I'm not attacking you. What you are claiming your job to be is pretty hard to believe, seeing as we're on the internet and we know nothing about each other.
You haven't heard of such a job? You should look up Milky on these forums, he's done some pretty nice work. About you not doing the job for him because you'd rather tell him what to think, I'd take his job and get the money doing the build, and after doing similar jobs for others, I'd have enough money to do a build like this as well while you enjoy your budget i5 build. And you apparently didn't even read my post because my build only has 32GB of RAM. Read it and you'd see that I actually did pick out all those parts for top-end gaming performance. I'm truly sorry you find it more worthwhile to bitch at people about their personal choices than actually helping them with what they want.
How old are you...? I must've hit a soft spot. Maybe if you spam with just a few more bitchy posts, we'll all start listening to your wise words instead (despite the fact that I'm the one actually being helpful here.)

I know the job and I know that it basically means you are an idiot who wanted a job with PCs and couldn't get beyond putting parts in a case, probably without actually picking the parts yourself. You only have a job because people still fear the might of putting a pc together themselves, but you have no qualifications to recommend any specs other than what people usually buy or what you usually sell them, which once again is simply the most expensive overall built.

I can almost tell you for certain that this guy spent more than OP would if he got my build, but instead of just bitching at the guy for "wasting money", we admire his nice new badass PC. So why can we admire the work of others who are capable of buying things like this on their own, but we instead start a shitfest when someone needs a little help? No response? I thought so.
We're not helping OP much because he's being stubborn. He was breaking the golden rule of the Internet (don't be a dick) with his stubbornness.
Unless OP smartens up, nobody will help him much.
If it were something even more demanding like straight heavy gaming, video/audio editing, F@H, Bitcoin mining, AND CAD simultaneously, then the parts OP had would make a bit more sense, but things still could be improved.
However, OP only stated gaming.
Happen to have any certifications to show that you're actually a professional?
And applications can be graphics intensive too fyi

Fascinating, care to tell me more about the other rules of the internet? "Nobody will help him much": No, you guys are the ones not helping. Is this really that hard to see? I'm perfectly fine with helping someone build a badass PC. And nvidia blows at bitcoin mining anyways, AMD cards that have equivalent gaming performance mine bitcoins about 5x as fast as nvidia counterparts. Once again, showing you that whether or not any of you realize/accept it, the build that I originally posted is a specialized, gaming-optimized machine that will last many years to come. And if you really care so much, I work in a little shop with some friends and I have my A+ cert for now, but am currently working on my Bachelor's in network security.

For gaming, 16 GB is fine, and you could get by with 8 anyways.
And yes, AMD is better for mining Bitcoins, but NVIDIA's cards are better for F@H, so it comes down to what you want to do more.
Plus, let's see picture proof of your A+ certification.

You can just black out the more personal stuff you know.
Unless someone beats me to the punch (which will probably happen), I'll pick it apart in the morning as I'm on a mobile device.

So how does that work exactly. Is there an unofficial Facepunch app? Or are you using a standard browser, because I always get connection problems when I do that.
Sometime's it's hard to be able to argue on the go.

You're only getting one GTX 680 for an overall build price much greater than mine, which includes two.
That PSU is overkill and wasted potential given the rest of the hardware.
The RAM is way overpriced.
Spending $900 on a motherboard isn't going to affect your FPS one bit compared a $300 one, thus more wasted money.
The i7-3770k is better for gaming and less of waste of money than the i7-3960X.
The Vertex 1 series is old and outdated, not to mention that one's only 30GB so it'd hardly hold more than a windows install.
Case, mouse etc are personal preferences so I won't knock those.
See, being helpful isn't hard at all.

Definitely DDT material already.
And I'm using Chrome on iOS. Even though people have reported load speed issues (which I haven't had), the added functionality like syncing tabs and history as well as on-demand incognito mode without needing to go into settings makes up for it.

It'll go on until the OP gets his build, whether or not people want to bitch up a storm about the number in the budget along the way.

You can't keep faking Devil's Advocate forever. $4,000 for a gaming build is a ludicrous amount for only a slightly better increase in performance. I also doubt this guy has the knowledge to mess with an SLI build anyways to work properly for games.

