Don't hold your breath. DX11 is shaping up to be the next DX9.

No it's shaping up to be over hyped by the people who know nothing about it.
The only part I am really excited for is that 4xAA is now mandatory, and Luishi likes his anti-aliasing!
When's this console generation supposed to end? 2013?
The computing power differences between PC's and consoles is more evident than ever... The PS3 and 360 render COD:MW2 at 960 x 600. Now we can have displays grids up to 7680 x 3200. Jesus fucking christ.

It's always been that way, it's the powerful pipeline on the consoles that even let the graphical quality be somewhere close to the PC.
Imagine if the PC had a unified pipeline :buddy:
Dx11 isn't like Dx10 which didn't provide such a difference from Dx9.
We'll need a new Crysis
good thing crysis is going to be a trilogy, and the second (using cryengine 3) is on its way
What could they possibly do in cryengine 3?

I wish that wasn't so small so we could actually figure out how good it looks.
Pretty impressive, multi-platform is something I didn't think of that CE2 lacked.

also you can't compare a very early cut-down version of ce3 to ce2, crytek somewhere said that the console version would be something like medium settings on the pc version (so just imagine high and very high)

Hey you posted my video :buddy:
Thankfully the only stuff (besides those lighting demos) are consoles running CE3. Hence why it looks like balls compared to CE2 with settings maxed out. CE3 on PC will be a feast for the eyes :v:

:saddowns:
lol succeed
did Crytek show off their new engine for the PC or is it just for consoles? (yes it is for pC, but is there also a PC version)
They just showed it off for consoles it would seem. Having multi-platform ability is a big step for it.

edit:
oh shit

DX11 is not going to be some massive step in gaming graphics, just like DX10 was not a massive step. By the time Windows 7 is as adopted as Vista is now then there will be another DX out. It's a shame because with the long life of XP came a very well optimized DirectX 9 at the end, and I don't see this happening with 11 since MS is not going to let the smoke settle on 7 before they announce their next OS.
