Well actually, most laptops are like that. The service flap should give access to the HSF IMO.

Usually a can of compressed air is enough to blast the dust out. Unless of course you're dealing with a solid layer of dust and other nasty bits that are built up.
I like DELL's laptops but their pre-built stuff is fucking awful.

That's why I don't buy Dell.
That board is old though. Every aftermarket board didn't used to be red and black. Not that I'm defending Dell.

not that old, maybe four years. Our school's dell towers have boards that look like that. I was trying to unscrew one from the case and the fucking thing snapped when I unscrewed the first screw. No fucking clue, man.
I like dells desktops. I had one break. But it was 6 months after the new video card was put in.
I had a dell laptop also. Absolute shit to the end.
HDD: 64 GB
OS: Windows Vista
2 GB of ram
And a battery that barely lasts 1 fucking minute. Seriously. ONE FUCKING MINUTE!
Shitty charger slot that the charger always falls out of.
2 Broken dell chargers and a targus charger that I'm using now. Hell. Targus' chargers are better than most default chargers.
And 3 reinstall's of windows vista because of the shitty battery/charger.
And NEVER buy their HD monitors. Blurry and faulty.

it has a PCI-express so it cant be that old and the color is not the point, its that its a BTX board that would be next to impossible to replace. I have a gen 2 I got from someone and the damn thing is also pop riveted on a metal tray so you would need to get a board from dell that was for that machine. That computer also has a really strange airflow thing that does not work for shit so i had to hang a fan on the heatsink which I think is glued onto the CPU. but my 630 I got before I knew much about computers is fine, But like Macktastic said the PSU can barely power anything and the GPU died.

You should elaborate a little more on that. What specific model(s) did you happen to own that were blurry and faulty?
And NEVER buy their HD monitors. Blurry and faulty.
The FUCK are you talking about?
Also I have a Inspiron 6000 that I have had for over 5 years and I have used it almost everyday since, it has been great. That had the sound go after 3 or something then the HDD went after 4 years but I think thats because I went on a trip around the US for 2 years and used it every day in a bumpy truck. then about the same time the screen came off. turns out all the screws had stripped out, got bigger screws and that fixed that. but in a few days its going to be retiring to be a minecraft server.
I had a Inspiron 8600, lasted me about 7 years. Best laptop I've ever owned, hands down.
My 3ish year old studio 15, I hate. Haven't been able to decide whether it was Vista 32 or the laptop itself I hated though.
I also have a very old Dimension desktop from Dell. Works fairly well for its age, can't really say I hate it or like it, as I don't use it for much. And my monitor is a Dell 1905fp, can't complain at all about that.

change the resolution :downs:
dell is an excellent manufacturer IF you're purchasing for a company/business solution. dell's optiplex, precision, and latitude series are fucking awesome and easy to work with in a corporate environment. best thing is, if we have an issue with one we simply punch in its service tag and a rep either comes to fix it or sends us a replacement. not to mention premier prices are very low in comparison to end user prices.

Just about every school/business I know of that buys computers in bulk, goes with Dell. There must be something appealing about them to businesses if they keep buying from them.
But still for end-user personal use, they aren't great.

That looks like a standard micro-atx board to me.
THIS is what a BTX board looks like:

There's no way the above board it micro ATX, it's way too large.
I mean the dell one linked earlier. Not the one you posted.
Actually maybe not.

What?

That's a BTX board.
The way they assemble their cases is so garbage. Could barely fit my 9800GT into one without getting the corner edge caught on the metal array used for HDDs. Had to use a mini-handsaw and cut that bit out, eliminating my chances for using a second HDD.

If you actually knew what the BTX standard encompassed, you could tell right away it's a BTX board.
The slots are on the top of the board instead of the bottom, the I/O back connectors are where the slots are supposed to be. The CPU is in a straight line with the northbridge to be cooled with one fan, and the RAM is off to the side to prevent obstruction of airflow.
Okay...and what games might those be?
Oh you know, all Source Games, BC2, Crysis, Crysis 2, CoD4, Rainbow Six Vegas 2? But got HP a long time ago, until I realized that building is better.
Pepper;29592601']Their upgradability isn't good, their PSUs can barely power what's in the machine, they are poorly built (a case should not flex that much under it's own weight if you lift it up by a corner) they die usually just outside the warranty and if you need any replacement parts they charge you out of the ass for them.
I have an old gaming desktop that I bought in 2007 and it runs just as well today as it did back then, so speaking from personal experiences, I can say that their builds are good. Also, the only problem I've ever had was with the graphics card, which is a 8800 GTX, and they replaced it at no cost. It did take a while to go through their customer support but they did eventually do what I demanded.
I personally don't understand the amount of hate they've been getting over technical issues, and I've honestly had a pretty good experience with them overall.

I said 'not the one you posted' meaning the one right above me, I meant this one isn't microATX

My XPS's MoBo layout is fine, idk what you guys are talking about.
