldn't recommend the Abyssus. He also has a DeathAdder and he said that it's good. And if you don't really care about side buttons you should consider the Razer Abyssus as well, which is also optical and known to be very good.
Stop making a thread and go try mice yourself, you're NEVER getting a mouse that'll satisfy you from asking others. You're 99% sure to run into fanboys ( like here on facepunch, where every thread like this is being showered with MX518 and G500 )
yeah seriously just buy any 30+ dollar mouse that has features you want from a trusted manufacturer and you're going to be impressed and like it, and it's going to perform well

Yes, there were fanboys here (uhhhhhh........)
Best investment ever :smug: promise. No but seriously I have the Logitech G5, it was good priced when I got it a long while back and it has withstood what I've put it through. I recommend it but I haven't been on the tech scene in a while :frown:
The mouse is 400 dpi so anything else that can get there (as in ALL of the mice people have mentioned), it would work out.
except many of those mice will still have acceleration problems among other things.
Mionix Naos 5000 or 3200

So just today my mouse broke, so I'm probably getting a new one soon. I've had my eyes on the G500 for a while, and now I actually have a reason to buy it. But there's one thing that I'd like to know before I do: What's the build quality like on that thing? Considering it costs almost 60€ I want it to work flawlessly for at least 4-5 years. Until now I've been using cheaper gaming mice (Razer Krait and Speedlink Styx), but each of them had some issues/broke down in about two years of use. Now I just want to know if it's worth shelling out that much money because lately there's been a large flood of cheap gaming mice with good specs at ~30€ price.

They also have a great warranty system.
price =/= quality mx518 is better than most while also being cheaper than most
Done. Otherwise, stick with a mouse that fits your hands and needs and hopefully isn't expensive.

Some people have tracking issues but I personally haven't seen any yet. Overall this mouse if worth it.

MX518. I just got one myself... My little review for it? Get it. The mouse senstivity adjustment is fucking helpful when your playing a game with one shot rifles(WW2 Online <3 ) My only con for it is actually the fact of the window button, but that can be extremly helpful when your game crashes or even possibly if someone tries to cold admin you on a game.

Just found a place that's selling the G500 for 42€, I'm definitely getting it
You can use Setpoint to change the window button to another generic button btw.
Hey, is setpoint as good as intellipoint? and is there one for dell?
I have setpoint on my Dell, what? Wait a Dell what?
I have setpoint on my Dell, what? Wait a Dell what?
What?
Hey, is setpoint as good as intellipoint? and is there one for dell?
Setpoint is logitech's proprietary software for configuring their mice. It's on windows. And the functions vary depending on the model.
fanboys....
fanboys....
what's your beef Logitech makes great mice, I don't like the Mx518myself (I think it's outdated) but it and other mice like it (G5, G500) are great for their price and mice like the G9x (for people with a more claw like grip) are great as well. The mouse that will be replacing my G5 wont be a Logitech but I can't deny that it's a great brand.
I have an Intellimouse 1.1a. It's nice to see others still use it. It's pretty nice. (that or I haven't seen "good" mice)
G9x seems to be designed for claw/fingertip users.
