DAMMIT thanks, I keep thinking it's 2011 for some reason. :downs:
No worries, 5 years ain't far off
Why is everyone so upset about this? All they're doing is changing the name. That article is extremely misleading since anyone skimming it would think that AMD has shut down production of graphics card entirely. All they're doing is getting rid of the ATI name.
I don't care about a name change but I never thought about their logos' colour. I liked ATI's red.
Did anyone see the logos I posted? It's still red.
Yeah, why would a company who's trying to sell you a product try to get your attention? [editline]04:02PM[/editline] Yup. [editline]04:03PM[/editline] Here's the new logos. [img_thumb]http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/cpu/amd/atiretirement/newlogos.jpg[/img_thumb]
Well... They're alright.
I just got into Hardware recently and let me just say one thing... Ati Radeon... you will be missed. AMD Radeon... that sounds weird.
Now all we need are NVidia CPUs, and we'll have the same 3 companies competing on both processing fronts.
ITT: People crying over a name change when they can just call it it's original name. But yeah I'll probably still call it ATI. Sounds better.

Fuck, I have an ATI. Those things must be priceless now. brb selling graphics card
Just an FYI: the real reason for doing this is because their next-gen GPU will be integrated with the CPU. Since they can't sell that seperately, they're going with their AMD brand, which is about as recognized as their ATI brand.
ATI CPU vs. AMD CPU ATI Processor vs. AMD Processor ATI APU vs. AMD APU ATI sounds like a cooler name
Hmm, I wonder if this will rise the price of "ATI" Cards... Naw probably not.
If AMD is Advanced Micro Systems, then what is ATi other then ATi Technologies Inc
AMD is "Advanced Micro Devices". 'Systems' doesn't even start with a D. Anyways, ATi was founded as "Array Technologies Incorporated" which makes sense considering their product line. Later it was changed to the familiar "ATi Technologies Incorporated" (probably in '93 when they went public) which kept the ATi initialism.
scribblenauts and pokemon I can't really think of any others.
What you talkin bout? Super Mario Kart is the shit.
They better not take my Ruby!
So you are all angry that they are just making it all one name? ...
It's a breach of trust. Keeping the ATI name showed that they weren't just absorbing the company to fuck it up and milk it. But that they respected the corporate identity and the brand loyalty, and were going to be fully fledged partners and let ATI do their thing as they always have, but better. Now that is no longer apparent.
Oh that makes more sense now. [editline]10:47PM[/editline] Seeing above picture: THAT'S who that is? I wondered what she was about, but I've only seen her once. [editline]10:52PM[/editline]
To make up for the face that you have lost, may your red soul burn extra bright. That is to say if the cards turn green.... :argh:
? Meaning: What? [editline]10:58PM[/editline]
If that happened :words: :emo:
I don't see what the big deal is. [editline]11:07PM[/editline]
So instead of green vs red we'll have green vs green?
WHAT THE HELL IS ALL THIS TALK OF RED AND GREEN!??/1slash ...After all, it's not Christmas.
even in it's current shitty state, this thread is an embarrassment to PCH&S
even in it's current shitty state, this thread is an embarrassment to PCH&S
*Rereads thread* So it would seem.
As long as Sapphire still makes cards, I'll be happy.
WHAT THE HELL IS ALL THIS TALK OF RED AND GREEN!??/1slash ...After all, it's not Christmas.
Nvidia is green, ATI is red. AMD is green too.
Why would they do this. It doesn't seem worth it. It's weird to change such a big name.
Nvidia is green, ATI is red. AMD is green too.
Still confused.
How can you be confused? Using green for those cards is like painting a sickle and hammer on the stars and stripes.
How can you be confused? Using green for those cards is like painting a sickle and hammer on the stars and stripes.
your posts couldn't get much worse right now [editline]06:11AM[/editline] I almost mistook that for a pixel heart post
How can you be confused? Using green for those cards is like painting a sickle and hammer on the stars and stripes.
WHAT CARDS!!? (There is no spoon?)
They should just change the company name to ATi. The lowercase I makes it look so awesome.
WHAT CARDS!!? (There is no spoon?)
THE ATI GRAPHICS CARDS. (What else?!)
AMVidia.
How is this b'aww worthy? It's just a name change, it's not like they're completely ousting the brand and shutting down manufacturing plants.
THE ATI GRAPHICS CARDS. (What else?!)
 So then what do you mean the color of them?