I didn't even spend that much myself, and gave some tips on how to reduce wasteful spending even more. But again, if OP wants a nice machine, who are we to say he can't? I would've said the same thing earlier, that spending as much would be better distributed along upgrades, but he showed that that's not what he wants to do. And it's not like SLI is difficult or anything, all you have to do is connect the cables and the drivers take care of the rest. You don't even have to install multi-gpu game profiles like with Crossfire.
Ignore the boxed cause that is if I'm paying by bank which I know I won't be once I raise the funds.

"Waste" is subjective, it depends on the circumstances. For most of us, myself included, I'd consider spending more than ~1500 a "waste." But if the dude hasmoney, then more power to him. I'm not going to tell him how to use his own money, and actually enjoyed building a machine with his budget. I could also argue spending more than 500 on a computer is a waste, or I could argue there is no such thing as waste. If you've ever taken an econ class, you'd know that value is entirely subjective. There is no "this is the best computer that anyone would ever need."
I built my PC completely from scratch, as I didn't have anything else lying around. Apart from a laptop hard disk, but it wouldn't do justice so I had to buy an SSD and a Spinpoint 1TB F3 as well as a Blu-ray drive.
Congrats, but you also probably weren't intending to play all the latest games at max settings for years to come, now were you?
Where is the fun in spending $4000 and then not having to play around inside the computer for the next 6 years? I spent about £1400, which is a little over $2k and that leaves me with opportunity to perhaps add another GPU down the line, add another SSD and play around in the BIOS some more. I had the money to go whole hog and blow £2500 ($4k) on a pc, but I can currently run any game on the market at max settings, and have some money left over to spend in the Steam sale, and put to one side for a rainy day, or just leave till I decide to upgrade. More money than sense if you ask me.
What you're suggesting would be a utter waste anyway. $2000 is a line between useful and waste. OP(I won't even dare type his name cause his attitude doesn't deserve it) could of kept the case, HDDs, DVD drives, PSU, and have a lot more cash for further down the line upgrades if they spent no more than $2000. However by spending $4000 as his budget, he might as well buy a new desk, chair, headphones and spea... oh wait. Overkill. The point we're trying to point out and have done in spades is that anything over $2000 is over kill. My parts I posted is budget gaming would achieve me BF3 1920x1080 high with no AA which I'm happy about.
Your point of "more money, more power to him" form of statement is complete utter shit and you know it yourself yet you're being suggestive that he should indeed spend his budget on something that's gonna achieve him what an extra 5-10 fps for fuck loads of cash. This purely examples of a base Alienware.
Expensive, pointless, overkill, no future proofing regardless.
Just another wanna-be Alienware.
This thread either should die or OP should reconsider which I highly doubt.
"He doesn't deserve to have his name written": Real mature. You can't be over 16.
"He could do better by buying over time": in case you haven't been paying attention, you guys have spent the last 2 pages arguing this and he's shown that he knows and doesn't care, and that he's not changing his mind. Why beat the dead horse?
"My parts.. which I'm happy about": Congrats. But we're talking about his parts, his money, and his desires. The rest of the world doesn't have to do what you do. You might learn this when you grow up a little.
"More money, more power is bs": You didn't do anything to disprove this statement because you can't. You can't control what he wants to do with his money (nor can I control what you did with yours, etc), and that's a good thing. Could he build a similar machine for less and get similar FPS? Yeah, if he sacrificed the SSD, cut down the CPU and mobo, etc, but he's obviously not interested in that, so stop arguing about it.
"Alienware": Alienware is cheap garbage. If you looked at my post, you'd see I put the money towards reliable (look at my PSU choice explanation) and high-performance components and left his budget with money to spare. Once again, if you want to actually be helpful instead of a troll, build a machine similar to mine that will run just as well and cost less. Otherwise we can continue going back and fourth all you want, but it's not going to change OP's mind and you know it (so why bother?)
By the way, nice facebook picture. Child poster confirmed. You stoned or something?

Think of if OP will EVER use even half of the RAM and whatever else you picked. Just because the OP has set out a budget and demands doesn't mean you have to meet the budget up to the cent.
If I wanted a web browsing machine, and had $5K to spend, you'd meet the budget to the brim where I could get an exclusively browsing machine for not even a tenth of that.

2. Everyone's time is only being wasted because of you and OP. Had OP not become a dick from the start and had you not come in, we would've been over with this already. However, this is not the case, as OP threw a tantrum over what was previously friendly advice that would avoid making him homeless over a computer.
