Don't worry Jimmy. I'll get you once 8 is actually real instead of this post RTM crap ;)
I've heard that DOSBox isn't working on 64bit systems, but i have yet to test it myself. Is this more than a rumor?
In my experience DOSBox works perfectly on 64 bit.
Your friend's crap
Not really, IE9 is getting a new rendering engine that goes through the GPU, i'd say that's a pretty big change.
It's a bit WAY to early to start this thread, don't you think?
There are no noticeable difference between windows 7 and the so called windows 8 alpha at this stage, nor have any detailed documentations on it.

It's called Windows 7 Build 7700. There is no 8.
Your stupid.
1. Microsoft won't release operating systems in decimal points.
Windows 1.01, Windows 2.03, Windows 2.10, Windows 2.11, Windows 3.0, Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.1, Windows 3.2, Windows NT 3.5, Windows NT 3.51.
Speak for yourself.

Windows 5.1, Windows 6.1.
Isn't that just XP and Vista?
Isn't that just XP and Vista?
XP and 7
XP and 7
I disagree, 6.1 was a technical decision, 3.11 was a marketed name. I don't think they'll keep using the decimals again. I'd rather they up the number incrementally forever, but knowing Microsoft (and most businesses, really*), they'll come up with a "wise" marketing decision and break that.
* Same argument applies to Nvidia model numbers, processors, etc.

I was just throwing it out there for fun. Nothing implied.
This came up very fast. Though I can't wait to follow Windows 8 to RTM.

So fast in fact, it has yet to be started.
Red Alert (the very origonal).
First Decade version works. Not sure about original one.

thats the actual screen
...
i really like the font there
In a APC magazine I was reading a while back they had a small piece on Windows 8. I can't remember much mentioned in the piece but what I do remember is that there will be better multi-monitor support.
I'll try track down the magazine so I can get some more details.

XP, Vista, and 7 all have fabulous milti-monitor support.... so what can they do beyond a Compiz rip-off and multiple taskbars/desktops? Make it 3D?

"Support" isn't just showing the screen and letting you drag stuff. It's having multiple desktop wallpapers, taskbars that are seamless across the two, and basically taking advantage of the possibilities that second screen offers. Why not have multiple screen savers? Why not have an optional feature where background dialogs (file copies, etc.) are tiled onto the second screen? There are a lot of possibilities.

Microsoft absolutely sucks when it comes to multimon support.
Well what he's saying could be perfectly legit. I know some people who say that Post 7 WinMain builds are pretty neat.
didn't say it wasn't legit.
He mentioned his friend helped make the monstrosity that is IE.

Looking back that's just a horrible photoshop of Copenhagen over bliss. You can see 7's old wallpaper behind the glass.
If anyone wants to see the Copenhagen Concept: http://www.istartedsomething.com/20090417/windows-enthusiast-cullen-cophenhagen-ux-concept-video/
The only font in windows 8 is comic sans.
Lol, why would they start making a new system now if they just released the best one yet?
Lol, why would they start making a new system now if they just released the best one yet?
Because making a OS takes a bit longer than a few months.

It's just that I can't possibly see what's next in a new operating system other than what is in windows 7 right now.

So maybe they can surprise us with something new!

Better file system, cli, multimonitor support, etc. There's always stuff to fix.
Well I hope the codename doesn't become the real name this time!
What about "Windows Velox" (Velox is latin for fast)
What about "Windows Explosion" (Explosions are usually fast)
