No dice, I'm still missing kb303(whatever comes after) which is apparently the one that installs the reserve platform. Checking for updates has been going for 30 minutes now and it's eating up half a gig of ram and half of the CPU. Nothing, not even an up-to-date message. Anyway to force this thing to find the updates?
There is a tool there that should help.
I like it. It's good for music while your in game. It's reminders are pretty strong. Or some quick math.
well gpu drivers are giving me a headache, but at least the taskbar is pretty and edge is fast, right?

also restarting / shutting down takes a lot longer than it used to on win8. lame
It should be fine after the first few days. It has to do a lot of crap on a new os.
Oh shit, my Windows 7 isn't genuine because of serial key issues I had when installing, what will happen when I install Windows 10 and is there a way to activate it?
So with Windows 10 being out there is only one question:
Is Cortana actually good and useful, or is it just a massive gimmick like Siri and Google Now?
It's good... when you're in your car and can't type on your phone. As for PC... Maybe disabled people will be able to get actual use out of it?

Remove all that activator crap, search for activate windows, put in key or replace key, follow prompts.
is this happening to anyone else?

FINALLY, A FRIEND TOLD ME HOW TO FORCE THE UPDATE.
So, grab Windows PowerShell
Download PSWindowsUpdate script for it.
Install the script, then open Windows PowerShell and run the following:
Set-ExecutionPolicy unrestricted
Import-Module PSWindowsUpdate
Get-WUInstall -KBArticle KB3012973 -AcceptAll
The Win10 folder will automagically download.
EDIT:It failed a bit at first, but the folder got created and inside Download on SoftwareDistributions i see a 2.55GB file. So it works.

Just manually grab the drivers from geforce.com
Is it too late to reserve a copy? I still have the offer on my PC, I clicked "Reserve my copy" and it loaded then disappeared, now if I click on the icon near the clock again it's the same thing but without the "Reserve my copy" button.

Refresh and reset in the metro control panel.
You might need to make a full bootable media first.
Can anyone confirm?
I can! I've been running that wuauclt command to no avail, and I didn't have the $Windows folder so I was getting frustrated, then I installed that and I finally have it in C:.
Now to battle the actual install...
(oh, and saving you a Google, https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/2d191bcd-3308-4edd-9de2-88dff796b0bc )
Can anyone confirm?
WindowsUpdate shows nothing, which is kinda worrying, but if the files are here, its working
The powershell forcing windows update to download worked for me, at least it put the folder in and started downloading some stuff.
I don't know if it will proceed to continue downloading the rest, but I will let people know

Take a look at C:\Windows\SoftwareDistributions\Download, inside one of the folders, there will be a 2GB file.
getting some pretty weird cpu usage spikes. sometimes when i'm doing absolutely nothing but reading some text on chrome (with the page loaded and not moving) task manager shows 95% cpu usage on shit like the task manager itself, chrome, antimalware executable etc
really weird, but hey, the joys of being an early adopter
search index has to be recreated.
Also I recall there was an issue with windows defender(antimalware service) recursively scanning itself causing the CPU to go to 100% but I'm not sure if that has been fixed yet.
Okay so I installed all my windows updates and now i'm at this stage

How will I know that I can start installing Win10?
Also when you install 10, if you have any 3rd party antivirus, MAKE SURE it is running. Bitdefender does not successfully make the trip during the upgrade so it needs to be repaired.

Its a big window that gives you two choices.
You can't miss it.

Negative
My $Windows is only at 140 mb and hasn't climbed, and my Softw...\Download barely has anything except for a "WindowsUpdateBox.exe"
