yo yo yo is your $windows.~bt folder still not there????
make sure you are 100% up to date including KB2952664(win7) or KB2976978(win8)
then run "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" in an admin command prompt
[editline]28th July 2015[/editline]
also
don't run setup.exe in there
just be patient and wait for midnight eastern time
Works on the laptop next to me
Sniffed out packets to Akamai microsoft
I'm still missing the Get Windows 10 app, and it's supposedly released on my timezone. Oh well. It was reserved a long time ago too.

offers of calling me a sexy bastard will only be accepted if you're a leggy blonde chick
I've done all the stuff that Crypto suggested, however I've still not got a $Windows.~BT folder. I've installed KB2952664, and I reserved my upgrade already. Anyone got any ideas?
Well I've just noticed an unexpected plus to using Windows 10, the VLC interface looks cleaner and somewhat nicer to use.

for what it's worth
i've only seen that trick work 100% of the time on windows 8
Nothing is working on my side and I just want to see it download. I literally tried EVERYTHING.
If windows update says that it has failed to install Win10 does that mean I am good to go? I still don't see that folder.

So the best thing for me to do would be to just wait, then?

a failed windows 10 update means everything is ready to go

wait it out a bit
if you've got a reservation, you are getting it
Make sure you have windows update set to install updates automatically before running the command.
So I'm currently downloading Windows 8 on the internet at my old place (I'm right in the middle of a move) but the internet at my current place is shitty satellite internet. After running the wuauclt, what time will I have to wait before I can actually continue with the setup? Midnight tonight? 8 a.m. my local timezone? And lastly will there be anything to download after beginning the setup process?

Any idea how large of a download that will be?
Also, isn't that only like 4 and a half hours away at this point?
Make sure you have windows update set to install updates automatically before running the command.
Holy shit, thank you so much. It worked!
Make sure you have windows update set to install updates automatically before running the command.
Thanks, That was what I was missing when I tried the command.
Changed iit to auto install, ran command and win 10 is downloading.
Lol my update failed too. Is this normal?
yes
it not working is normal seeing how you're still probably missing windows 10 bits which haven't been released yet
I've got the Windows-bt folder but it's only 140mb and not growing, is that normal?
I've got the Windows-bt folder but it's only 140mb and not growing, is that normal?
someone else had it stall at 140mb for a bit
give it some time

You use VLC to play music? Jesus Christ, why?
You use VLC to play music? Jesus Christ, why?
well I mean, I use Windows Media Player, so I'm sure it probably isn't as bad as what I do lol
speaking of, how's Groove music? Should I use something else more real or is it totally fine?
That default p2p windows update setting is going to absolutely fuck over people who dont realize they need to turn it off, especially for people with bandwidth caps. Between that and the mandatory auto updates on home versions and enterprise exclusive disabling of telemetry/spyware, well, fuck them.
It's honestly surprising they would do this after the pando media booster fiasco. But no, instead microsoft thinks it's a good idea to buy up pando then use them to put malware in an operating system.
Ok, i give up. Already updated everything, ran the command countless times and no avail.
After updating everything tough, i noticed that it doesn't open wuauclt anymore via the command.

do you have automatically install updates enabled?
/updatenow doesn't seem to work unless that's set
do you have automatically install updates enabled?

Yeah, had that enabled from the start, it used to work (atleast for the broken updates) when i didn't update them, now it doesn't anymore.
If I were to reinstall.. would I have to go all the way back to 8 then to 8.1 then to 10? I bought 8 a year or 2 ago.

you'll be able to generate 10 media
note however, that OEM keys will not license to a new mobo if that's the reason you're reinstalling
I cant get 8.1 to update the final update i need for windows 10. Any tips? Ive seen some command line things
