Now if only you could revert the OS to windows XP.

Who says you can't?
Now if only you could revert the OS to windows XP.
How about fucking no.
Now if only you could revert the OS to windows XP.
lets also demand they include a time machine with it because obviously living in the present isn't an option
And how the hell is 1080P playback a gimmick?

On a 1024 x 600 screen? I guess HDMI output changes things a little though.
Sexy as fuck.
On a 1024 x 600 screen? I guess HDMI output changes things a little though.
Yeah, even if it couldn't I don't see why anyone would want to watch a movie on their a mobile device or a tablet like that. You usually have comparatively giant TV's for that.
I often carry my 42" TV on the train.
A train is not an appropriate setting for movie viewing.
Looks better than the iPad.
Meh, doesn't look as good as the iPad. The main thing I like about it is the webcam and the SD card slot but some gimmicky features like 1080P playback (on 1024*600 screen) instead of focusing on making the os better which gives the iPad an advantage.
The Ipad can multitask, sure, but tablet windows PCs can do that just fine too.
I fail to see how a closed App system is superior to a platform where you can run any program you want.

seeing as the appstore has over 2000+ iPad apps, and then all the 185,000+ iphone apps it's not really a problem.
And we also know that all apps work perfectly as they're made for the device.
iPad is perfect for that, plus it has better battery life.
Are you serious?
There's no way in hell a capacative touchscreen could beat an active digitizer at drawing.
Yes but it still isn't great. Using a stylus in Windows was just painful, and it'd be damn near unusable with a finger
I have a convertible Windows 7 multitouch tablet PC and I use my fingers/pen much more than the touchpad or a real mouse even in laptop mode.
It's absolutely great.

Not to mention have much more access to the system.
On an iPad you can't even see the filesystem. That may be good for your typical dumb consumer (sadly) but it's garbage for prosumers like most of us.
It'd be pretty sweet to put Google Chrome OS on this thing.

Does the Slate really have no WLAN?
Does the Slate really have no WLAN?
It does, they are just showing the different model prices.
It looks like it just doesn't have n, not a big loss really. g is quite sufficient for whatever you'll be using a tablet for anyway.
Looks good apart from that laggy hard push touch screen, why do they put that stupid circle to show where you have hit, just really puts me off.
Yet they fail to make everything smooth.
Honestly I couldn't care less about their touch bloatware, Win7 is the draw.

I've been using a touchscreen with Windows 7 for a few days as I said and so far this circle isn't annoying at all. Doesn't seem that helpful to me but I doubt I would be better off without it.

Yeah but there's something about it, it's like I know where I clicked, this isn't needed.

I am reluctant to trust any review that ends in "meh". Meh is pointless, it just says they give up and aren't doing their job. Throw some rage if it sucks or be happy if it's good, better yet make an actual review that ends in a conclusion of some sort.
Don't just say "meh". Christ.

IMO "meh" is in between good and bad, it's just average/nothing special.
No, it means you don't care.
No, I said Windows 7 sucks ass on a tablet.
When was the last time you tried out that?
All I see is a reinvented Electrovaya Scribbler.

There's really only so many ways you can create a tablet PC.
(That Scribbler looks awesome btw, no widescreen bullshit or pointless bloatware interfaces.)

It is honestly too soon to be reviewing a in-production tablet and just end with meh. A greater portion of the time, the tablet gets revisions before it is released.
