I hope you didn't intentionaly buy that computer, I really hope it was a gift...
It was a gift from my father 3 years ago.
Can anyone suggest why my computer is fucking up so badly? Here is mine; http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01576325&lang=en&cc=us&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=3793684&prodTypeId=12454. Also I am looking for one of PCworld UK since I really dont have an interest of building myself one, even if I do follow instructions I will most likely fuck it up.
Oh man we're talking about an HP, I'm out HP should be helping and they won't because they have such terrible customer service.
Anyway, what exactly is wrong with it? [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] Oh, you can't fuck up a build, the worst you can do is insert the processor in the wrong way, which you shouldn't because it's keyed, everything else will only go in ONE way, it will not physicaly fit unless you start lopping bits off.
lolHP
Anyway, what exactly is wrong with it?
My computer freezes a couple of times a day, my internet cuts out on it but I can get it on my PS3/XBOX, bluescreen, always fucking up, multiple errors and monitor shuts off and its the computers fault, How I know that is when I went to get it fixed and I used my big fat fuck of and old computer it worked fine. Decent too.
Sounds like an instability problem Run memtest86+ and prime95 post results
Windows might be fucked? corrupt drivers?
Pepper;32152284']Sounds like an instability problem Run memtest86+ and prime95
Sorry I'm not very good at doing stuff like this, do I run them through Command Console or what?
My computer freezes a couple of times a day, my internet cuts out on it but I can get it on my PS3/XBOX, bluescreen, always fucking up, multiple errors and monitor shuts off and its the computers fault, How I know that is when I went to get it fixed and I used my big fat fuck of and old computer it worked fine. Decent too.
Tried reformatting and re-installing Windows recently? If that doesn't help in any way at all, the hardware is probably at fault. But srs, don't buy that ricer shit "custom" pre-built companies sell. It's nowhere near worth the money. The hardest part of putting a PC together is usually getting the PSU wired up in a decent fashion.
Windows might be fucked? corrupt drivers?
Nah its not windows, I have reinstalled windows several times and nothing, works fine to start with but fucks up more and more gradually. Also, are Advent computers any good?
Hardware then
Sorry I'm not very good at doing stuff like this, do I run them through Command Console or what?
Download them. memtest can be run from Windows if you press f8 while it's booting. But memtest86+ is better.
Advent suck shit skimp out on PSUs and foxconn, 'nuff said. also i edited the post and it has download links now.
getting the PSU wired up in a decent fashion.
Which is not entirely essential, it's just a really good idea.
Pepper;32152398']Advent suck shit skimp out on PSUs and foxconn, 'nuff said. also i edited the post and it has download links now.
What about this predator, my friends brother had a predator and was actually really good.
Pepper;32152493']For petes sake just build one You probably think its good because you're used to the HP
Im not going to build one, personally I think thats a lot better than mine, but thats my opinion and no-ones gives a fuck about my opinion.
Im not going to build one, personally I think thats a lot better than mine, but thats my opinion and no-ones gives a fuck about my opinion.
Just build one: *It's cheaper *It's easy *You know exactly what's inside *It's delicious For fuck's sake, people have recommended components for you, just don't buy that ricer shit.
Im not going to build one, personally I think thats a lot better than mine, but thats my opinion and no-ones gives a fuck about my opinion.
Acer fucking suck, the case is a ricer piece of crap, like I explained in the 2nd reply to this thread, you have to be an utter retard to screw a build up. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] The GT340 in that computer is an utter pile too. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] You will enjoy putting it together aswell, I love building computers, it's great fun.
Pepper;32152493']For petes sake just build one You probably think its good because you're used to the HP Just give us a budget, tell us what you want to use it for and if you need a screen, keyboard and mouse and we'll make a list of parts When they arrive it's like a very VERY simple puzzle game to build Also you'll get a FUCK YEAH I BUILT THIS feeling.
OK, budget, £700 - £1000, I dont need a screen, I' fine with mine even though its a utter piece of shit, dont need a keyboard or mouse, as usual, I'm fine with mine, I just want the tower and want it to be able to hold Adobe Master Collection CS5.5 and a lot of files for games and video effects. But as I said, I do like to play games, preferably Hi-Res or HD, I only want the tower no speakers nothing, well, other than cables.

Proof: And that gpu is horrible. Just build one yourself from good components and keep updating it every 2 year to keep with the times.
Ok if you're going to build one at least use one of those anti-static wrist bands. You don't want to fry your components. (This happened to me the first time I built a computer)

Make sure to get a SSD OS drive too, a little 64gig one would be sufficient for windows.

If not I will use my 600Gb one out of my HP.
Shh, stop trying to scare him away from building. If you prepare correctly you'll be fine.
Well if he's not going to get one, he should at least put it together on a surface that doesn't give out static electricity and NO LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS!
Do different makes on PC use different types of hard drives? If not I will use my 600Gb one out of my HP.
Hard drives are standardized, so yeah you can just take the one out of your HP. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline]
Well if he's not going to get one, he should at least put it together on a surface that doesn't give out static electricity and NO LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS!
Pff, bitch please, long sleeve shirts are cool if you roll them up and make sure they don't fall down while holding your processor. because then it gets awkward.
Hard drives are standardized, so yeah you can just take the one out of your HP.
Good, no need to buy a hard drive then, or should I?
Good, no need to buy a hard drive then, or should I?
If you think you can survive on that one, no need really. But it's probably 5400RPM, buying your own could give you a slightly faster driver (like 7200RPM), but it does save a bit of money without buying one.
