I don't really understand why they wouldn't run it on a Sony OS that can run all the PSP games that already exist.
Plus the XMB is that fucking classy Sony would be nuts not to use it on a phone imo
because android is better?
Unhackable PSP = no fun
I never hacked my PSP, and I had lots of fun. :colbert:
..this will not be cheap..
hacking is reponsible for why the PSP failed in epic proportions
if this PSPhone ca be hacked I hope it can only be hacked like an
iphone, so it can run 3rd party and get free stuff.
You don't need to hack Android to install 3rd party apps or paid apps for free.
So a shitty version of the PSP with phone capabilities?
Mmmmhm...
So a shitty version of the PSP with phone capabilities?

Why shitty? The hardware is much better.
If it's for AT&T I'm getting it. :D
I never hacked my PSP, and I had lots of fun. :colbert:
Missing out.
It won't look like the mockup, as that is HTCs stuff, it'll be more xperia esc. Or that one that could connect to the PSP
The biggest problem I can see with this is that the PSP eats battery power as a PSP on itself.
If you have Android running underneath too (and I assume it would, What good is a PSP phone if it's not a phone when it's a PSP?) it probably drains in 3 hours max.
The shitty little analog nub barely works too as is. I can't see a touch section being the solution there.
No.
Why not?
Uh no he didn't. His so called "hack" didn't do shit. He quit because he realized it wasn't going to go anywhere, especially since Sony removed the OtherOS feature.
Exactly. It didn't do shit, as opposed to the official update, which disabled OtherOS.
Sounds very meh.
So a shitty version of the PSP with phone capabilities?

the hardware would be much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much better than the PSP, not sure where you're getting "shitty."
It won't look like the mockup, as that is HTCs stuff, it'll be more xperia esc. Or that one that could connect to the PSP
none of that is HTC, that mockup was of a Captivate over the slide out controls of a PSPGo, and it's intended to be obvious and a bad mockup, to be funny while still giving an example of what it'll probably look like
I'll stick to my current phone, thanks.
yeah you're welcome
My HD2 can emulate psx just fine. But i would rather have it be android and have a proper app for it. I KNOW it can emulate it flawlessly, if it was on a more stable operating system and developed on a higher level.

it's not that god damn hard to understand. it will be an android 3.0 phone, meaning it'll be android. it will simply have rights to play PSP games and most likely an application for PSN and downloading PSP games. it's not a PSP, it's merely an android device that can play PSP games and has the controls. and it won't be a "touch section" hence the "psp controls" portion so it'll have "the shitty little analog nub" that "barely works"

PSX4Droid supposedly works splendidly on the MotoDroid series and I'd assume a lot of other devices. however PSP games are a bit more intricate than PS1 games.
Why people spend hundreds of dollars on phones is beyond me...
Probably a fail as Nokia did it with the N-Gage. It does sound cool and has a bit of a potential though.
A bit slow on the news man, I knew about this ages ago.
Probably a fail as Nokia did it with the N-Gage. It does sound cool and has a bit of a potential though.
N-Gage failed because of it's bad layout, poor ergonomics, and lack of major third-party support. It was also technically underwhelming and very expensive when compared to a GBA.

fascinating as the most recent article mentioning android 3.0 and psp controls is still from last week.
Why people spend hundreds of dollars on phones is beyond me...
why people spend more money on anything is beyond me
why people enjoy luxurious things is beyond me
why people like that extra bit of quality is beyond me
why people want all the features possible is beyond me
so fucking tired of seeing this shit everywhere, lets all just buy bargain bin 99 cent trac phones and not even bother buying consoles, and lets all just buy Acer 19" monitors and $3 keyboards along with a $5 optical mouse
People like to splurge. I see no problem.

i have a 3 dollar keyboard and it works fine
infact its worked fine for 3 years.
Lol who cares it'll be locked even more then the iPhone is. No one buys a phone for games.

trillionth time:
Android OS
not PSP OS
Android
[editline]04:13PM[/editline]
and sure no one buys a phone for games, but people buy smartphones for capability, and what better way to show capabilities than through games?
I doubt it's real.. Hasn't this happened before? And with the Xbox.. And the Wii... From a "Trusted Source"
sony has always expressed a lot of interest in doing a gaming phone but has never really known how nor have they ever had a proper platform for it. that's the difference between the fabled XBox phone (which isn't really fabled as that's actually part of Windows Phone 7), but i've never heard anything of a "Wii" phone or any gaming phone from Nintendo for that matter.
